[Q] Won't boot after S-off - HTC Rezound

I recently got a replacement device after I cracked the screen on my old one. I successfully switched to s-off using hansoon's all in one toolkit. However, now every time it starts up, the juoponaut screen comes up and it stays there. I booted into recovery(Amon Ra) and tried to wipe and flash a ROM and it still does the same thing even when it says it has finished installing in Recovery I noticed I am getting a message that says
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcbk1p2
(file exists)
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1) (invalid argument)
Is there some way I can fix this. I have tried manualy mounting and it didn't seem to do anything.

I got confused reading through some of it because of the way it was typed out. But the errors in recovery are broken partitions, easy fix is do or have a nandroid backup if you need to...
1. flash your RUU
2. than make sure you flash your recovery right after the RUU before doing this next part.
3. than when your back on stock ROM go to settings
4. than storage
5. than unmount your SD card from there and click format SD card and reboot into recovery and install your ROM.
Was your s-off successful or do you need more help?

Thanks! I'll try this after class today and see if it works. And yes S-off was successful. I just get a boot image like the one when you do the wire trick when I start up my phone.

so i just rooted my phone but everytime i try to load bootloader to install a custom rom it does not load the bottom 3 icons just blink 10 times what ever that means... do i need to reroot?
That's the simulated battery pull, hold the power button until the phone shuts off and then hold power and volume down and the phone will go to bootloader. Check settings to make sure fastboot is off. If you still can't get to bootloader, use adb. Type adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery

Do you have a recovery installed? If not, I believe you can put one on the root of your SD card then install in from boot loader. TWIRP works great. Then you could flash a ROM.

if you need to load a rom to sd, go to twrp. select mount and then mount storage, by default the internal storage is selected. Mount to pc, if its corrupt, you will be prompted to reformat. from there load a rom and flash again. go back to bootloader afterward and fastboot flash kernel

I am trying to flash an android revolution hd rom
my phone is rooted , s offed, super cid, ICS
i wiped everything
did the android revolution hd super wipe
do i flash kernel first? and which kernel should i use?
phone keeps going back to HTC screen and stays stuck on it.
i am familiar with adb and cmd
any advice???
have you tried to flash any other roms? and make sure smart flash is enabled when trying to flash your rom?, or you can re-partition your device with 4EXT then use the "toggle usb" to mount your sd card and place the rom on there then try and flash it
Had that issue with a friend. Your internal storage is corrupted. Toggle USB and go on your computer. Right click the internal SD and format it. Restart recovery and it will be good to go.
silly me

here's a way to return to stock RUU, you need the all-in-one toolkit from hasoon2000
download this file Here and rename it to PH85IMG.zip (this file is for ICS) the older one for GB didnt work for me
use the "Relock Bootloader" command on hasoon's toolkit to relock your bootloader (i received a security warning when doing so, but still worked)
place the PH85IMG.zip file on the root of your SD Card
turn off device and remove the battery. Reinsert the battery then simultaneously hold the volume down and power buttons (to boot fastboot)
Fastboot will detect the image file on your external storage. After it loads, accept the "update" - this will revert you to stock (including recovery and radio).

yes the file listed in that quote is the one for wind mobile.. i updated it
I'm probably coming too late, but I ran into this issue before. It's because I flashed a new Rom, and rebooted my phone before finishing the initial setup. You have to get passed that first and get to the home screen, or the internal sd card doesn't get partitioned properly. Did you do something similar to this?
In any case, I wish you luck!

HTC Wont Read Internal SD

So yesterday i was using my phone and it randomly froze, then crashed and restarted and went into a bootloop.
So with my bootloader unlocked i attempt to do a factory reset, it brings me back to the bootloader, so i try to check the mount section and it tells me it can't mount internal/sd_card. So i assume that was the problem.
So for the entire day i've been trying to fix it, i relocked the bootloader and put an OTA_ruby on my external sd and ran that in fastboot, and it goes through the whole process then brings me back to the bootloader screen as if nothing it different. Rebooted, and it's still looping.
At the very least i'd like to remove the ***relocked*** on the bootloader screen so i can send it back in and get it replaced since i suspect this to be a hardware defect, but that's just my guess at least. I also attempted flashing with Hasoons tool when my bootloader was unlocked.
Please help, anyone have any ideas?

you need to relock your bootloader to flash the stock RUU you cannot do it while your bootloader is unlocked...if you can get to recovery you can just try to do a full wipe and then flash another rom
I did fastboot when my bootloader was locked, with the stock ruu and it just finishes and brings me back to the main menu of bootloader, where i reboot the device and it continues to bootloop.
I also turned my device into mass usb storage, formatted from my pc, and flashed 4ext to no prevail whatsoever. I feel like everything i do is so hopeless.
After formatting from the pc, i was able to mount the internal storage but i still cant get it to hard factory reset without it not reading the internal sd.

flashing the RUU has nothing to do with "fastboot", if your recovery isn't reading your internal sd properly.. check your partition alignment or just use 4ext to "repartition" the whole phone... okay here's what to do..
boot into 4ext recovery...
wipe all partitions (except sd card)
then format the Internal SD card.. then the External SD card
check for the partition alignments (in the tools section)
delete all partitions and re-partition the phone.. when it ask you for the size just select "SKIP"
once that's done reboot the recovery from within recovery (DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR PHONE AND ATTEMPT TO BOOT INTO RECOVERY)
once the phone's back in recovery again mount the phone via USB toggle..
place the ruu that you renamed to PH85IMG on your SD card not in any folders it has to be on the ROOT of the SD Card
next you need to shut down the phone and then remove your battery and then boot your phone back into fastboot..
the phone should then recognize the PH85IMG.zip file on your sd card and prompt you to install the "update" which is the stock ROM
this is the ICS Stock RUU make sure to rename it to PH85IMG before you place it on the SD card...
no luck?
Okay, i booted into recovery, wiped the partitions ( except sd card ), then i formatted both the internal and external cards, and wrote the new partitions by skipping through to the end. Then rebooted the phone into recovery from the 4ext menu, i placed PH85IMG.zip on my external sd card via usb toggle, shut the phone down took the battery out and it read the image but after the blue bar filled up it brought me back into the bootloader menu again, it never mentioned a "update" also i thought you could only use the stock ruu if your bootloader was locked?
My phone did that, I was able to format the internal sd on my pc, then formatted again in 4ext. I had a Rom, nandroid backup, and superwipe script on my ext-sd. So I ran superwipe, flashed the Rom I had been using (Energy-stock look) and then restored data from the backup, and then everything was well.

yes, i was assuming that you already relocked your bootloader for flashing back to stock.. and while flashing back to stock the PH85IMG zip on the sd card is usually read as an "update" i think when installing if i remember correctly

no i don't mean do a factory reset from the bootloader that doesn't really work well unless your phone is on stock.. and if you can get to recovery you might need to place your sd card in the phone and re-partition the whole file system from 4ext recovery.. because it sounds to me like your system files and file structure got corrupted somehow

This might be a silly question or may be I'm not very familiar with "stock RUU" but I just renamed the Tmous rom as PH85IMG and flashed running Juopunutbear Hboot and it did flash, and it said "relocked" afterward.
Actually I wasn't able to lock the bootloader before flashing RUU with the AIO kit.

No luck with using the internal storage as a method to flash.
I'd like to mention i am not S-off, i only unlocked my bootloader.
Just so we're on the same page for the repartitioning , this is what i did:
Unlocked bootloader - try to get into recovery, then i followed these steps
boot into 4ext recovery...
wipe all partitions (except sd card)
then format the Internal SD card.. then the External SD card
check for the partition alignments (in the tools section)
delete all partitions and re-partition the phone.. when it ask you for the size just select "SKIP"

next you need to shut down the phone and then remove your battery and then boot your phone back into fastboot..
"with sd card removed" relocked bootloader
pulled my battery and got back into fastboot with the sd card in my phone this time " renamed it PH85IMG.zip"
and no luck... did i do something wrong?

Disaster - Clockworkmod: Error while restoring /system!

Hello, I am Stelios. I am a new owner of Motorola Atrix although I have already encounter my first serious problem. I will describe the story from the beginning:
I was trying to recover some old sms using Titanium backup but after the sms restoration the system messaging application was crashing after reboot so I decided to restore a previous Nandroid Backup.
I start the restoration but suddenly the process stopped giving me the message: “Error while restoring /system!”. I tried more than one times but every time the procedure stops at the same time while it restores a specific file of the /system. I also tried two different Nandroid backups that I had previously made from the same ROM but the result was exactly the same:
Code:
CWM-based Recovery v5.02.7-atrix5
Checking MD5 sums…
Erasing boot image…
Restoring system…
Error while restoring /system!
I also tried to format /system before restoration but nothing happens again.
Any ideas that could help me to solve my problem?
Please help I need this device, I don't have a second one.
Maybe it is possible to restore through RSD Lite. I believe you'd lose all of your data on the phone though, I'm not sure. You could always copy it over through CWM and then try RSD Lite.

Hi, what's your recovery ? (from ROM Manager, Tenfar or Romracer ?)
First of all, I hope you know what RSDLite (or sbf_flash if you're Linux/Mac user), fastboot, ... etc.
Try flashing RSD file into your Atrix by RSDLite/sbf_flash. You can access RSD mode by booting with volume down pressed.

Sorry but I am not an advanced user yet and I don't know too much.
I have only one time used the RSDLite (I am a windows user) when I flashed the recovery.
I know that RSDLite is a motorola tool for flashing the original ROMS to the phone and I have also read that it is a too dangerous procedure that may cause hard-bricks.
Can RSDLite recovers .img archives from the Nandroid Backup I have made or do you propose me to flash the sbf archive of my official rom? Is it a dangerous procedure?
I now have a new bigger problem:
The phone can't go in fast boot by pressing the main key and the volume down.
When I plug the charger the Motorola logo or an battery image with a "?" instead of the battery image with the % percentage is appeared
When I disconnect the charger only a black screen appears and I can't boot the device by pressing the booting key.
After trying a lot, I found that the only way to go to fastboot is to put the changer holding simultaneously the volume down. After that, the fastboot loads and I can go to CWM recovery.
But I can't stay a CWM recovery if I disconnect the charger.
I think that I am out of battery and my battery can't be recharged in this state...
HELP!!!
Try formatting /system through CWM and then run restore.
^
And if it still doesn't work, download any ROM, plug your Atrix in your PC and then boot into recovery mode, go to mounts and storage, and finally select mount USB storage to put your ROM on your Atrix. Then flash this ROM to let your charge Atrix.
I think that recovery is corrupted or recovery did a wrong backup, it already happened to me.

I tried to do that but the only way to boot at flashboot is to have my phone connected with the power cable.
If I connect my phone with my pc I can't boot but there in only a black screen.
So there no way to put another rom in the internal sd card.
A solution could be to put another rom in the external sd card but CWM can't see my sd.
I can't flash ROMS from external sd card because it is not visible by CWM.
So what else could I do??
Please guys help, I have totally despaired...

Yes, the message is:
E:Can't mount /sdcard

1.There are the options "mount /sdcard" and "mount /sd-ext".
I think that my external card is the /sd-ext and the /sdcard is the internal one.
Selecting mount /sd-ext gives me the result : "Error mounting /sd-ext!
Selecting mount /sdcard gives me the result : "Error mounting /sdcard!
However, CWM can normally see the Nandroid backups at internal storey but it just can't restore the /system.
2.No, if I plug in my atrix on my pc that recovery closes due to energy lack. The battery has run out so the only way to boot to fastboot and then to CWM is to have the phone connected to the charger.
So what could I do?
if a flashable .zip of a custom recovery is in your internal memory storage you can try to flash it.
Otherwise, in recovery mode select reboot to recovery from advanced menu and while the time it takes to boot into your recovery, plug in Atrix on your PC. And if it still doesn't work you can try to charge your Atrix with MacGyver method, i'll explain you.

Thank you for your answer.
1.No, unfortunatelly there is no a .zip with a of a custom rom in my internal memory, That's the reason that I am trying to find a way to put a custom rom in the internal storey or make CWM to read the external sd.
2.I have already tried this. If I disconnect the phone from the charger it directly closes due to lack of energy so I can't plug it to the pc.
3.What is this method??
I bought a new micro SD card that finally was recognized by CWM.
I successfully installed this ROM but the phone still can not boot in the new ROM.
It can only boot in fastboot..
I thought that the boot inability was caused by lack of any ROM.
Now having install a new ROM why I still can't charge my phone????
What could I do to charge my phone????
If all were normal and I had forgotten for days to charge Atrix I would have encountered the same problem?
edit: I also tried a "wipe battery stats from CWM" but nothing changed.

Thank you for your reply but could you answer please my question about why I can't charge my phone?
If all were normal and I had forgotten for days to charge Atrix I would have encountered the same problem?
Try format system if it isnt work reflash the recovery

Do you mean that this is not normal?
The phone should be able to be charged under this state?
Why should I format the system? I have just installed a new rom.
Can someone explain me how the charging of Atrix works???

Phone has no OS and can't factory reset the device!

I'm sorry for posting this here but after about almost a day searching the entire internet for a proper solution, I have given in and have created this thread. So recently I was using my phone and all of a sudden it froze, and after pulling out the battery, it hasn't able to boot. Thinking that it was just another random soft brick, I proceeded to TWRP in order to perform factory reset and wipe data in order to flash a new rom. But unfortunately I keep getting the following errors:
E: Unable to mount '/efs'
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
E: Unable to mount '/system'
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount '/preload'
...done
E: Unable to mount storage
I have tried to format through adb but haven't been able to find a proper command, most require the phone to be at least booting. Please can someone help me out, I don't want to lose my data but also want to be able to use the phone again!
The problem is most likely twrp. Flash a clockworkmod recovery from the official website in .tar format. Flash via odin as you would a rom. You could also flash a stock recovery the same way.

This problem has been happening a lot recently, you might have to repartition

Exactly, not only have I tried to install cwm but also tried to upgrade twrp but even through Odin it fails and I get a NAND Write error. Any ideas on how to over come that?
This looks like my problem, but after trying to wipe in recovery, I can no longer boot into recovery at all. Download mode doesn't work either, no Samsung logo is shown, just a completely white screen.

That sounds like your phone got bricked, mine too on the verge of it....
If odin cant see the phone it's pretty much dead as you need odin to flash a stock rom. If you can get it seen by odin just flash a stock rom.

Odin is detecting the phone but I can't flash stock firmware due to some "NAND Write" error. Any ideas?
@Deathshead747, the standard way: try to flash a 3part firmware + PIT-file to repartition the internal memory. But probably it's gone
