So hi guys,
I have a Desire X which i unfortunately upgraded to Jelly Bean. Knowing HTCs bullshat update stuff, it seems unlikely that they will fix the sound issues. To me, the sound issue sounds like a fcked up EQ or something. Can we use the libs & files from 4.0.4 in JB to fix the issue?

As eager as u were for the update (including me), HTC had to hurry up releasing untested updates. Dont give up on a company so soon. This kind of stuff happens. A mid-range phone has a usable life of almost 2 years where it always gets major/minor updates. After that, the devs do the magic (The classic desire has 4.2.2 now and been living for 4+ years).
Trust me, people says Xperia and some samsung phones of equal price are better then what HTC offers, then do one thing,
1.Check the build quality
2. Check the design.
3. Check the interface quality
4. Check the price.
HTC ticks most of the marks always. Really try to use an Xperia or Touchwiz interface and ull be hating it very soon (I know i would).
Rest is your decision. You can root and try to come back to an ICS rom, it should be possible technically, but i dont know for certain until i try it myself.

I have always had HTC Devices, so i know my stuff pretty well. The point is, the Jelly Bean update upgraded the hboot, so that the older stuff won't work. I dunno if anyone has tried a ruu yet? It might work.

Why does htc have to limit their devices so much? The brand will die if this continues...
Look at samsung or sony you get full root no s-on or anything...

Not possible with this method.
But you can use a custom ICS ROM with some edit to the mount point in the updater-script.
Or restore an ICS nand backup

Look at Samsung's complicated system... There's this Odin thing, download mode, roms in tar files... HTC is simple. They unlock our bootloader, and they let us use fastboot(official android tinkering tool distributed by Google). Then look at GUIs. Touch wiz is horrible, ugly and unthemeable. Then look at sense.

Ahh... sorry... I miss the title of this thread...
No.. you can't use the RUU to go back to ICS but you need to make a Custom Stock ICS ROM with the new mount point for JB and also the ICS boot.img with it's modules.
I always keep changing ICS ROM and JB ROM on my One X which has a JB hboot.
Can You Make One?

No I will not as I don't really have time to provide support.
I gave all the tips so any Dev can make one or users can mod any available ICS ROMs to work on a JB hboot. It just need a change of mount point in the updater-script.

Yep... even your ROM should work. Just change the mount point in updater-script and use the recovery for JB by atis112.
And use ICS boot.img either stock, atis112 kernel or neXusPRIME kernel.
ICS mount point:
mmcblk0p25: 3bdffe00 00000200 "system"
mmcblk0p27: 0ffffe00 00000200 "cache"
mmcblk0p26: 4cfffe00 00000200 "userdata"
mmcblk0p28: 017ade00 00000200 "devlog"
JB mount point:

mmcblk0p26: 0f000000 00000200 "cache"

I have an LG Optimus M and it would be appreciated if someone could develop a ROM for it. You can find the LG Optimus community at androidforums .com/lg-optimus-m Thanks alot.
I recently purchased the Optimus M and am seconding this request for a ROM.
I would also like to see this happen. Thanks in advance!
Maybe you guys should setup a beer fund.
By the way, I'll have a look at it.
Edit:
And yes, I've taken this from a topic on Androidforums, but it is true. I don't have an Optimus M myself, so:
1) I need a dump of your system.img (replacement apks for people that deleted them by accident).
2) Boot.img (which includes the necessary files like the kernel).
3) Splash.img (to take a look or change metro splash screen.
4) recovery.img (to make a modified recovery).
Edit2:
And a phone to test it on. Beer fund anyone?
i have manage to get a bin not img file and all of the apks
ill send it through message

Thanks dude, that files are vital! I've already found a custom recovery, now I'll just have to optimize it for the Optimus M. The key-layout is different but that can easily be fixed by replacing default.prop (or build.prop, not completely sure. I can't check it now, I'm on another laptop now)
I'd really appreciate if people could help testing the recovery once it has been published. It won't brick your device.
I would be willing to test it, as long as nothing bad could happen.

There's a slight little chance it explodes like a nuke when it boots, but except for that little issue, it won't do any damage.
Hey, just thought I'd jump in. I'm pretty much new to smartphones. Since I found xda, I've managed to read enough to learn root explorer, root my Optimus M, delete the bloatware, change the boot, learn adwlauncher and download rom manager.
So how can I help make a custom ROM happen? I think I know enough to flash my own device, except for the recovery/backup stuff worries me.
*Also, my roommate deleted browser.apk on his optimus m (rooted obv), factory reset a few times and has the usual broke market/google problems. Any hope for his phone; he has phone insurance w/metro.
Thank you

Wait wait wait. BTW hi fellow dudes from androidfourms.
You said after the update. Is he working with the files from 2.2.1 and not 2.2?
We need a custom recovery, kernel and rom for 2.2!! Not the evil 2.2.1.
Plus the source for 2.2 for the Optimus M has been released and can be found here: www .lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource.jsp and choosing "Mobile Phones" from the dropdown menu and typing in LGMS690
If this guy needs the 2.2 files and not the 2.2.1 file they are obtainable.
I was gonna test this recovery but not if it's the 2.2.1 version.

I'm in contact with this guy. We're discussing the plans and who does what.
I'm in contact with this guy too as he is also an active member of the androidfourms sub-forum for the Optimus M and has since downgraded his phone back to 2.2 after he gave you the Boot.img, System.img & Recovery.img. Those ones were more than likely from 2.2.1 which running stock was unabled to even be rooted.
You say you want testing done but by your wording you seem to want to keep this all hush, hush. If that's the case no bother. If you want no extra help then so be it.
I will provide he proper files for 2.2 though.

I'm about to flash this thing to my phone even though we have no custom rom to use with it yet. Pray for a good outcome.
Description:

OP,
You might want to change your updater-script and re-up. This won't flash as is at all.
Never did understand posting a ROM before it's been tested and the device is out, but good job being the first one to do it, I guess!
I have the option to buy out the rest of my contract for $75 to get this phone. I've had the OG EVO since day one and still love it, but can get this one w/o having to pay any contract penalties. My biggest concern and hopefully you guys can help me with this is the unremovable battery. Is this going to be a problem? Does this Evo whip the arse of the OG Evo in terms of specs?
Thanks!

It's not a bad thing as long as you know the mount points. His updater-script has it as MTD partitions because dsixda's kitchen didn't have a mount point file for the Jewel. It's atleast not something that would brick a phone, just wouldn't flash.
EDIT: Hey Viper...did you see my tweet?
Good catch, don't know why I didn't think of that. I'll update it today. Does anyone mind sharing the system mount point? Obviously I don't know what it is yet....

ICS kernel from newest ICS en.EU leak. Remember, when you flash it, there's no way back to GB kernel.

Search button is so small.
Shouldn't the chinese leak boot.img be better as it will allow people to downgrade back to gb when the official ota comes out? I think the usb mass storage issue is kernel related but it seems a lot safer to use than the tmobile one.
A bit off topic, but my younger brother has info that a friend of his picked up a razr from Rogers and it came with ICS installed already. I'm treating it lightly as i've asked him to snap a few pics of the system info and the phone generally so hopefully he can get that soon. If it's true, we may as well wait it out as we could have CM9 support after the official ota is released shortly.

thanxxx alot in advance...
Before I answer any of your questions, I'll let you know that HTC pulled the JB update after it gave users some very horrible bugs. However, they may soon release a fixed JB update which should be available to you. In other words, you won't get the update right now. However you can prepare for it.
1) Firstly, if you do not have a nandroid backup, you're going to have to find someone with a nandroid backup for the same CID as you. You can find your CID by installing CID Getter from the Play Store. Then you need to find someone on here with the same CID as you.
2) At the time of writing this the only ROM working with JB Hboot is the SkyDragon ROM. Note that the ROM you speak of is not JB but ICS, so I don't see why you'd want to upgrade to JB only to reinstall the ROM again.
Hope I've helped
How do you know this.? WRG to the update been.pulled.

Ahh cheers @RossFixxed
@ORA 1 well there is no official statement from HTC about pulling the update, but people who should be receiving the update have reported that they are unable to update. Various people have also reported discussing with HTC support about the bugs and apparently they are aware. If you look on other threads in different sections on the forums there are people confirming that HTC have pulled the update.

Ok, yes my question was a bit screwball  i want to know how do you know that they were going to do an update. Because i have been onto them, and i think there is a better chance of seeing a pig fly.....Ok, i am being a bit sarcastic, but with no response from the manufacturer does give cause for concern.
IF HTC wants to keep their brand as one of the top brands of the world, they have to communicate much better.
All we want to hear is " We note your concerns about JB problems on the DX, we are attending to it, and as soon as we have developed a fix we will pass it on.
We do apologise for our error, please be patient......
So i am almost certain there will be (a) a fix update or (b) a new update which includes the fix.

Oh right, okay. I can't remember exactly where someone posted this (there are so many threads on the bugs in JB now ) but I 100% remember reading about somebody who contacted HTC and got a reply concerning fixes for the update. I'll try getting onto them too, the more people kick up a fuss, the more likely they'll fix it
However there are a lot of great devs who have the DX and it won't be too long before we get a fix either officially or unofficially

Sorry missed your post! If you have fastboot tools on your computer, open the folder containing fastboot and SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on an empty space in that window. Click on "Open command window here"
Next make sure your Desire X is on the stock ROM and rebooted into bootloader, and choose fastboot.
Now from that command window type in: fastboot oem lock
That should work

fastboot tool..?? do u mean to say toolkit.?? or jst cmd window.?? i didnt get u.. and my 2nd doubt is i am on custom rom, so if i wish to relock, then i should come back to stock rom isnt it.?? so hw to come back to stock rom..?? what are the steps to come back to stock rom ..?
sry i hv vey little knowledge abt it...thanx alot in advance:angel:
If you download any Boot.img installer from any ROM thread, they'll contain the fastboot program. So if you go to the thread here and go to the bottom of the first post and download the Boot.img Installer, you can extract that ZIP and there should be a folder containing fastboot, adb and other stuff. Now if you open the command window there (SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK) you can do the fastboot oem lock if your phone is in fastboot mode.
If you want to be upgrading to Jelly Bean then you need to go back to your stock ROM for your CID, if you have a nandroid backup you can flash that through your recovery. If you don't you'll have to ask someone politely for their nandroid backup if they have the same CID.
If you manage to restore the correct nandroid backup, make sure you flash the stock ICS boot.img and recovery.img before you lock the bootloader.

i dnt hv any backups...... my CID is HTC_038 , i hv searched forums bt did not find my CID , so should i request for my mentioned CID..??
one more foolish quest-- someone has posted files for mentioned CID for htc ONE x .. can i use that ..??
Using One X files won't work. I can't find any nandroids for your CID either, you're in the same position as I am. There is one user who has the same CID as you but is in the same position, their name is abhi0409, contact them and maybe you can work together to find a nandroid backup. Or you can just wait for Cyanogenmod 10.1 to be released or wait for a custom ROM for JB which ICS users can flash.
EDIT: another guy called hell_lock on this thread has the same CID as you and has a nandroid backup, but is reluctant to post it because it contains private data
Ok, yesterday i received a call from someone at HTC or one of their agents and asked me was my problem about the update sorted.
I said i didnt want to load the 4.1.3 update but wanted to wait for the 4.1.5 which has the sound bugs fixed.
She said yes, they were aware of the problem, but the new update to my country will be available in a few days.
Now a question to the developers, why cant we just upload these updates from the play store, or HTC itself.
Maybe things arent as simple as that.
We can. HTC can put the ruus on web where all can access them. But they don't, and It's a mystery.
They should really start being more generous otherwise there fan base will decrease drastically.

Htc generally ignore their customer base in these matters.
It's why many of us won't go back to them again.
I contacted them twice recently, no answer at all. No wonder the other manufacturers are doing much better. Awful pity.

I restored this rom on my X + international one, everything worked OK, except the baseband. I found it very fast, I'll be waiting for some dev release a compatible kernel, and a WWE rom.

In fact, there appears some information about the baseband, because the kernel is not compatible with my device. My machine is European, as the kernel is Asian does not recognize my baseband, only Bluettoth worked, wifi, not 3G phone and network. Another interesting fact is that the partitioning changed my data from 4.1.1 are not accessible when I change the kernel now be accessible again.

that's data/media/0
all your stuff will be on /0 if HTC set it up correctly, otherwise you may need to move it manually to data/media/0

Correct, I just checked and the data I used in 4.2.2 were all there. Because HTC has changed the location of the files?

HTC hasn't changed anything. That is how 4.2.2 has always been, regardless of the device.

Got it, thanks for the explanation, but the cyanogem, use another partitioning scheme correct? I will look for a kernel compatible to upgrade.
CM ROMs use the same as it's android thing , check the cm/asop ROMs in the dev section. Kernel wise as there is no source released you may have issues finding one
