Unbrick/Recover your ACE (with odin and stock ROM links) - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Here are the four things you need to download (click on the "download original" button on the pages):
1 Odin Multi Uploader https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwNCaWy_zhKpZlFtZVZOWmdTbG1xWFdhVG1NSjF1dw/edit?pli=1
2 Cooper OPS file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwNCaWy_zhKpc3VraEtTNDNUZU9FM01KNG1WQkRldw/edit?pli=1
3 Samsung Drivers (You only need these if you dont have Kies installed. If you never installed Samsung Kies, then install these drivers) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwNCaWy_zhKpVWlWY3huaTdUOXlPR09YRWdYZFU0dw/edit?pli=1
4 The Firmware Package https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwNCaWy_zhKpYXFqaUhYc1dScy1tbURySk9wTFBWUQ/edit?usp=drive_web&pli=1
Ok, once you download all those, follow these steps:
5 Unplug your phone from the PC
6 Install the Samsung Drivers and reboot your PC
7 Extract the Firmware Package zip file and place the two files directly on your desktop
8 Run the Odin program
9 Put your phone in Download Mode and connect it to the PC
10 Put a checkmark on the One Package, Auto Reboot, and Protect OPS options.
11 Click on the OPS Button, and load the Cooper OPS file you downloaded
12 On the bottom of Odin, click on the One Package button.
13 Choose the long named file (S5830DDQ8_ etc.) from your desktop that you unzipped from the firmware package file
14 Press the Start button on Odin
15 Wait about 5-10 minutes, until Odin says "Pass!" at the top. You can then disconnect your phone and if it doesnt reboot on its own, turn it on.
Very Important: As soon as your phone loads, do a factory reset to avoid bootloop. Go into the Settings App, choose Privacy, and then reset the phone. This will complete the process and your phone will be back to an "out of the box" condition. :good:

Hi Sir, I followed your instructions even Odin Pass the flashing of the firmware, it always looping on boot, from samsung logo to boot animation then to samsung logo again, and so on..
glad you can help me here thanks

Be patient and try to follow carefully. But I am afraid to say that if you have done something wrong with above process then you may be never able to recover your ACE. After using Odin method and recovering your ACE to stock mode and following the wiping cache/factory reset etc your ACE will be in perfect factory released condition. After that if you wish to install any custom ROM you need to flash the ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6.zip file. This file you can get easily from Galaxy Ace XDA forum. ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6 will enable your rooted device recovery mode functionality to work properly while flashing custom Galaxy ACE 5830 ROMs.
P.S: Precautions:
1. Always use rooted device. (Flash 'Root.zip' once if your device is not rooted)
2. Always follow the instructions written by developer to flash his customized ROM with maximum care that you can for getting things done in proper way.
3. Read the reviews and posts of the customized ROM carefully to get yourself acquainted with the issues and problems of that particular ROM.

I was also having the same problem as of yours but after following the above instructions properly everything was all right. I hope you understand what steps 9-15 exactly means. If you don't then you have surely bricked your phone while trying those steps.
For getting your phone in download mode follow these steps
1. disconnect the usb and switch off the phone.
2. Press volume up + Down and connect usb to phone.
3. The phone will boot in download mode automatically and the drivers will be loaded.
Also let me know if you are successfully getting the 15th step "Pass" msg and if you are rebooting it properly and doing factory reset etc.. ?

flashing only takes 5-6minutes not 11..if u waited for so long better to unplug the device and put it again on download mode..on ODIN reset the files,,if u encounterting BOOTLOP download fullpackage which include APPBOOT, a fullpackage that i only used is XXKPH firmware, if u wanted to UPGRADE to 2.3.6 download XWKTM, XWKPT any of that file, its the best stock ROM last for a day..
note: if u are flashing via odin the OPS file should be renamed to Cooper_v1.0.ops this is very important so that flashing will success..

For Avoiding the bootloop go to recovery mod after you flashed the firmware and do factory reset and reboot the phone.,the bootloop problem will be fix..

Its already mentioned if you have read my steps carefully that- after flashing your ROM you need to do a factory reset/wipes in CWM recovery MOD; I think readers are not paying attention to that statement so I've changed the colour and font style

[Q] Problems with factory reset...

Hi guys:
So I have made so mistakes with this phone. When I got it I thought it was a Samsung Galaxy S 4G...
1. Rooted it using SuperOnClickRoot
2. Almost bricked it triyng to install a CFW done for SGS4G.
Then I realized that it was not a SGS4G and came here looking for some information...
I did that: Return to stock JFD (2.1) using that guide:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=702&p=11409&viewfull=1
And now I am a little more happier because the phone turns on, now the recovery works... But... When it get turn on it boot loop endlessly.
I tried so many times to do the same thing and I don't have a chance to get it fixed. Tried to move an update.zip to the external sd card without luck, I was triying to install ClockworkRecoveryMod.
So now I come here... The phone is boot looping and when Its turning on a lot of line with colors appear...
I know this have solution, just I want to know how to approach it.
Thanks for reading!
Redo the flash back to stock But this time 1st go into recovery and delete the cache then go into the advanced and delete the dalvik.
Then shutdown the phone and re open but this time you want to be in download mode (hold down the volume down only (or could just be the up only)) and on button at the same time to get you there.
Then hook up the phone to your comp after you have Odin up and then reflash stock
Then root> then flash whatever you want from there
good luck

any instructions on usiing all the files in the zip file might help too !!!!
Not hard to search (for instructions or the file).
Download it.
Open ODIN
load the recovery (PDA from memory)
put tab in download mode
connect to pc
click start on odin.
30 seconds later your phone reboots with the stock recovery
I have tried this and still stuck on 'samsung galaxy tab' screen.
all i need to do is wipe the GT, and install stock 3.1 rom on it and start again but cant find a instruction that will tell me ??
paul
^ please explain in detail what you have done... the files used and the steps taken.
Did you verify the md5 of the file you flashed in ODIN (if the md5 was known)?
All i have is the filesfordummies.zip file unzipped.
i need guidance from there on.
Cheers
^ are you using the stockretail tar file from that and odin? When you load the recovery, put the tab in download, connect to pc..... does odin have a yellow com# shown, if not, wait a bit... could be installing the drivers.... if it is showing and you have the stock recovery loaded.... press start, wait maybe 30 seconds and your tab should be rebooting.
what is not happening for you in that sequence?
After that my tab is stuck on 'samsung galaxy tab' loading screen and has been for around 2 hours.
paul
Hold down volume and power... release power when the tab splash screen comes up (still hold volume down).
what recovery shows up? I assume you had CWR before.... is it that, or stock?
what tab model do you have

[Q] Stuck in ODIN mode and can't get out

Hello
My situation goes as follows: I'm on a Cyanogenmod 11 nightly, as I flash a new ROM from time to time. So I know how to get into recovery and that kind of things. I've installed TWRP recovery, instead of the CWM one. I'm on a mac by the way.
As I was a little bit fast, I accidentally rebooted into download mode instead of recovery. Now my phone remains that way, only without the info in the top left (normally it says ODIN Mode and four other lines of information).
I tried to get the battery out and to drain the battery, both gave the same result: it booted in "downloading... do not turn off target !!"
I tried ODIN, Kies, Heimdall and adb trough terminal, and even the CM installer; none of these things seemed to recognize my phone.
I've been googling for over two hours now and I'm getting desperate. Is my phone ready for the bricks? I can't go to a shop tomorrow as it is the national holiday in Belgium. So still 32 hours of trying ahead of me...
Any ideas? If you guys have any additional questions, please ask.
Thanks in advance

Are you familiar with the PC flashing tool Odin? It's specifically for Samsung devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539
Download and install Odin onto your PC it will flash a stock image onto your device (No root, Stock recovery)
http://www.sammobile.com
Head to Sammobile and download your ROM firmware specific to your device.
Run ODIN on your computer and connect your phone.
When it recognizes it, check "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time".
Everything else should be left unchecked.
On your computer, unzip the ROM file you downloaded. It should give you something with the extension of
.tar.md5
Press "PDA" on ODIN and select this file.
Everything should be as shown here: http://gyazo.com/fea7a1c8b7a7b5bb287fb0a0c70056dc
Click Start and wait for it to do it's thing. It'll take quite a few minutes.
When it's finished, you're done.
If it hangs on boot ones it flashed, reboot to Stock Recovery and do a factory reset it should boot up fine now, (also 1st boot takes about 3 minutes.)
Let me know how it goes

Galaxy ace won't boot to anything

Guys someone plz help. I flashed some random ROM and now the phone won't boot up. It doesn't go to recovery or boot loader. Just keeps on rebooting. I tried all possible combinations but nothing worked.
Plz see the pics attached. Whenever m trying to boot into recovery and boot loader all I see is some screen like broken or something. (Second pic).

@burninitup, Humm I see where you come from,, Let's run an experiment on your device and see if we can restore it to its former glory .
Technically you did hard bricked your device ( claiming both Recovery and Download mode are not accessible), so your last hope might be USBjig to force your device into Download mode. However in some cases with black /distorted images these instructions might work:
1. Remove your battery for ~1 Minute ( don't make any difference though, just for discharging purposes ).
2. Phone is off, Now try to get into Download mode by pushing (Volume(+) + Volume(-) + Power) simultaneously; ONLY IF phone will turn on ( doesn't matter you have no visuals ), then press volume up;connect your device through USB cable; have your correct Wipe-flash able PDA/CSC/MODEM + boot loader+ pit file at hands ; Re-partition ticked ) .
phone should be detected in "ID:COM" area ( green USB signal), then proceed with your flashing over Odin.
Hope I did help you

Hi bro,
according to your problem it shows that you have Hard bricked your device you may need to provide it with JTAG service which may revive back your bootloader values then flash it using Odin
Thanks for ur reply but it is running fine now. I don't know what the problem was but i kept it without battery for around whole night and in the morning when i plugged in the battery and try the download mode, it worked and then same with the Odin and stuff. And it's running very well now.

Same Issue with me also
Thanks All. I have the similar issue. My phone boots again and again (I guess it is in bootloop) with no volume. Please guide me in flashing the phone to any stock/custom ROM and let me know if I have to start a new thread for this issue.
I have followed the procedure on the link: http://unbrick.itcse.com/unbrick-soft-bricked-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830/ and downloaded ODIN 4.38 but the phone is not getting detected in ODIN and it is not getting into download mode by pressing Vol UP + Vol Down + Power keys.
Then, I got a software named Samsung 300K Tool.exe which forces the phone into download mode. It forces the phone to download mode.
I have downloaded samsung drivers from the link: http://www.android.gs/download-samsung-usb-drivers-for-android/
Then, I followed the instructions provided in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELeDUwa9c34
It is instructed in this video to install Odin3-v1.85 in which phone is getting detected (pic is attached). I followed the whole process in the above video and the result is PASS in green (pic attached) but the result is same. No Improvement.
Please help and guide me to get the phone recovered to any ROM (stock/custom)
Any help will be highly appreciated.
@vijay.gupta, You didn't clarify whether you were on s5830 "i" variation, code name : CooperVe or not ,, I wrote an instruction for status 7 errors on CM11 (post#297) which you can proceed from the line starts with "- We need wipe flash-able zip package,,,," to get out of boot loop.
Get all of the tools from either sources available to you and get to your download mode and do the following instruction in regards of ( PDA/CSC/MODEM) / boot loader/ pit file ( doesn't matter you have no access to E3 stock recovery at the moment for wipe instruction , just put the required files into Odin3 and rest of the story was depicted in clear detail ).
@ ehsanotaku - I have s5830i variant.
i will follow the instructions on the following link by you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace/s5830i-develop/stock-rom-odin-flashable-firmware-t3002776

Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Failed to mount /efs

Hello a few days i restored my galaxy to factory settings from inside the own phone settings everything was working fine until a couple days ago the phone started to rebooting every now and then
Right now is stuck on the samsung logo after you turn it on and in the recovery menu i got this error
E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)
I try to wipe the cache date and even doing a wipe from the recovery menu but nothing when the phone turn on and gets to the samsung logo it stays there a while and reboots again
I try doing this instructions from this post from another forum
The key for me was selecting the second item in the Tools menu (Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation?) - it seemed to bypass that whole 'connecting' process and just went to work. Here's the writeup that I put together (I need to insert the Kies screenshots that I captured).
- if you don't already have the Kies software installed on your PC, download it (just search Google) and install it. The first time it runs it'll update itself to the latest version so make sure you run it once before proceeding.
- put your phone in Download mode: with the phone completely off, press and hold the Volume Down and Home and Power buttons simultaneously, and release them all when you see the Samsung splash screen
- connect the phone to your PC with the USB cable that came with the phone
-- if you've never had the phone connected to your Windows-based computer before, you'll see messages about installing drivers, etc - just wait until this is done (may take 5 or 10 minutes) [I don't know what happens if you have a Mac - it probably just works]
- in the Kies software, select the second item in the Tools menu and just follow the prompts to enter the model number (in CAPS) and IMEI/Serial Number (both found under the battery - it's ok to remove the battery at this point)
- the Kies software should start downloading the correct firmware for your phone from the Internet; once that's done (depending on your Internet connection speed) it'll begin downloading that to the phone (this probably takes 10 minutes or so)

Can someone please give a valid link to download?
Edit: Sorry, wrong post.
You can try flashing a recovery (cwm official is best) via odin but most likely you'll need to flash a stock rom, definitely if the cwm flash doesn't solve it.
