there's an annoying problem i began to experience regarding facebook app
and its when i go to any group or page like for example : "troll football"
it starts to talk like: "troll football cover photo...info...etc" and when i point to comments it says :" comments... 1.6 k likes" and "clicked" when i press anything in the page
although Driving mode is "off" ..and talkback is also "off"
so any solution for that ??!

[Q] Disappearing contact

Not the end of the world, but I have a contact that keeps disappearing from my favourites on people tab.
It only disappears when ever Active Sync is syncing, though the contact is still listed, just disappears from the tab.
This has now happened on the last 2 or 3 ROMs I've used so that rules out a ROM issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA
I have used search and can't find anyone else with the same issue
Not being funny, but as a senior member I'm sure you know how to start your own thread, so why hijack mine.
the info that tells sense it is a favorite (and Facebook links) is held in the notes field, so you could try setting it as fav, then edit the contact, scroll down to more (brings up the winmo contact screen) and copy out all the code,
example
<HTCData><!-- Please do not modify -->
<Favorite>actionid:CallMobile</Favorite>
<Facebook>id:51xxxx112/friendof:xxxx91731</Facebook>
</HTCData>
and manually put it in the notes field of your contact on the pc.if it solves it, it could be that your sync settings have been altered to update only from pc to phone, not both directions.
None of my contacts have anything like that.
Today they've all behaved themselves and not run off, will keep an eye on it
Normally your contact will have a Note information, like samsamuel mentioned before.
I know if I delete this info on one of my contact's, it will disappearing from my favourites on the people tab.
This info is needed.

[Q] Location in Google Calendar App

hi
SO I have this SGSII now and using Lightning ROM on it, which has apparently the stock Calendar App. I can sync my google calendar etc and it works but there is the following nagging small issue.
If I create an event in google calendar and put a valid "google locatable address" in the "location bar" then it does show up in the event details. If I have phone number in the description it also shows up in the event details (in the sammy)
there is a hyperlink for the phone to dial the number also which is great.... HOWEVER, even if the location does show up there is no hyperlink on it, to directly locate the address in the stock "google maps" app!!!
I have to go to "edit event" and then scroll down, to the location box, and then there is the "map button" next to it which if clicked takes me to map... thats rather pain in the A**... Is there a issue-tracker for this app, where I can file an enhancement request ??
Ghat
I expect you'd report it here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list.
Looking a bit further, seems to be this? http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=17984

[GUIDE] To make push notifications work in facebook app

On reading this some may think it sounds stupid(as the original post says ) but believe me, this thing worked for me.
First up, you’ll have to head to the Blackberry developers’site. You’ll need to download two packages:
- Blackberry Device Simulator 7.0 (177MB)
- Blackberry Email and MDS Services Simulator Package (44.2MB)
The former contains the device emulator which includes the Facebook app, and the latter allows said emulator to connect to the internets. As a testament to how archaic parts of Research In Motion's site are, you’ll have to download an ‘Akamai NetSession Inferface Console’ plugin to get hold of the Email and MDS package, but that can be readily uninstalled when you’re done with it.
After you’ve installed the two packages, launch the emulator. It’ll be under Start/All Programs/Research In Motion/Blackberry Simulators 7.0.0/7.0.0.362 (9350)/9350. Launching this brings up a seemingly-useless blank command prompt window, followed by the emulator itself, which may need scaling depending on your PC’s screen size. It’ll take a wee while to load up, then boot you into the standard non-touchscreen Blackberry interface. Now you’re in business.
- 1. Firstly, grab your Android phone. Make sure you have the latest version of Facebook installed from the market.
- 2. Head to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications. Tap on Facebook, then clear cache and data. Set your Android phone aside.
- 3. Now jump back on the PC and get into the Blackberry emulator as outlined above. Use your mouse to click on the little Blackberry flag button twice, which will bring up the ‘app drawer’. Use the mouse to move the square D-pad to the Facebook icon, and click the D-pad to launch.
- 4. Sign in to Facebook on the Blackberry emulator with your regular details. Thankfully, the PC keyboard works, you don’t have to painstakingly click each key on the on-screen Blackberry keyboard!
- 5. Wait for your feed to load in the Blackberry Facebook app. Once it’s updated with your information, simply log out again.
- 6. Head to desktop Facebook on your PC. Make sure you’re logged in, then hit the little drop-arrow next to the Home button, and click on Account Settings. While you’re here, take note of the icon next to Notifications down the left-hand side – you’ll be seeing a lot more of this icon very soon.
- 7. Click on ‘Apps’ down the left-hand side, and make sure ‘Facebook for Blackberry Smartphones’ is authorised. If it’s not, try logging back in on the Blackberry emulator again.
[P.S :: The 'Facebook for Blackberry Smartphones' didn't appear in my list so if the same happens to you don't panic, just got to the notifcations tabs on the left hand side and look for 'All notifications' and click on other applications and authorise the 'Blackberry Smartphones app', it worked for me.]
- 8. Pick your Android phone up once more, and launch the Facebook app. Sign in (Since you cleared data & cache earlier). Once you see your news feed, hit the News Feed logo up top to take you to the app’s main menu. Then press the Menu button, go to Settings, and make sure there is a tick next to Notifications, and the Messages/Friend Requests/Event Invites/Vibrate/LED/Notification Ringtone options are enabled or disabled to your tastes. Personally, I like to put that Facebook Pop notification sound to good use – note that it’s set to silent by default.
- 9. You can also set the refresh interval to Never, since these are push notifications, and your feed doesn’t have to auto-refresh.
- 10. Bang, you’re done. Get used to seeing that new notification icon, because wall posts, comments, and replies are going to be pushed your way within a few minutes of being added.

i already have blackberry with me so not a problem but will try this also as i love to try new things.
update : its working awesome thankx buddy. thanked u also.
Confirmed. It works
But I was like waiting for the BB Emulator to show the notifications and it didn't show up. Seems like there was a problem for FB to push notification to BB emulator.
So I continued logging in the FB Android app and it started showing the notification in less than 2 seconds with Edge Data.
This is great.
Now if push notification can work for liking and tagging, it would be great !
This appears to have worked for me. It should be noted that neither Facebook for Android or Facebook for Blackberry show up on my apps list. I assume this is a change Facebook made to not show the native apps.
I have frozen Friendcaster with Titanium backup so I'll be interested to see if the notifications will continue correctly when I defrost Friendster. I'm not sure if Friendcaster will attempt to compete for notifications or not.
I did not delete Friendster from the list off apps with permissions, so I'm hopeful that it won't interfere.
No Blackberry app appeared under "apps" on Facebook after logging in on the Blackberry Simulator.
What am I doing wrong?
Nothing, these instructions are probably slightly outdated. For me, neither Facebook for Android or Facebook for Blackberry shows up. I distinctly remember Facebook for Android showing up in the past, so this must be a recent change.
If you've logged in with the BB emulator and gone through the various menus and turned on anything about notifications it should work (did for me at least)
Unfortunately, don't expect to get "like" or event notifications. Those apparently aren't included in the push system yet. I still have email notifications as well as fRiendcaster for that reason.

I don't get the facebook app on the blackberry simulator. How do you get that app on there?
Download links broken.
Really don't want to install an app just to download something else!

[APP] Help is required with Facebook (and Whatsapp) apps

Hi everyone,
I made a simple search yet I'm not sure I know how to really pronounce my problem for a good search result
For over 2 months now I've been having issues with Facebook app. I'd like to describe my symptoms and things I've been checking out and I'd be more than happy if you pro's could share your 2 cents.
1) Facebook crashes spontaneously .. and I don't mean FC. It simply "vanishes". The app disappears from main view (I have no ghost of it under "Running Apps"). I have to open it again. When I do, my feed is rearranged as if its the first time I launch facebook after boot. No specific thing I do that does is. I can browse, I can type a comment, I can press a like. I can simply live the screen on (keep awake with power).
2) Faceboot app constantly "disconnects" and denies updating its data. For instance, I may finger-browse my feed and suddenly I get to the bottom of the feed with "Can't Connect" and a sad cloud icon. Same happens if I try to "refresh" the page, search for a user or go into a group - "Can't Connect". I have to manually close facebook (apps-screen and swipe away) for it to get fixed..
Things I've noticed:
1) I'm using 1plus2 oxygen latest (2.2.2?). I've changed app permission to block access to "calendar", "contacts", "camera", "audio", "clipboard", "location"
2) I noticed that when I recoked app permission "Keep Awake" - vids didn't start properly. Some of them crashed my app like in (1) above. I restored "Keep awake" and "Audio" and vids play fine. I restored the rest of the permissions and I still get the "cant connect" issue.
3) I've constantly limited facebook permissions even on my old Nexus 5 phone (using cyanogen privacy default deny any permissions unless specified by me)
READ FURTHER FOR EXTRA ISSUES IF POSSIBLE
1) Whatsapp. My current whatsapp is constantly backed up and the .db file moves between phones I change (for over 3 years now).
2) my db file is ~1GB. I sometimes also copy media/photos and media/videos too .. so I'll always have access to my historic images and videos shared by contacts.
3) Whatsapp, every 2-3 weeks, behave erratically. I may open a message notification from the drawer and whatsapp takes 15-20 seconds to open that chat! I may open a picture in a group (MAINLY in groups) and it would take 15-20 seconds to open. It opens half way, device is "laggy", and after 15-20 image is fully viewable.
Same laggy activity (for both facebook and whatsapp) happened over at my old nexus 5 making me believe I actually had faulty hardware. Now its 1plus2.
Not a lot of rooted apps, other than the obvious (Titanium, SuperSU, Call Recorder - which is currently disabled).
Sorry for the long post, I lack a potato for you. Will be glad for any thoughts.
