is there any Qi wireless power bank?
due to the capasity of dna's battery...i need to bring alot a powerbank....but keep on flipping the usb cover seems to be risky to snap the cover.
is there any Qi wireless power bank in the market? so i can charge the phone when two items are put back to back.
Forgive me if i totally misunderstood you but are you talking about a wireless charger you can buy from verizon or ebay, amazon?+

Or are you saying something portable that does not have to plug into the wall?

I believe the OP is referring to something portable. A "power bank" being a battery...
I don't think it's exactly what you mean, as from your post I picture (in my feeble mind..) a battery pack with a built-in QI charger coil. But, just to experiment and test something, I plugged my Nexus 4 wireless charger cable into my portable battery pack and it works just fine. The Nexus 4 charger may not be ideal for a car, since it doesn't lay flat, but I think the flat charger they sell at Verizon (an LG?) has a micro USB connector as well. If so, it may very well work with any of the battery packs which have a USB charging output.
Keep us posted on what you find.

Ew, I can't believe you guys are actually telling people to break their phones. I'm sorry your covers snapped off, clearly you're all very bitter about it. But let us, whose phones haven't broken and still look sexy, try and enjoy that fact.
I think the OP is looking for something like the mophie with built in Qi charging. I don't think anything exists that does that. I supposed you could hack something together so that a Qi pad connects to the power pack's USB port. It wouldn't be pretty but it'd work. The efficiency of the process though would be pretty painful (charging the pack = loss, wireless charging = loss, heat = loss).

Was wondering if anyone else has bad battery life even if plugged in with the factory car mount. If you leave display on it losses battery life. Shouldn't it provide enough energy to keep it at 100%. What do I need to do to improve it while plugged in? Thank you
I have also experienced this when using it for navigation or even just music.
Its a piece of crap, there is a thread on how to modify it to make it work, or you could buy one from http://www.craigsdocks.com/htc-rezound/ its 100 times better, it charges, it has way more mounting options and the mounts actually stay where you put them. Return that crap

Craig's docks are great. Keep in mind, though, that you need to supply the charger yourself. It only comes with the charging cable. It's the charger that you choose that will alloy it to charge while screen on, etc. I found a good 1.5 ma charger at a truck stop.

Not entirely true I have a cheap generic 1a charger connected to my craigsdock, it charges fine, using the same charger with the ibolt dock it would not charge. The craigsdock comes with a heavy gauge cable that allows more current to get to your phone, the ibolt has internal circuitry that robs a very significant amount of juice(like half).. I have heard they have fixed the circuitry problem with later models but not the crappy mount, the craigsdock suction cup mount is far better and you can also mount it without the suction cup using the mounting block. but the point is either they knew they were putting out a product that was crap and didn't care or they didn't know and therefore are morons, any company like that does not deserve your business. If a guy in his garage can do better ibolt should be bankrupt.

It involves opening it and jumpering and soldering, just return it and either get a new one without the problem but still with a crappy mount or buy a Craigsdock.
The first batch that came out of ibolt didn't force the phone to go to AC Charge mode, contact them, they'll send you a free replacement.
http://www.ibolt.co/contact/
You can confirm that is the problem by using the Battery Monitor Widget app, it shows if the phone is in AC or USB mode, it should be in AC or it won't draw enough power to keep up with the phone. The bottom line is the data pins on the USB connector need to be shorted so the phone knows it's not plugged into a computer USB port and that it can draw more then 500mA of power. The first generation of the dock didn't have the pins shorted.
Craigsdock is a very nice option, my only gripe with it is once you lock down the position of the USB connector, it's not easy to move, I like to use my phone with the extended battery occasionally, all I have to do is swap out the plate in the ibolt dock and I'm good to go.
I used my Verizon ibolt mount for one day....total garbage...returned it. Craigs is the way to go. You Won't be sorry

There is no "factory car mount." HTC doesn't make one. The one VZW sells is from iBolt, assuming that's what you've got, follow the advice above. The first batch was poorly engineered.

Try to visualize what you are asking for there. Think about the charging port location, the charging port door.
Then the answer will come to you.
BTW if someone has designed this, surely it must stick out like a spare pr*ck ?
Hes talking about a normal case with a back up battery on it. Its plugs in to the charging port. You charge the case. Once fully charged you put it on to your phone and you press the button once your battery is low. It then charges the phone from the stored current.
Theres many for iphones and blackberrys.
@op unfortunately there is none for any android device. The only type is like a micro usb adaptor you connect when you required. Theyre available on amazon for about 5 bucks. Just search for portable micro usb battery charger

I know what he's talking about, when it's from top to bottom, like the iPhone thats fine, but for it to work with the xperiaS it's going to have to connect from the side. It also has a USB port door, should this be removed each time? To have a USB connector on the side is going to make the whole thing very wide..
Yeah for that kind of case thing I agree its not practical. But even those portable chargers I spoke about. Theyre not that big they more practical but I dont **** charging my phone with anything but the original charger. Or any electronic for that matter

Before curiosity kills the cat, does anybody know if you can damage your phone by using a wireless charging mat, i.e. nokia dt-900, and the wall charger adapter at the same time? I want to see if it works, but then again, I really dont feel like dishing out another $600 for a new phone. Figure I would ask here first. The internet provided no such answers. Next stop will be Nokia CS.
I have a feeling it won't work. Itll only pull power from one source.

i tried it too. wanted to do shotgun charging. lol wireless charging is disabled while it is charging by the usb port.
but just for discussion purposes, i dont know enough about dry cell batteries to know if it would damage it or not. you would be doubling the voltage to it. (5V+5V=10V) i dont know if a power source put to a dry cell battery that is double of it intended purpose would damage it. i would think not. i think it woudl charge it to 10V, but in turn would damage the phone circuitry itself. Thats what my associates degree in electronics tells me. :good:
As far as having it plugged in and setting on mat, it won't charge, so does that mean it won't have any issues with getting overly hot or having problems with charger/phone recognizing mat but not able to engage?
I've been looking for a charger that attaches to the side dock on the Z2. I bought one on EBay very cheap but the charging from seems to connect then disconnect all the time. I guess that's what I get for buying a cheap unit. Is there a good one that will charge the Z2 properly? I'm sure the flap to the micro usb is going to come off sooner or later so I'd rather use the magnetic one.
I too am looking for this. What eBay one did you buy? Don't want to accidentally buy a cheap one..

I bought a dirt cheap one from ebay too, works fine although the magnets aren't very strong so the amount of time I spend fiddling to get it to latch on I may as well use a micro usb!

Best I've come across, a bit more expensive though.
It fits very snugly over the charging port, so if you use case this cable might not go well with it.

I've heard that, I got a free app called timely and it works great, with smart connect it automatically goes into silent + opens timely when I dock.
Word of warning with magnetic chargers, don't be stupid like me and turn the charger the other way around to see if it connects better, you will end up shorting something inside your phone and you will have to RMA your device

I have a magnetic charging cable and did this drunkly one night, woke up to find the phone turned off and SUPER HOT. Like almost burning point, freaking out I quickly removed the cable and tried turning it on but it wouldn't power up.
After 2 minutes of having a mild heart-attack I used my USB charging cable and connected it once it cooled down and within a minute it powered back up and started charging. After a few minutes of doing this I booted up the phone and the battery was on 1%
Won't be doing that again haha :silly:

upon close inspection, the charging pins on the magnetic charging port are different in size to prevent plugging it backwards.
for those of you who were able to plug it in backwards, is the magnetic charger a sony accessory? or aftermarket?
I bought the magnector x and holy moly does it charge fast...and the connection is solid and it snaps in place with ease...magnet very strong...only problem is it doesn't work with my roxfit gel shell case even though it has the cutout for the magnetic port...so either I stick with using my cheap Chinese made magnetic charger that doesn't always make a solid connection and charges rather slow but works with my case or buy the case-mate barely there case which is the only other case I can see that would work with the magnector x...

they may work with dash charge, but they aren't original, you can see it at the connector: https://gyazo.com/861bf8178186a4b49a7b937995537e18 real ones don't have this. not that it's a big deal though.

The car charger does get hot, indeed. But that's the whole idea of DASH charging -- keep the heat away from the phone battery where it can only slowly dissipate. The car charger is quite sturdy and made (almost) entirely fro metal, so it'll cool down quickly after charging.
I am not sure if it's an issue as I could not watch it too closely while driving but the DASH mode charging seems to have ended around 75% and afterwards it went on with normal mode. Not sure if that's how it is supposed to be as I've never watched my wall charger that closely.

Nice sounds good, I might get one in the future, but on the other hand I also have some referral points over at OnePlus.
They now redirect to another one that should suit better for the one plus 5. The linked one is only for one plus 3/3T. I think I will buy it later and test it.
I just like how I am able to top up my battery while navigating with GPS on. Tried or during a weekend getaway and worked nicely.
