[Q] HTC Evo 4g LTE custom flash ROM issue, no OS? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ok so I am franticaly running around trying to fix my phone, if there is another thread on this I do appologize. I found my teather cord and decided to root my phone today. Im pretty familiar with the rooting of HTC phones, so needless to say I did the HTCdev option for unlocking bootloader, and installed the TWRP recovery system. I just a little ancious and wanted a new, fresh and clean look for my phone. So after searching HTCevohacks.com, I found the AVATAR rom. I downloaded the approtate file and the GApps that it said to do, booted into recovery and wiped my phone like it said and flashed the new rom onto my phone. I added the second file to the flash for GApps and robooted my phone. Loads the HTC screen, then black screen.... I have tried 2 other roms, UR EVO and Jelly Bam. I want to use the jelly bam. I liked the review and the style of it. Sad part is my phone is now a brick and it cant figure out how to fix it. I believe my issue was that I didnt read the comments on the First rom saying that a guy forgot to make a backup image. Is there any thing i can do to fix why it is not loading the new roms or is it just a very expensive paper weight?

Its not bricked. You have to flash the kernel seperate cause your S-ON.
you should read "don't panic" stickied in Q&A

Ok, I skimmed through the terminology and found that it says 1.15 requires to flash the kernal seprate. I have 2.09. Will that fix mine aswell? And if so, how do I do it seprate? It says the guide tells you how to but I cant seem to find it
EDIT: I googled the process and it requires me to download an app from the market, i cant do this my phone wont start into any kind of rom/kerel

[Q] HTC EVO 3D CDMA bricked?

Okay guys, I have an HTC Evo 3D CDMA that is somewhat unusable. All I did was root the phone and in a few days the phone just wouldn't start up. It gets stuck on the HTC logo. I've tried getting it into download mode to flash a new stock firmware (but it didn't want to), I've tried to put the .zip stock firmware file onto the sd card to "install zip from sd card", I've tried to put the update file on the sd card to install it through "hboot", and even factory resetting it, but it still would get stuck on the logo and fail to boot up. I've tried just about everything I can think of, or find on the internet. Any other suggestions or solutions?

Were you able to reflash a kernel or the stock ROM?
I couldn't flash ANYTHING. -_-

I made the mistake of flashing one of the stock roms derived from RUU which was a big mistake since it flashed the hboot I no longer have revolutionary which lead me to not being able to fastboit anything. I can get the adb to.connect to the device while in recovery with system mounted. but that's pretty much it. If i install a custom ROM when I reboot revolutionary will see device but not ling enough to.root and install the drivers. Just setup your pc to use fastboot otherwise you might do the same thing I did. After two days of searching trying different things my fix was going and buying a new phone last night.

If you relocked your phone "fastboot oem lock" and installed a stock RUU, this should have brought your phone back to stock. This wasn't the case?

When you root your phone, never accept updates unless you unroot your phone and go back to stock. Are you on hboot 1.5? I would suggest finding a rom that you want to flash (I recommend Myn's warmtwopoint3 RLS1 Deodex). To do this go into fastboot USB and load the custom recovery in the folder you downloaded to root your phone "fastboot boot recovery.img" (recovery.img should be replaced with the name of the CWM***.img file in that folder. This will give you full access to write the kernal and install the rom). Your issue is only likely kernal related so unless you do what I just mentioned, you wont have access to write a new kernal.

Does it still show hboot 1.4? According to the instructions, after the PG86IMG.zip installs, you need to go into fastboot and type "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3"
I think your probably just doing something wrong. Pull your battery out, put it back in, hold down volume button and power to boot into bootloader. Explain to me what you see. You should see fastboot on the top and you should be able to press the power button to enter fastboot and when you plug in your phone it will show fastboot usb. If this isnt happening I'm very curious as to what is.

Thanks for the help everyone!
Hi everyone. The only reason why I wrote this status was because I rooted the phone for someone, and gave it back to them in working order. Then about a week later, they came back to me with that problem and I tried to fix it. But with no success as I stated above. They threatened to sue me or take me to small claims for this problem which i didn't even start. Talk about assholes. Anyways, they gave me the option of paying them 350 which is half of what they bought the phone for, or having me try to fix it. If I do fix it, no need to pay, but if I don't then I'd have to pay the full price which is 700. So I've decided to just pay them the 350 to shut their mouth, get my ass out of trouble, and get on with my life.
So yea, I guess I won't be needing this thread anymore. I really want to try fixing it to save me money, but I don't want to risk it. And yea, I know how much of an asshole they're being. But oh well, shows what kind of people they are.
Were you paid initially for services rendered, when first "working" on the phone? Did you make mention any guarantee/warranty for "work" performed? At any time was this person/persons aware of such forum/s which clearly express "do this at your own risk"?

Anytime your altering anything on anyone's phone always run them through the normal disclaimer. Make certain that they understand that you take ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY for any damage that might be caused by what THEY want you to do. **** happens sometimes and and you gotta cover your ass. This is why every Rom, Radio/firmware updates, themes and guides have the same disclaimer.

Just read the OP again. You only rooted the phone, didn't install a custom ROM? Also, after rooting it, the person whom you rooted the phone came to you after a week, not a day or two? In that time frame who knows what they tried to do. Also, someone mentioned a kernel issue as the most likely culprit. Are you able to get into recovery, volume down + power/recovery? Can you get to the bootloader/HBOOT screen? If you get anything other than just the bootloader screen, you may still salvage it. Any progress?

Did you check the SD card for anything that you didn't put on there? Sounds like you were scammed to me. Give me half now or try to fix it and if you can't you have to pay me full. Something doesn't sound right with that. Sounds like they didn't want to give you enough time to dig to deep into the phone. Did you check to see if it was even the same phone? Did you charge them for this service originally? What was the reason why they wanted root access?

That was the mistake I made, by NOT telling them that. Which is why I have absolutely NOTHING to cover my ass. Which is the reason why I'm going to pay for it to get out of this mess.

I don't have the phone with me right now. Which is why I can't try anymore repairs. And I'm not going to in case it fails, then I'll have to pay full price.

I don't remember what I did and didn't put on there. So I can't use that as a way to back myself up. And I honestly started thinking that it is a scam, but again, it is kind of is my fault for not taking extra precautionary measures to protect myself in the event that this thing happens. Yes, I did charge for the service. And they didn't say why they wanted it rooted. And even if they are scamming me, I'm just glad it happened sooner so that I could learn from it and prepare myself for the future. As for the money, I am bummed that I have to pay them, but God knows who's the better person and what kind of people they are so I'll let God deal with them.
I have the same issue, sort of. A friend brought me his Evo 3D for me to work on.
My friend 'rooted' his Evo3D through some steps up on youtube that claims root for the 1.5 hboot with S-ON. He then later DL Rom Manager and flashed the freEVO ROM. Now its only useful for WIFI, connected media/google talk/phone dialer/contacts do not work, they all say 'Could not launch the requested activity.'. I have tried factory resetting but it resets to the same issue, cant flash any other rom since there is no actual recovery.
Any ideas on how I can make this thing work

Wifi error

Hi,
For 2 days my Wifi is giving an error. It says turning on but never does. I have not installed anything or changed a thing. It stopped working for some strange reason. I am on stock mobility with stock kernel, never changed it and I have s-on.
Please help,
Thanks
Try a hard reset

Try clearing Dalvik-Cache in recovery then Fix Permissions. It should help it.
Wipe and reflash stock via hasoon's zip files.
I reset and its still the same. When I try to flash a different kernel it restarts without changing but starts with an error message to contact HTC. I'm fully rooted, unlocked bootloader and s-on and I tried flash.bat and the kernel flasher app but none can change my kernel. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Just noticed bt is not working too

Well if you are using 4ext recovery (which i highly recommend, best recovery ever made)then there is an option that asks if you are are s-on and you click yes because you are s-on which then allows the recovery to flash any kernel (given its compatible of course) as if you were s-off. That should work, if for some odd reason (for me 4ext never failed even when i was s-on while flashing kernels) it doesnt work then i would suggest attempt to s-off your device via wire trick but be sure to read up thoroughly before you attempt that as some people have bricked their device doing so.
Edit: also i would suggest wipe all partitions except sd card then flash rom and then flash kernel right after to avoid issues.
Could I try to flash a kernel first before flashing. I tried looking for a kernel all day and can't seem to find 1. I used the mobility ota Kernel which does not seem to work.

Hmm I haven't heard of that kernel before and there aren't many to choose from on this device. First off do you have the ICS ruu? If so just flash faux's kernel with any of theroms that are based off of sense 3.6. Here is the link that is also under the development section of the forums http://faux.androidro.ms/ruby-faux123-kernel-v017.zip for the ICS version ROMs (most of them are) I would suggest speedrom 7.5 as I found it pretty decent for a sense based rom. But you have to flash the ROM first then the kernel but if I recall 4ext recovery with the feature of s-off automatically flashes the kernel that is packaged with the rom it just ends up having to boot twice. So first just flash one of the new sense 3.6 ROMs via 4ext recovery - settings-recovery-check smartflash on and then flash the ROM kernel should automatically flash
Edit: stumbled across this in faux kernel thread might help if 4ext still doesn't work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951&page=181
I also had the wifi error problem for some reason when I tried to flash Speedrom 6.5 and 7.0 coming from Supersaiyan 3. Kinda fixed itself after installing Speedrom 7.5/7.6 so maybe try these two steps and it might work for you:
1 ) Of course make a backup
2) When flashing a new or old rom I always Wipe/Factory Reset from 4ext and then just clear dalvik cache, then install whatever rom you like. Never had any probs with this method such as the wifi error you're encountering. Just never got bt error.... weird...
Btw what rom are you currently on?
+1 if this helped anyone!

I've tried a few roms all day and still no luck.
1. After installing a rom, it always does 1 final step before a restart. It uses a previously saved boot.img which i think is causing my issue but i could be wrong.
1. One thing i noticed is when a rom boots up, the 1st thing it does is turn on WIFI followed by an error.
Has this happened or does any of this makes sense to anyone?
Once again, please help & thanks.

Bro its most likely a kernel issue you are facing WiFi issues usually are due to the incorrect kernel flashed or the kernel not flashed at all with the ROM however I would suggest that you flash the stock ruu file (however you will lose both root and recovery but those are easy to reinstall using hasoons tool or various other methods) I say this because this way you will know for sure if you have a hardware or software problem for sure. WiFi should work with stock ruu from your carrier (make sure to download your carrier specific ruu).if you feel you can do s-off via wire trick and then super cid your amaze you will be able to flash any and every ROM for the amaze. I have a suspicion that the ROMs that are out are based off of T-Mobile ruu and people with mobilicity have their amaze super cid to work with any carrier.however did you try flashing cm10 via 4ext maybe since that has an aosp kernel and if flashed with smart flash option in 4ext it may work.

Yea it could be the kernel because the thing you said about the 4ext recovery telling you that its loading the saved boot.img is what I always get and whenever i do get it, the rom always works perfectly. Also which version of speedrom did u try because I had the problem when I was using both 6.5 and 7.0. Try flashing the Supersaiyan 3 rom and then choose faux kernel from the AROMA INSTALLER. Then wipe as I told you in the posts before and then flash speedrom. It worked like that for me. Sorry if you still dont have luck!

Well OK I really want this to work for you after you mentioned the boot.IMG issue it may be that you need to flash an insecure boot image first. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1223086&d=1343307912 for s-on people this usually needs to be flashed via fastboot and not recovery. However since 4ext recovery seems to be an exception to almost every rule regarding recoveries it may be able to flash it. If not just flash via fastboot I posted the forum topic link that this issue has been discussed on in one of my previous posts in this thread. I'm positive this is your problem now.
---------- Post added at 12:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 AM ----------
Read through the issue on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951&page=181 seems like this is exactly the issue you are facing. I suggest after flashing which ever ROM flash fauxs kernel it's the best for the amaze anyway hope you get this to work I have exhausted the last bit of knowledge I have regarding this issue. Hence I s-off my device to avoid stupid issues such as these once and for all.
Should I try s-off before installing the GB ruu?

[Q] ID10T error - please help?

I have created quite a problem for myself and I am wondering if anyone can help me get past this ID10T error I created. Hey we all have those moments right?
I have an S On (not OFF or this wouldn't have happened) Sprint Evo 4g LTE that is fully rooted. I managed to screw the backup of my current ROM up so I don't have a backup to go to but I can't get the two ROM's I flashed (OMJ Elite and Fresh) to fully boot so I am kind of stuck and I am not sure how to get out of this situation.
I can get into recovery (TWRP) just fine so that isn't an issue. I tried to RUU but that didn't succeed as it gave me a USB connection error and I tried Panda to turn S OFF but that didn't work.
Is there a ROM I can flash with S ON to get to a place where I can turn S OFF? Or is there another way out of the issue?

[Q] [Help] TWRP / ROMs

Hello,
I am fairly noobish when it comes to phones but I have had a rooted OG EVO and now i have had a rooted EVO LTE. When i first rooted my LTE i flashed the meanbean rom and then a few months after that i decided to try out other roms suchs as CM10, Paranoid, and maybe a few others that didn't last too long. I just tried to go back to meanbean and it loaded about 75% and was just stuck. I let it sit there for about 45 minutes and nothing ever happened. I forced a restart and restored to a previous backup. When my phone booted up I noticed that it was acting funny and I later found out that some how my internal storage device was messed up. I eventually mounted my phone to my computer in TWRP and reformated so it now works as it should. I went to try and flash meanbean and it again freezes at the same spot. When i try to flash another ROM my phone beings to flash it and then it will randomly restart back into recovery. I have no idea why it is doing this. I tried to run my phone's RUU but my computer wont find my phone connected to it. When i try to use HTC Sync it also will not find my phone.
Sorry for the wall of text but at this point I am wanting to just start over completely fresh bc i feel that all of this flashing, restoring, and reformatting has really messed up my phone. Currently my phone has issues with it's calls. I sound as though i am very far away and I have never had this problem before so i am not sure where that issue is coming from.
If anyone has any kind of advice on what I should do please please help me! I can post any kind of information or clarification that is needed.
Thanks a ton in advanced!
Are you on newest version of twrp??

I am not. When i try to flash the newest version from bootloader it says, "Current version is newer" (or something similar to that) and then it will just boot loop in bootloader until i delete the zip from the sdcard.
Download goomanager from the market and use option to install open recovery script

[Q] Need help! "Data Call Failure"

I have had my HTC EVO LTE 4g rooted for almost a year with the following method...
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...s/192777-evo-4g-lte-1-22-651-3-root-easy.html
Last night I asked a question in the Sprint forum why Nascar APP would not go past the "Select your favorite driver..." Page.
Have you updated the data profile and PRL? If not, please do so. May I have your zip and cross streets? I am here for you.
Thank You
*Jacquice
Sprint Social Care
After performing the request (Update PRL & Profile) I get "Data Call Failure... Error code 97" I cannot access mobile data now. Will not connect.
I recently got an Airave 2 but this problem happens both at home and parked next to a Sprint tower.
Sprint tech tells me that because it's rooted none of their network reset codes will work (Probably a big mistake asking them for help!) :crying:
I found no answer searching this forum from anyone having this problem.
I also cannot do a factory reset. When I try to select it I get the Teamwin menu.
Can someone explain to me what I did and what I need to do? (Sorry I am not a cell phone nerd... All I wanted was to be able to run Apps that require root....)
I am still at....
Hardware version 3
1.22.651.3 71 ORD
Android 4.0.3
Sense 4.0
Thank you
Micro
I'd update to a job ROM. You are a couple ota's behind.
Unlock your bootloader and flash one of the rooted Stock jelly Bean ROMs. Ive never had a problem provisioning with a rooted phone with sprint.

I unlocked last year with the HTCDev unlock file. That's how I was able to root...
I flashed...
openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-jewel.img
CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip
So did I basically stay stock w/root?
What step should I do now? I need specifics please...

UPDATE:
Hardware version 3
1.22.651.3 71 ORD
Android 4.0.3
Sense 4.0
HBOOT 1.15000
Radio 1.05.11.0606
OpenDSP-v25.1.0.32.0405
Either relock and take all of the over the airs or s- off, flash the updated firmware, and then flash a jelly bean ROM based on the 3.16 update.
The stickies in this forum will help with specifics. If you s- off I would check in the firmware thread to see of you need to update the firmware incrementally or not.

I can't take anything "Over the air..." No mobile data connection....
I have downloaded and transferred the file "(ROM) Stock w Goodies 3.44" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701117)
Should I install this?

Nobody seems to be reading what I'm asking or just blasting out an answer with no specifics. The only "ROM" that I could find to download under the Sprint HTC EVO LTE 4g turns out to be HTC ONE and has put my phone into a boot loop.
Could someone PLEEEAAASE provide a link to a ROM that will work? Is this really to hard of a question?

Still able to boot into TWRP but that's about all. Trying to restore backup made with TWRP last year does not work...
Ok, lets try this...
Download this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124391
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390334956548391080
Then use this file
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390288116658474895
do a full wipe.. cashe .. wipe wipe wipe.. NOT SD card
Unable to boot (loop) using file "(ROM) Stock w Goodies 3.44" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1701117)
Unable to boot after wiping phone trying to restore original backup created when I rooted using TWRP.
Every ROM I find wants to install some damn software installer...Argh!!
I don't think I'm bricked yet but it only works as a paper weight right now...:crying:

Okay... downloaded
Venom IMG Flasher - 3.16.651.3.zip
Viper4G_3.1.4.zip
Extracted both into folders.
Ran Venom Kernal Flasher
Browsed to Boot.img and flashed.
Phone rebooted... stays on HTC "Teamwin" white screen.....
You extracted the ROM?

Ok, now try a wipe and install the viper rom.
I Dont think any ROM is gonna be what you need. If you have data call failure it's gonna be a provisioning issue and you will probably need to walk thru some epst codes with a sprint tech. Do not extract ROM. Get a fairly stock ROM to boot. If S-on will need to fastboot flash boot.IMG after flashing ROM. Once up and booted, try a different sprint tech. As long as you get a ROM with epst (pretty much any sense ROM), it doesn't matter if you have root, they'll be able to help. Maybe just don't mention you have root.

When you clicked on the exe file it automaticly loads the img file, You dont have to look for one. You need to just use the file that loads automatic.

I think we need to get him running before Sprint is going to help him. He is stuck in a boot loop.

I do not get a "Drive" via USB to copy anything over to the phone so I can only run the Venom Flash via command prompt using FASTBOOT USB...
