EDIT:
After messing with the 3.5 Dash D170 for a while, I've figured out a few fixes that you can do to get the most out of it. Below are the links with pertinent stuff:
Root the device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40433602#post40433602
I ported cwm recovery with video enabled.

I just got a Blu Dash 3.5, and for some reason Google Play thinks it's incompatible with my phone (same with Calendar, but I can live without that for now.) I tried searching for a Google Voice APK on the forums and was able to sideload install it and run it, but it kept running into mysterious connection errors when logging in.
Is there any way I can get Google Voice running on this thing? Anyone have the latest APK I could try?
The phone is running 2.3.5
FYI, the sideload I tried was 0.4.2.54 , available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561786
Some more detailed information on exact things:
Phone has no SIM cards installed currently, only WiFi
Downloaded Google Voice from the link provided above. Application installed, open app.
Welcome to GV -> Next
Select an account (my account is selected) -> Sign In
Access Request -> Allow
Signing in ... (waiting 20 seconds)
We have a problem; Your account status could not be loaded. Please try again.
I have a perfectly usable wifi connection. Why would this be happening? Thanks!
Wanted to give an update.. I seem to have gotten this sideload to work in a strange way.
After installing a SIM card and going into voicemail settings, I changed it from Carrier to Google Voice, which then had no problem signing in. It's possible that this forced it to accept the credentials, or it's also possible that Google Voice will only authenticate on a mobile data network and not WiFi.
I ported cwm recovery with video enabled.

I guess it's a bit late to answer but as I have spent 3 days trying to save the Star 1 of my daughter (Don't know how and why but it was full of viruses in the system/app directory), So I would left my testimony somewhere because there was a lack of valuable info on this device.
First of all, Even if you manage to find and run a working bootloader (with "flashify" app, it will be in chinese and won't stay installed. To be clear the next time you're booting you're back to the original bootloader...
For this reason, I have decided not to give up on triyng the "miui" custom rom and tried instead to find a working stock rom.
It seems there very few rom that could be installed on the Star 1 to be honest I only have find one working, a chinese one witouht Gapps or any market app and only in english and chinese...
So what you need is the stock rom "ROM_MF3.1.11_ZTE_STAR_20150602.zip" => https://yadi.sk/d/pAMUQZxWhBDeN or google it
Kingroot PC => google it
GOOGLE APPS => pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140503-signed.zip => https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407592656 or google it
ES Explorer apk
So I installed this rom with the stock recovery and then I get the root acces with kingroot PC (windows release).
I installed ES EXPLORER from an apk on SDcard and gave it root acces
The You have to unzip the gapps zip file on a sd card and copy manually the "system" directory into the "system" directory of your device.
Then you have to restart you phone and simply update google services app when it ask you.
You can add a language with "morelocale 2" install it from google play.
I hope this could help - if you have a loolipop rom it shoud be ok if you install the loolipop gapps the same way.
Hi there,
I have purchased a Coolpad 8017 mobile phone in China running Android 4.4.2. I have (apparently) rooted the phone using Kingo Root and Super SU is functional. I attempted to install Google Play and the associated framework using the guide on theandriodpit.com:
Here is the guide:
Download a couple of APKs, you can usually find the newest bundle in a zip package on XDA Developers:
•Google Play Store (the newest version you can find)
•Google Services Framework
•Google Login Service/Account Manager
If you are rooted you can copy them to your root directory to System/App using a root manager like ES File Explorer. Then just restart your device.
When I try to access Google Play and it asks me to enter my account information, this message appears: ''Unfortunately, Google Services Framework has stopped''. Then after inputting my email and password, it hangs on the 'Signing in....''This can take a few minutes.....'' screen.
Is my phone rooted properly? Have I missed any important steps? What else could be the problem?
Thanks,
Andrew.
I can't install a new custom ROM as there doesn't appear to be any available for my device yet. Please help.
I'll take my question elsewhere. You're helpful folks aren't you?

Hi All,
So I just picked up the Honor X1 (a.k.a Mediapad X1) (Chinese version) of this awesome device. I love everything so far, with a few exceptions.
DISCLAIMER: I looked ALL over the web, including but not limited to XDA and google, but didn't see anything relevant and/or that worked.
So here goes. Hopefully someone has more of a clue than I do of how to get things working
1.) Google Play music doesn't work. When I try adding an account, I immediately get the "Couldn't sign in - There was a problem communicating with Google server. Try again later". Message. Note that it doesn't actually attempt anything. It goes immediately to to this message. Yes I have an active data connection (wifi and 3G are both working), Yes I installed google play services (march 16th 2015 build), and google play music (march 16th 2015 build), and went through the "App center" and tried to install everything (except google plus. See item #2 below)
2.) Google + fails to install with a "silent install failed". I also tried downloading the APK and it just says it fails to install. I do not care at all for google + but I want multiple google accounts which is why I am trying this.
3.) Multiple google accounts? especially for hangouts, email, and google play music?
4.) The UI is all in Chinese. I know this is to be expected, but I was hoping there would be some way to force it into all-english. (Please note: I am NOT rooted).
5.) Any way to install GasBuddy? THANX!
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU

Salam ya Basha! Shukran for the response.
I actually did try rooting, but everywhere I looked the information says use RootGenuis which fails at the last step (one tough phone), and if i click the "root manually" button it takes me to a dead link to a page in Chinese.
Any idea how I can succesfully root this to start with?
Also, did you by any chance figure out how to change the UI into something more usable (Arabic is an option but I prefer English)

Thanx! Rooting worked via VROOT, although my laptop is now loaded with spyware / malware I can't seem to get rid of.
I installed Google plus (via sideloading the APK. It didnt show up in the play store), which gave me multiple accounts (by following the link you provided).
I also got Google play music to work. After installing G+, I had to remove the google account and re-add it, and voila google play music works.
For the benefit of others:
1. Root (via Vroot/iRoot but watch out where you download it from)
2. Follow the guide to install the google maps via a root-enabled file explorer (I used root explorer)
3. Reboot
4. Remove all google accounts and re-add them
5. Launch google music and set up normally
I will mark this as solved. THANX
Thanx!
Hello there xda developers-Community ,
this is my very first post and I hope this is the correct board I'm posting in .
I have an issue with Cydia Substrate on Android, but before explaining to you what the issue is, I'd like to explain to you what I wanted to do and why I need Cydia Substrate (if you don't really care you can skip this, of course ):
I'm using a banking-app which, when detecting root on a device, stops working completely (it doesn't just show a warning, it refuses the user from continuing to the next screen). Of course, I don't want to unroot my device. So I did some research and came across apps like Hide my Root and RootCloak which is a Xposed Module. All of these apps didn't work for me, even when installed and set up correctly. After doing some research again I found out that it doesn't work for other users either... Doing even further research I finally came across RootCloak Plus which works with Cydia Substrate and not Xposed anymore. I can't confirm it yet, but according to the thread this method should work with my app. So, I downloaded Cydia Substrate (I tried the Google Play-Version and the APK from the website) and RootCloak Plus from Google Play. But now we get to the main issue:
Everytime I open Cydia Substrate it shows me a message saying:
Note: something about your device made it impossible for Substrate to perform its internal safety check; can you please contact saurik via e-mail?
Click to collapse
Of course, actually contacting saurik via e-mail wasn't my first option .
I tried to fix this issue on my own with doing the following:
I updated CyanogenMod to the latest nightly
I switched my superuser app from SuperSU to superuser and back to SuperSU
I tried changing the SELinux mode from "enforcing" to "permissive" with SELinuxModeChanger
Reinstalled the apps and rebooted my device serveral times
Unfortunately, even though this problem seems to be quite common, there are only a few to nearly no threads covering this topic anywhere (at least I only came across over a few of them).
Here are some of my specs and details, maybe any of this will help:
Device: Samsung Glaxaxy S4 (jfltexx)
CyanogenMod version: CyanogenMod 12 12.1-20150708-NIGHTLY-jfltexx (Android 5.1.1)
Superuser App: SuperSU Free (CM) v2.46 (binary up to date and SuperSU working with other apps just fine)
BusyBox version: BusyBox v1.23.2-Stericson
Root properly installed and working, confirmed by serveral apps.
Do you have any idea how to fix this issue? I hope you can help !
Thank you very much,
DigitalClark .
I have the exact same issue. On my streaming app, xposed module allows me to bypass warning, but I still can't watch any shows...
Lg G3 D855
Rooted, Resurrection remix 5.5.4
Lollipop 5.1.1
I've emailed Saurikit on the email address provided on google play, but no reply...
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
I have the same problem on a Sony Z2 (sirius) CM12.1
So if anyone has an idea for a solving I'd highly appreciate!
Bump, in-case if someone has ran across a similar issue and found a solution.
Cydia Substrate is supported on Android 2.3 to 4.3 according to their website. Also the app itself hasn't been updated since 2013. Thus the chances that it will work on 5.1.1 are pretty dim.
I get the same message. I am just wondering if SuperUser is the reason. I don't think SU can find it, will this cause the internal safety check message to occur?
If you jail break your device it will work
I have the same problem ASUS ZenFone 2
Hi all,
I have a ZTE S2004 from China that does not have the usual pre-installed Google apps. I had e-mailed the manufacturer (both the North American and Chinese customer service) and was notified that because the phone is from China, it does not support Google services.
I recently found out about and downloaded KingRoot v4.5 and Root Explorer v3.3.5 to try and install Google APKs as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874285. I installed the APKs , then changed the permissions to align with the other APK files, restarted the phone and then tried to install the apps via the APKS. They all said installation successful, but the apps crash and do not work, with the error message reading "Unforunately [program] has stopped".
Thanks.

Most likely because that thread is 3 years old. The apps are very outdated. Would try the same steps with the updated version of the Google apps.

Should just need the Play Store and Google Services Framework installed to get started. With 4.4, they should be placed into /system/priv-app with the correct permissions. 0644 I believe. Once placed there, permissions set, and rebooted, you should be able to access the store and download the rest of the stuff you need. I'd just grab them from a 4.4 Gapps package. They will be slightly outdated, but should be easily updatable.

I have encountered a problem with the Play Store installation. I had downloaded a newer version of Google Play Store and have tried to uninstall it, but it still remains and I fear it is blocking the 4.4.4 version. I cannot remove it by using the default removal option or even root explorer. I attempted to reset the phone but that has not worked either.
The installation for Google Services Framework was successful, but when I tried to use the Google Play Store, it would open and subsequently close immediately, no error message showing and the process itself still running.
So you've deleted it with Root Explorer and it came back after reboot or there was an error when trying to remove it?
