[GUIDE] Updating to Jelly Bean 4.1. No stock rom needed! - HTC Desire X

So, you want to update to the latest Jelly Bean update that just came out, but you don't have a nandroid backup of your stock rom? Or you just don't get the update?

Here's how to do it:
Make sure that you want to update to 4.1, considering the bugs it has.
Download the files in the folder with the long number( 2.XXX.XXXX.X): https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6hJQKU_HrUFeWlJOGNPdURPYW8&usp=sharing (Courtesy of EasySR)
Rename them boot.img and system.ext4.tar
Download this file: https://www.box.com/s/4ks5ce2mic6ifnd27h7n
Now put them all on your sdcard in the following folder:
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/JB4.1OTA (create if needed)
Now download this file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38704456/PM66IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sdcard.
Reboot to the bootloader
If bootloader shows 'unlocked', relock the bootloader. Otherwise skip this step
Reboot to the bootloader
It will ask if you want to install the update, click yes
After this your phone will fail to boot up. Remove the SDcard
Reboot to bootloader, and select fastboot
Connect the phone to a PC with fastboot installed correctly
Download this file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39662992&postcount=66
Flash the downloaded file using fastboot [If your bootloader is locked, this is the time to unlock it )
Flash the boot.img we downloaded earlier using fastboot
Now boot into recovery
Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache
Select the Backup & Restore option
Select restore from external-sd
Select the JB4.1OTA backup we put there earlier
Finally, click restore
Reboot and enjoy Jelly Bean

Not at this stage. Maybe some experienced developers can look into the way the OTA updates the hboot, because we need S-OFF to go back unfortunately

Is the CID checked in the firmware.zip file? Otherwise cant they kust flash the ivoor update thru fastboot?

What's your CID ? I believe it's one of the listed CID for .401
For .401 CIDs.. they can fastboot flash the firmware.zip then restore the nandroid of a JB... it should work but not for other CIDs.. it may break the bootloader or the bootloader won't be updated.
So basically for those with the correct CID for .401, this should work without problem
I maybe wrong so we'll see anyone who is brave enough to take the risk to try this on non-401 CID

You may have the CID HTC__001 or E11
In fastboot run command fastboot getvar cid you will know your actual CID or use CID Getter from Play Store.
Don't get me wrong... your method is correct for correct CID.. I just wonder whether it works for non-listed CID... it won't for One X.

Yes I have when earphones plugged in but not using much for listening music.
