TWRP not working - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I was able to root with the new jailbreak method once I installed samsung drivers and used a different cable.
So I've been working up the courage to install beans 12...
I downloaded Titanium Backup and did a backup.
Thought I did a backup in TWRP to the external sd.
Did the system restore and clear cashes delvik stuff.
But...
When I hit install or backup, TWRP just goes directly to restart.
When I did the "install" it went directly to startup and froze. Never seen any c prompt screen with details.
Thank god TB worked.
Now what?
Is it hard to reinstall TWRP? Or other ideas?

Is there any conflicts using ROM Toolkit & TWRP?
Thanks.

Okay, what will that do?
OMG! That worked like the videos did!
Thank you so much. I'm terribly gunshy after the fail yesterday.
I think I had the wrong version of twrp or something.
Now I'll cross my fingers and try loading a rom....
Update....
Got beans 12 up and running. Phew what a relief.
GooManager is definitely the easy way to do it to any of you other newbies out there.
Thanks for the help!

twrp v2.3.1.0 problems

I updated to TWRP v2.3.1.0 via goo manager and the install seemed to work but now I cant flash any zips and it wont run a new backup.
No matter what I try to have it do it goes:
Finished running boot script
Simulating actions..
Updating partition details..
Simulating actions..
Simulating actions..
and then it says it was successful. But the backup only runs for 5 seconds before saying successful and the zips I flash dont work. Any ideas? I reinstalled via goo manager and got the same result.

You can install it from goo manager it's in the market, open goomanager press menu choose install openrecoveryscript it will do everything for you
someone on the team win website figured it out. you have to go into the twrp settings and uncheck the box for simulating. worked perfectly after that. sheesh, that only took two weeks.
Is there anything negative about updating your TWRP version? I'm on v2.2.2.0 Is there a possibility the update will mess with flashing ROMs?

[Q] New to rooting i717

I have an AT&T i717 running ics stock rom. I installed cwm 5.0. something and was intending on installing the CM10 JellyBean rom from paranoid. It would not install from sd card. tried another rom from diff developer, same thing. I read that I needed an updated cwm so I tried to flash another, wouldnt work with the version of ODIN i had so i upgraded to v3.07, was able to flash another and then when I went to recovery it stayed in a black screen, reflashed the older version of cwm and now when I go to recovery it will show the main screen, but if I try to install or even reboot it takes the menu away and shows the symbol in the center. Am I just completely stupid? Have I missed something?

Figured it out. Cleared both cache and delvik Cache and did a factory reset. worked like a charm. thanks for the help and I hope this helps others as well.
Just for future reference, also wiping system along with wiping cache/dalvik and factory reset is good practice. Sometimes not wiping system can cause some issues.

TWRP 2.4 is out

Hello fellow Touchpad enthusiasts,
I happened to see TWRP has a version 2.4 available to us - http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/tenderloin
I saw it posted in other device forums, but not ours so thought I'd share the news.
About all I can tell you is it installed without any major problems. Nothing else tested other than boot into it and reboot to CM 10. I just moved ver 2.3 and copy/renamed 2.4 into same directory. Only problem encountered was old ver permissions were messed up so had to mess around before I was able to move the old ver. That and I reset permission on new ver to match - forget what I modeled it after - the other recovery uImage since I have them both installed.
As always ymmv.
Neil

I read about incompatibility problems between TWRP 2.4.3.0 and TouchPad.
But does anybody know what about the new twrp-2.4.4.0-tenderloin?
Please fulfill:
TWRP v.________ and ROM ToolBox
CWM v._________ and GooManager
Edit:
Above is false. You should use ...
... TWRP with GooManager and ...
... CWM with ROM ToolBox!
I will stick with CWM. Seems stable enough, it works as it should, and I don't mind to scroll through using my volume rocker.

I updated to 2.4.4 but haven't tested yet, but lots of people were having issues on the Nexus 4 on 2.4.3.0 and after the update nobody has any problems. I know the touchpad is a different animal but i bet it works now. No way I'm ever going back to cwm. Twrp has the best setup & all the right features.
Everytime I tried to flash a zip for a bug fix (headphone detection glitch, etc) it would fail in TWRP. Every time. So I went back to CWM. Goomanager is completely unreliable in regards to finding rom updates, etc.

Are you using the latest version? Twrp is working perfectly for me.
Update:
I take my message back. I backed up, did a factory reset, restored my backup, & everything is there except it twrp didn't restore my app data nor my system settings data.
Update:
I just flashed shumash's new build with success. So flashing in twrp is now working fine for me. Going to have to investigate why my restore didn't fully work on my previous post.
Is anybody else using the latest Twrp?

[Q] Galaxy tab 10.1 complete restore after custom roms

Hi
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 GT-P7500. I have been messing around a lot with custom ROMs. Now I want to do a proper restore to official ICS. I have the Odin flashable package. When I restore it just using this, my tablet does not want to root again on this stock firmware. I looses root as soon as I flash the root package.
What I want to do is do a complete restore of the tablet. I don't really know much about the bootloaders and so on.
Should I get a PIT file and tick re-partition as well as update phone bootloader?
I have restored an old Nandroid backup and did a factory restore on the tablet but there is something wrong with it. Every now and then the tablet just do a random reboot, but not a complete reboot. The screen goes blank and then back on again. Signal gets lost and everything that I was busy with are gone. I use the Wi-Fi hotspot all the time and every time that this happens I have to turn it back on again.
Anyone who can tell me how to do a proper restore of everything on the tablet?
Boot into cwm or twrp recovery, do a full wipe, not including internal storage, then flash stock ICS again.

after the Odin to stock and flashing the root zip... did you try to update the binaries for the super user app you're using...?

Because your important files are there. Unless you don't care about those files or you've backed up in your computer, then you can wipe it. I've seen people wiping their internal memory blindly and then posting "Help, my photos/videos are gone!! Is there any way to recover it???" Which is why I said not to wipe your internal memory.
Regarding the superuser, what error did it give out?

I can't remeber the error that superuser give out.
I have flashed stock ICS now, but when I try to load the update file which I always used to root it, the stock recovery give an error saying unknown path for sdcard(photo included).
I have formatted all the partitions using CWM before reflashing.
This also happened before I started using my old backup again. Do you know why this will happen? Should I try to repartition the device or something?

Yes, it booted and I logged into gmail and everything. I have loaded cwm and flashed the zip file. Then get the error "root possibly lost. Fix?" Does not matter if I choose yes or no. I don't have root access. Superuser say I must update binary and then when it try to get root access fails.

First, check to see if the su binary is in /system/xbin or not. Download terminal emulator, then type su and see if it works. If it says su not found, it means the su binary is not installed. If so, try flashing the SuperSU zip (https://db.tt/18JKy062) and see if it works.
Edit: OK never mind, I see you solved it.

Flashyify to install recovery on lg g3

Hey whats up the easiest way to install this is an app called Flashyify in play store works great im unlocked without using adb. Let the roms begin. Thanks for the hard work that everyone put in. Just put twrp image on phone before you open flashyify and open and install and recovery will be installed
flashify rocks
This took less than 5 minutes to do using Flashify.
Thanks for the heads up.
Works wonder. Thanks for reminding me about this. I got use to not flashing anything for a while lol...
confirmed. flashed with flashify first try. nothing fishy. GOOD FIND! :good:
worked :good

Just so I'm clear. You downloaded the file (Verizon variant) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...mp-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614, copied it to the internal storage and then used Flashify to flash it as a Recovery File? I just want to make sure so I don't accidentally delete my data when I get to the "Factory Reset" screen. Thanks very much for the info.

yes that's correct
I installed recovery, on my phone last night, using adb. I just installed it, on my wife's phone, using Flashify. Flashify is, hands down, the easiest way to do it. Not that adb is hard, is just that Flashify is stupid simple.
Worked perfectly for me.
*If I have helped you please hit the thanks ?*

Remember guys the first set of commands is only to backup stock recovery so they don't have to be done, kinda up to you..Basically Flashify knows which file IMG,zip, and will apply for you super easy guys..
I used flashify. Before installing new twrp recovery I backed up stock recovery. Md5 of new file is 906b26d6968765783ab6006e9b96a698
And md5 of stock recovery was 32789a9ca54ef2ede59c523959213d03
I did a nandroid backup in twrp with compression. Completed fine. I also backed up boot with flashify. Md5 for that was 258c075d31749a7e2e837ef0009598b3
