Downgraded feom 10G to 10e - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

So i didnt know that this was possible but i was on 10e i fubared my phone so i had to upgrade to 10G OTA. I ended up messing something up again and i booted into recovery and it wasnt letting me update using any zips i had at all then i tried using this zip stock_769Bk_10e_odex.zip and it started installing and when i rebooted i check my software version and it was 10e. Did anyone know that we could do this.

I have recently heard that such noobs are blocked forever from XDA. There is a rumour that even if people change names while creating new ids, xda can recognize them with various method and ban for life. Isnt it great?
By the way its great discovery :good: , we did not know downgrading was possible.

I'm not sure but I got it too. It failed when trying to update though. Probably because I already rooted it?
I went ahead and let it update, it's a small 3.5 MB update so definitely not anything dramatic. Changed software version from E97010l to E97010o. No change in kernel or baseband version. Will check and see if root method for international Optimus G still works...
EDIT: Root still works. Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, so feel free to update without the fear of losing root.
Here's a question: How are these updates pushed? My E970 is operating on Rogers and has actually NEVER been registered or run on AT&T. Are these updates pushed via the AT&T network to registered/operating phones, or via the Internet to specific IMEIs? In other words, will my phone ever get updates like this pushed?
How do we opt out of updates?

Hooray Arkansas! Anyway, I used Titanium Backup (after rooting and unlocking bootloader) to delete the LG FOTA app. I still get the FOTA notification, and it tries to install it. However, FOTA's install using stock recovery, and if you unlock your bootloader your stock recovery is overwritten by Clockwork Mod recovery so the device just reboots
Anyone else getting better battery life? It's been 12 hours since I last charged my phone and I've barely cracked off a 3rd of the charge.
This may be a question for another thread, but my update failed (guessing because my phone is rooted). If I temporarily un-root my phone and apply the update, would it work? I can then go back and root it again if need be, but I really just wanted to remove some AT&T apps and that was the only reason I rooted it in the first place.
Now I wonder if I've created a headache for myself in regards to updates. I should have done more research before rooting!

Like Deathmonkey said, the update fails because of your custom recovery. You would have to flash your stock recovery in order to receive the OTA. I think you can see how yo do this in the rooting guide thread.

what is the latest version of the software on your phone? I have E97010o, i sthis the latest version? I have a really bad battery drain due to fast dormancy on 3g and just wanted to check if the latest version takes care of this.

Man, I'm really sorry to be an idiot, but I couldn't find what you were talking about. I found the root guide in this forum, but there's zero mention of a recovery. Can you point me to the thread? Sorry, and thank you again.

I was under the impression that only the unlock installs a custom recovery. Does the root do this too?

That's a good question. All I did was root and uninstall a few AT&T apps. That's it. I haven't installed any custom recovery, but maybe that was done somehow?
Lesson learned for me: don't go messing with crap until I do my research
Edit: tried a hard reset, no luck of course. Only thing that did for me was buy me two hours now of trying to reinstall my apps. This is depressing.

Sorry to bump this back up. Just got my phone last night and rooted it with this method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941699
This morning I saw that my phone has an update available. Is it safe to update if I defrost all my frozen bloatware (I did not delete any of them, just frozen)?
I've read that I should not do OTA if I unlocked the bootloader whichI have not done, only root. I also searched and found out that I should not do OTA if I have a custom recovery which I do not think I have from the rooting directions from the thread above. Just trying to be cautious.
This update does not fix our fast_dormancy problem. I tried it on my OG the first couple days. I am now rooted, unlocked and running nottach custom att Rom.

Thanks for the reply. Was your phone rooted before installing the update?

Why not share now the rooted cwm backups?

Why not share now the rooted cwm backups?
Some say I rooted V10A or V10C and then did OTA update and kept root on V10E
Some say I rooted V10E and then did OTA update and kept root on V10G
etc etc....
This is happening since a week or more. But literally no-one, no-one did (tar format) backup of the ROM from CWM and no one did share it on XDA.
So does this mean everyone here is only for TAKING and not for GIVING???? Giving is such a joy but......
EDIT: How to share Rooted CWM Backup
Answer: Please visit this thread and check second and third post.
I am sure there are kind and exceptionally helpful humans in the world too who will upload backups very soon to mirrors.
Hmm.... 86 views and no reply. Great, that tells a lot.
Anyways I am not saying that this will work but we could give it a try and its safe too if done on matching variants. Still looking for sharers.
i still have my cwm full backup taken on 10e when i had root. is there a way to share that without my personal data part? 1.69gb folder clockworkmod. w/o blobs folder just 25mb

I guess you have P765 by your name but I am confused how you got V10E rooted on it? Please share your city in your profile and also inform your phone L9 variant (P760 or P765?)
Pal, the procedure of CWM backup is already given in first post. You have to take backup (in TAR format, not blobs) without your DATA and APPS. Just factory Data Reset and take backup of plain rooted rom. Zip it (around 500/600mb) and upload it to www.multiupload.nl
IMPORTANT: Before wiping out data, take full backup for your own restore.
well many of us are stucked at 10a with root and cwm and also looking at this thread :silly:

If only I weren't on v10a I would share my backup as fast as possible but that s it...

is there a way to install 10e kdz on tmobile p769 10g?
Re: Why xda pals here are not sharing rooted cwm backups?
I dont have root on my current device (10G P769) but I have a secondary device on 10G with root. Currently doing a system dump with all partitions in .img format. When im done I can do a cwm nandroid as well.

flash 10e rom to your phone, but you need get LG 10e rom first
I did not wanted to post all this, but SADly I had to do this, posting the posts of people who claimed they could KEEP ROOT on higher updates via OTA. If they share thier plain CWM Backup (without personal Data), rest of the people who can root V10A and could not Root higher updates can RESTORE it.
I even wanted someone post rooted V10H P760 CWM TAR backup, which I will flash on P765, yes P765, coz P760 KDZ works perfectly on P765 without any issue. In fact I am on unrooted P760V10H on P765.

Technically yes!! But we have to find out. If you are on V10A rooted P769 and CWM installed. You should be able to Restore CWM backup of Rooted P769 V10E sent by someone else. All you have to do is COPY the BACKUP folder (2013-02-05.08.24.41) in...
/sdcard/external_sd/clockworkmod/backup/2013-02-05.08.24.41
...and restore. I dont guarantee this may work, but the thing EXPERIMENT for which we are all here on XDA.
If this gets successful, WE AUTOMATICALLY GET OUR SEMI-CUSTOM ROOTED ROMS. If fails we have nothing to lose. :fingers-crossed:

Uploading as we speak. I have a L9 at my job here. Has our dummy gmail on it to download apps, was too lazy to reset it lol.
Also comes with voodo ota keeper and root browser lite.
Multiupload says I have about an hour for it to upload so hang tight.
P.S. Doing a CWM backup, has the same stuff I just mentioned.
EDIT: Here's the link to the initial backup. Will post CWM later if still needed.

Yes, yes!! And I got just excuses one acceptable and one not. Please don't ask me to reveal names I dont want issues here. We just need GENEROUS people to upload their CWM backup if possible and as soon as possible.
MORE1: I also asked people to share the MIRRORS of downloaded official unrooted KDZ of P769 for my Archive thread. Because everyday LG links are disappearing (many P760V10E links are now not working after V10H came). But nobody uploaded anything to mirror. Two of them promised P769V10E to me but simply ignored till date. Again please don't ask names, browse a little and you might know. Now dont make me BEG to rest of them.
MORE2: I , alone, downloaded ALL (YES ALL) AVAILABLE SOURCE CODES (though not my variant) and MIRRORED them for future work and now we dont have to worry if original company links dont work. Now its not possible for single person to download all those KDZ (all 500+mbs) and upload to mirror. I expected my friends will also help the community, not a single mirror created by anyone. Fine...
In short, I am doing my best to keep this forum full of resources but not getting good RESPONSE and above that, I have to answer questions like you just asked me one here. Anyways thanks a lot to you too, because this made situation more clear.
I hoped LG L9 have bright time in future. Here I think "future" is the best word, and that time is not "now".

[SOLVED!!!] Club of users stuck on Unrootable P769-V10G. [ROOT V10G NOW POSSIBLE]

NEWSFLASH: Rooting V10G P769 is possible now... visit this page

Lolz. Title says it all. I am just curious to know how many of you are stuck on Unrooted P769V10G?
Facts+Observations (till post update date)
P769 V10E is ROOTABLE
P769 V10G is NOT ROOTABLE
P769 V11A Wind Mobile is also NOT ROOTABLE
Some were on Rooted P769 V10E and accidentally or unknowingly they updated (in sleep) to V10G and lost Root and now stuck on it.
Once on UNROOTED V10G, you CANNOT REVERT BACK to V10E or previous roms (if any). Some people tried but they got some weird results.
Once on V10G you can flash "V11A Wind Mobile" kdz but that also CANNOT BE ROOTED.
.
WARNING: DO NOT FLASH OTHER KDZ FROM P768/P765/P760 ON P769 AS THE HARDWARE IS NOT FULLY COMPATIBLE AND YOU MAY PARTIALLY OR PERMANENTLY BRICK THE PHONE.

Not kidding...
I read somewhere on L9 threads that once upgrading to 10g or 10h, you can't go back to 10a, is this problem only on P769? because it's possible to downgrade down to 10a from 10h on P760. but... with some little troubles
you see after downgrading to 10a i coudn't even type my simcard pincode, because the phone was horribly slow!
i had to soft reset (power button + home key + volume up) after resetting it was allright but a new problem here after resetting.... i lost everything, LUCKILY i setup LG's backup tool to backup everything twice a week, so restoring with this app is a life savior i tell you, it even restore settings, downloaded apps, homescreen settings and widgets, everything!

Good information and great suggestion. Thanks a lot. But there is no problem for P760/P765/P768 at all. Pals are flashing any roms anytime.
The problem listed and to discussed here is about P769, the variant which is intentionally made rigid by US Carriers. More information will be appreciated. Anyone?
IS there anyone who tried flashing P760V10A rom on P769? Just for time being, then it can be rooted and then CWM backup of P769 can be flashed. Well I am not sure this will work, and not asking anyone to do it.
Just asking if anyone tried this way before or not?
Flashed the full 10g kdz, so there was no way possible for me to keep root. And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm an idiot.
Looks like cgigate tried flashing with bad results
Don't want to mess with it to much now, going on vacation this week and don't have a backup 4G phone.
I almost had a heart attack when my phone was upgrading. How fortunate I was to have installed Voodoo Root Keeper as instructed in the rooting thread.

On my P765 OTArootkeeper does not work on any P765 Roms.

Another poor soul here, bought mine at WalMart two days ago and stupid me updated before even leaving the store. Discovered that I'm an idiot after searching for rooting info on this phone. So yeah...... I'm stuck too. Can't even exchange it since I threw the box away and everything.

Oh poor you. That's too sad. Should have at least browsed xda once before update. And throwing box after purchase within a day is really insane. Nobody does that.

I was on 10G but I used KDZ offline to install the Canadian 11A. Still not able to root but less bloatware and everything seems to work better.

No!!! factory reset will only remove apps and data entirely from phone memory and internal memory.

You can switch between V10G and V11A but can't root both. And no switch back to V10E. Say thanks to your US providers. Not to blame LG. They don't restrict this anywhere else in the world for P760/P765/P768.

I really don't know if you can name this method "secure" buy I made a 145 to 141 downgrade in my son's Atrix. If you are interested, take a look at this (spanish) post
http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/73892-failed-to-boot-1-en-atrix-att-236-45145/#entry1110488
Best regards
I did it
My atrix 4g came with 4.5.145 ATT, i downgraded it with cruizgaray tutuorial, going back with 4.5.141 with an sbf file.
after that, the bootloader failed to boot 1.
I fixed it with de gooapk 4.0.0.2, and bang, downgraded, bootloader unlocked. ATT 4.5.141
after that i tried to go back to 4.5.145 but the goapk didn't let me update the firmware. Not important.
I rooted it with fastboot. At first, i had problems rooting it, but i realize that some program, "Moborobo" was interfering with root process.
Ive seen this message: ADB server didnt ACK.
I killed the moborobo.exe with task manager, and rooted it with no problems.
Rooted and unlocked, i installed the clockwork mod recovery, made a backup, and installed Jelly Bean, with some CM10 file, that i found in linuxmobile.org/atrix.
Now, i have an atrix with jelly bean 4.2.
There is some bugs, but i think they will keep updating and fixing bugs. :good:
don't update your Atrix4

My phone is not rooted or BL unlocked if ill brick it can i return it for guaranty product?

I think is a recovery mod. But not important. Once you have installed the CWM this goapk will be gone.
And no, there is no waranty once you do this. Do it at your own risk.

Or i just din't find another way, don't know if someone else did.
My phone is great, i am ulocked, and rooted, i can use the custom rom i choose, or fruitcake.
i am experimenting some roms.

{tried} failed new to lg bootloader (have looked)

hey all, new to lg bootloader unlock, not soo much on other devices, my personal fav. (hero) one of my 1st. anyway, i have read 4 dif ways of unlocking the bootloader, and some i rtied and some i did not (yet) try due to being kindah scared. plz inform me which is the best way and is there something i missed, i have looked around all day and really.... there has to be a better way. (1) chinese method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667 / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553547} allthou i have found many links this one explains it the best due to its simplicity, 2 the whacked out method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639} this i wasnt ready to try yet as i work 18 hours a day and i need to get up at 5 tomorow. amen to the working men. 3 + 4 were just stupid sounding so ill avoid them but the 2 main ones were posted by many people in many fasions. #1 i tried says my phone is rooted when checking is root checker, but its not really because a. i cannot run apps which require root and b. how could i be if my bootloader is not unlocked. im tired and drunk from all this after work work.... plz someone point me twords an easier way to do this. and if there isnt any since march 2013 then at least tell me that #2 will work if i do it right. ty
ps. this is not a question but a demand and sorry for the grammer havent been in the us in ages.
First, wrong section. This should be in questions or general section.
Second, there's a chance LG really did lock more recent users out of their bootloaders. Possibly with a OTA update, or just manufactured that way. It's not a process others would hold your hand through, and it's beyond frustrating to even help when also being stuck on a locked bootloader as well
The unlocked users have tried to the best of their ability to explain what the process is, and it's been reposted over and over and over so now it's a whole big mess and it's really confusing. The oldest guides worked best and proved to help out more users.
All I can say at this point is good luck, hope you figure it out because everyone else is just as stuck at this as you are.

If you can install the bootstrap recovery that works on locked bootloaders try using that and flashing kuma's modded stock ROM, I recommend it :good:

If people could look around before asking redundant questions new threads, that'd be absolutely fantastic. Google "LG Optimus L9 bootstrap recovery."
Not that hard.
