I tried installing the zip file through recovery and also replacing bootanimation in system\media using fileroot but still no luck.
This is the boot animation
http://www.mediafire.com/?3a6s1dsoeh4e88a
Is there a specific way of doing it on a one x+? I keep getting the stock HTC boot animation when both starting and shutting down.
I am using One x+ ATT unlocked with Elegancia w/o theme
Are you sure that this zip wasn't made for for a ROM which symlinks the bootanimation to /system/media? On the international X+ the bootanimation is located in /system/customize/resource and is sometimes also named hTC_bootup_ one.zip. But I don't know whether it is the same on AT&T phones.
If it didn`t work by copying the zip with root explorer then perhaps it is a flashable?
i got att i had to rename any bootanimation, zip to ATT_bootanimation.zip to get it to work overwhrite att ****..i just reunlocked my boot loader and rooted my one x+ on AT&T took ur file extracted it renamed bootanimation.zip or added ATT_bootanimation.zip USED ROOT EXPLORER copy it to system/customize/resource copy over ATT_bootanimation.zip BS. set permissions rebooted cool a.s.s. boot up..worked fine for me..nice bootanimation..

is it possible to pull a boot animation from another Rom? if so how do i do it?
Yes you can do it. I won't get too in depth cause there are several threads explaining how, but copy whatever bootanimation you want to SD card first. Then depending on what ROM you have the bootanimation could either be in /data/local, /system/media, or in stock ROM i believe /system/customize/resource. Rename the stock bootanimation to bootanimation.zip.bak in case you want to revert then copy your new bootanimation to same folder and make sure the filename is bootanimation.zip and the permissions match what the previous one was which is (rw-r--r--). Reboot and your done. Same thing can be done with the downanimation also.
Thanks found an animation from another ROM I liked and wanted to put it on ROM I like using

Thank you! worked perfectly. other than verizons bootanimation is named VZW_bootanimation.zip. worked great!
I have my own deodexed, and fully rooted Rogers Rom.
No matter what I remove or add I cant seem to get my custom bootanimation to load.
I added the function of it with dsixdas Rom Kitchen tool, so i get a place in data/local to add a bootanimation. I added one in there, didnt work.
I then looked in system/customize/resources in here I had a bootanimation, downanimation, Rogersbootanimation, Rogersdownanimation.
I removed both Rogers animations, then replaced the other bootanimation with my one.
Still nothing, the only bootnaimation i get is a black screen with ANDROID in the centre.
No matter what i do cant get it to see my bootanimation??
Any ideas
Rename yours to whatever the stock one is called. Rogers_bootanimation probably. You can do the same for the down animation as well. Overwrite the files in the folder.

Are you rooted? There are a couple of ways. If you have RootExplorer (or any other file explorer app) go into /system/media and replace the bootanimation.zip. The new file MUST have the same exact name as the one you are replacing. Best bet is to rename the old one (i.e. bootanimation.zip.old) and place the new one. Change the permissions to match the other files in there (rw_r__r__). Reboot and enjoy.
Second method would require you to have the root and CWM installed. You can find and download flashable bootanimations and use CWM recovery to flash.
I prefer the first method though..
Mine doesn't seem to have a bootanimation.zip. There's a bootsamsung.qmg and a bootsamsungloop.qmg but those are the only things that seem to be related to boot animation.
Try replacing sanim.zip using the same instructions as above.

I think stock Samsung Froyo and GB roms have these files.
I have two Players and one of them is still on stock Samsung GB (rooted). And as you mentioned, files are not in zip format. So... I am not sure what to tell you here. I had my other one with a custom GB Rom which had the .zip format boot animation and it was piece of cake to replace. So... you can try a custom rom or just leave the booranimation as it is, I guess...
Maybe someone else has a better suggestion for you.
Flash with CWM Recovery
I'm not too sure whether you can change the boot animation on a stock rom, but on the custom rom i'm using, there isn't a bootanimation.zip file. I simply flashed the bootanimation.zip file through CWM recovery.
Hope this helps!
Well, I'm now on JellyBean with last HBoot, so I flashed the Deodexed JB rom, and I want to change the bootscreen from another rom (one of the ShadowDX rom, for example).
Is there any way to flash another bootscreen by aroma or another file manager? (I suppose that JB rom users can't do this vĂa root explorer, because of HTC system protection)
Thanks in advance
In the folder /system/customize/resource there are two zip files, one named hTC_bootup.zip (for the animation shown when you start the phone) and one named htc_downanimation.zip (for the animation shown when you shut down your phone). Just replace them with your desired ones using a file manager of your choice. If you are doing it from inside android, make sure to remount system partition as writable.

I'm on OF1 and rooted. Anyone know how to get rid of the red Verizon splash screen when the phone is powered on?
Download attachment below and replace all files on system > media folder. set permissions to 0644 and reboot.
How do I set permissions? Also, what does this replace the Verizon splash screen with?

Use any file explorer with root functions. Boot animation came from stock i9505 lollipop.
Can I just use Flashfire and just flash the boot animation zip using that and reboot?

Would ES File Explorer be able to do this? If not, which file explorer would you recommend?
I did not see the original bootanimation.zip file under /system/media, so I renamed the four samsung files (bootsamsung11; bootsamsungloop22; bootsamsungmini33 and bootsamsungminiloop44) from .qmg to .bak, then copied the new boot animation zip file I grabbed to /system/media. I still have the Samsung audio but just black screen before it went right to home screen...no new animation. Did I miss a step? I'm not finding posts on doing this with Flashfire (which would seem logical since it would be so easy). If I go this route, I would copy the boot animation.zip to /system/media, then run Flashfire and flash it , correct? Thats it?

The boot animation i uploaded is not flashable with any recovery tools .Just use root browser/explorer. Extract all the qmg files and replace the qmg's in system>media folder.
I did NOT find a bootanimation.zip in /system/media. All the sites and videos that describe doing this refer to it. I found one place on XDA indicating that the GS4 does NOT uhave the bootanimation.zip file and instead uses only the qmg files...that was what was throwing me off.. I found the Android Lollipop bootup (that uses qmg files), replaced the existing qmg files.... and it worked.
Then I explored how to change the audio as it was silent. I made a custom .ogg file using the THX movie theatre intro (you'll recognize it instantly when you hear it) which seemed like the perfect techie bootup sound. Found a site to cut its length (its a bit too long to match the boot up animation) and Presto!! I have this amazingly cool bootup animation with the perfect audio to match! The audio file won't upload here but you can get it here: http://www.thx.com/thx-deep-note/
Use an mp3 grabber such as http://www.listentoyoutube.com/, then cut it down (I cut off the first 10-12 seconds) using http://mp3cut.net/. Convert it to an ogg (http://www.zamzar.com) and replace the existing PowerOn.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui with the new file (renamed to match). Rename and keep the old one as a .bak file in case you ever want that Samsung sound again.

Es file explorer will/can if that directory exists. Enable root mode to access system files. Be careful not to change anything unless you are very sure you know what is is.
