[Q] Best Samsung Player 5 {rooted} Gingerbread ROM - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to a download link for the best and most complete and rooted Gingerbread ROM for the Samsung Galaxy 5.0 Player.
The one I am using was one that I believe someone used Superclick and repackaged from the stock Gingerbread OS that originally came with the device. It appears to me that it has some stability issues since it gets stuck with access files and will not boot up. I use clockword mod to restore from a good backup. As far as I can tell, the data area is where the problem is, but I can't get anymore granular than that. If I reboot half a dozen times, one of the boots will work correctly. The device will exhibit no problems whatsoever until the next power off/on.When that happens, I get frozen at the click to unlock screen.
I'd like to use Clockwork Mod to install the latest and greatest rooted Gingerbread ROM and hopefully this "corruption" issue will be resolved...maybe.
I'm also open to any other ideas.
Model number: YP-G70
Firmware: 2.3.5
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-G70UEKI8-CL566269

You could try Chip v1.5. I used it for a while before i switched to cm10 and it seemed really stable to me.

I think there is REDD for the 5.0. That looks great.

No, I'm pretty sure R.E.D.D is only for the SGP 4.0 (YP-G1) at this time.

I think iJimaniac released a test build for the 5.0 in the middle of the thread somewhere.

Crash831, I will definitely look at getting Chip v1.5. Just looking for something stable, no testing phases. This sounds what I've been looking for!

Yeah I saw this on their forum. Can't wait for someone to use hellraiser (don't know if it can be used for ICS) for this one
No I haven't seen anyone try to port to the att version. You should port this to our phone that would be a great start we just need the drivers for the gpu so we can have hardware acceleration.

Once it's out of alpha phases I'll probably poke at it.

Ok, so has anyone attempted to flash this onto our att SGS2? I have been messing with flashing the i9000 ICS directly onto my captivate and other than button configuration it is fun to mess with.
I KNOW some people flashed i9100 based roms onto our i777 phones in the beginning and it is not a good idea.
NOW saying that, for the captivate using the i9000 ICS they have been able to flash back between the ASOP build and CM7 with no issues since they both are using mtd. But since our phones are not using mtd I would assume it would be different? So basically I was wondering if we would be able to flash in between AS LONG AS WE ARENT FLASHING BOOTLOADERS? Glad to see some interest for ICS for our phones as well. I was thinking the older SGS phones would have/will have it before us

That video was pretty good, for an alpha release. I'm really looking forward to that. On a related note, AT&T needs a Nexus device NOW, because I would like stock, unskilled ICS (and beyond) with all of the updates and future support it entails.
They are already up to Alpha 6! Looks like touch was fixed.

[Q] CM9 on SGP 4.0??

I am a little new on this whole development stuff, but I was curious if cyanogenmod 9 will be available to the 4.0 galaxy player. I have researched ice cream sandwich and it does indeed, look very interesting and it looks like it has some very nice features. If someone could give me a answer, that would be great I have a completely stock US version Galaxy Player 4.0. I know it would require root, and I am willing to if i need to.

JandyCane Port (proper Google Play Support), Fast, stable (so far) tablet mode

Hello everyone! I was here at work in the nursing home doing absolutely nothing and decided to try and port the Kindle Fire Jandycane JB 4.1 rom over to our tablet. I worked meticulously and was able to get the port to work and it seems rather stable except for our kernel limitations. I do not however get the updater script edited properly so a couple of features specific to the UI on the rom do not function but it is a nice alternative to the CM10 rom and it works fairly well. I especially like the baked in file browser and theme support! If anyone would like to add anything to make this rom better, PM me. We have a great community here and we all cant wait until the CM10 rom is as smooth as butter! I build this rom for fun and unfortunately I cannot provide any support since i dont really know what I am doing This rom is hosted on Mediafire and will only be available for thirty days as of 7/29. If a couple things get fixed such as proper mic support and location services, then maybe someone could host it on Goo-im. Thanks and I hope you like. P.S. Use Jelly Bean gapps and go check out the original authors page at xda developers kindle fire jandycane.
This is the link to the file. http://www.mediafire.com/?a3dzbc21v0tyfcd

Here are some UI pics. The rom is set to tablet mode which is the default with Jandycane. The other pic is of the baked in filebrowser. I believe this rom also has root access yea!

Everything seemed to work fine. Liked the home screen layout. Switched back to miui. Still had random reboot and blank screen issue. I know this is because of the kernel. When thoes issues get fixed this will definitely be the rom I would go to. Thanks!

Well, i have just installed this, and it seems to be as good, if not slightly quicker, than the other JB rom on the site. to be honest, its just niced to actually see a new rom pop up. im not dissing anyone obviously, but, i (still) have a htc desire, and the rom choice on xda is staggering, so, ive been hoping a few more devs/roms will start appearing!

Will be giving this a run over the weekend, I'll be stuck at work with hopefully not much to do.. I have been looking forward to seeing more devs pick up on the Nook Tab, surprised that the Kindle has so much more following given it doesnt have the SD card expandability of the Nooks
Well, the Kindle Fire has a pretty-much finished kernel, while ours still has it's holes in it. More developers should arrive when problems are fixed.

This port was quick and dirty. I will be more thorough once the 3.0 kernel is fixed. In the meantime i am thinking of porting over another Kindle fire rom based on 2.3. Any suggestions?

No, I'm talking about his next port. He said it was Android 2.3 based.
Ive been using this for over a day now, only had 2 or 3 reboots, so, love it. Well done again. Both the ics rom and other jb rom reboot too much for me for some reason.
Another problem ive noticed, is that whenever I do a nandroid of anything other than cm7, thwy always either have md5 mismatch, or they just boot loop. This rom did as well, so I'm just sticking with this for the minute!

People say the camera is kernel related but it could be the connections between the libraries to. Also hardware acceleration is in a 3.x kernel which could be ported eventually. I think jackpotclavin is working on that right now

Its an improper symlink between libmosaic.so and busybox in xbin. Also libcrypto.so. And init.trace in the kernel needs to be edited.
What about hardware acceleration too? If you can get this working for our SGPs, this is a very major step in the development and getting us very close to running JB. I would definitely install this rom if you get those two to work.

i used GE stock , ARHD 12 , stock 4.2.2 stock latest firmware and cant stand the proximity sensor issue. Thats why i came back to clean ROM 3.0 . At this point 4.1.2 its the most stable firmware !!!

Yea, that proximity sensor issue is pretty annoying, but there's a fix out there for it and I've heard the latest (2.24) firmware fixes that as well. Can't speak on it because I haven't tried. I'm on viper right now and they have a tweak to fix it, I also used the xposed framework fix to fix it as well.
