Update aftermath problems - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since the last update for the s2 last week iv been having problem, so im wondering if anyone can shed some light please.
The first thing I noticed was my emails wont sync, iv tried on a number of occasion to get them to auto refresh changeing the times for on peak and off peak, but nothing seems to work. Theyl only refresh if I do it manually and then it loads up week and week old emails iv deleted.
The second thing is some of my apps, mainly tapatalk, first when im in a post and press the back button it skips back two stages very annoying, so I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it wont let me log in to any of my forums, even more annoying.
The only way I can get on my forums is useing the web pages very painful now im used to tapatalk. So help please

Have u updated from ICS to JB? If so, have u done a factory reset?
A factory reset (data wipe) is recommended to ensure smooth functioning of the new firmware.

Sorry not to sure what that means it says iv got android version 4.2.1? If I do a base reset will I lose all my apps pics videos ect?

Are you sure it's 4.2.1? And not 4.1.2?
How did u update? OTA or Kies?

To get the older version (probably Ice Cream Sandwich), u need to download the appropriate firmware and flash it using Odin (a program similar to Kies).
Sorry to say this, but you need to do a little bit of reading if you're planning to downgrade ur phone or flash via Odin. If ur interested, I can point u in the right direction.
Or u can try to backup as many stuff as you can (using apps from the Playstore) and then do a factory reset.

Imei number is NULL/NULL and no sim detection

I have the stock leaked jelly bean, Wanted to try a new mod of neatrom so I downloaded a recover mod from the website rootgalaxy s2 or so. Anyway, I am not under warranty, And my phone now doesn't detect SIM. I'm a total newbie and I don't even have an EFS back up. Is there any chance of getting back the calling or sim detection? It tells me Baseband undetected.

Wifi and Bluetooth working, Mobile data needs a sim card which is not detectable.
The chances of you recovering it without a backup are close to zero (But not exactly zero). You'll be paying to have it fixed if you can't manage to fix it, but the worst that can happen if you try a bunch of things from here & they don't work is you'll still end up paying to have it fixed, so you might as well try them.

Can I go to a normal local technical service or I have to end up going to Samsung, will they fix this particular issue? Or they'll just ask for fees for a new motherboard.

True..
I had this issue the first time I updated to ICS via Kies. Didn't have an efs backup too!!
A trip to the service centre said my motherboard needed to be changed!
But I got back my IMEI when I reflashed the same firmware via Odin! Guess I was just lucky and that my efs folder was still intact...
Never trusted Kies ever since!

Problem was modding with another version of modems so it crashed.
What made me think it's not the efs was that the phone app crashes along with call setting and viber uses the music/sound speaker instead of the phone speakers, So I thought that it's a defect in the ROM.
Now, I can't find the stock toggle bar of jelly bean mods for me...
And I can't add a solved bracket, I will try again.

[Q] how to get warranty back!

So i rooted my GS2 I9100 phone , i want to make sure how i can get my warranty back and what procedure i would like to follow..I am new into this so pls give me full step by step explanation for this..thank you...

Re: [Q]
If u get a yellow triangle (on booting) after rooting, and/or ur binary count has increased (in Download mode), then ur warranty has been void.
To get ur warranty back:
1. Flash a stock firmware (or a stock kernel if u already have a stock firmware) to get rid of the yellow triangle.
2. Use a USB Jig or TriangleAway app to reset ur binary counter.
Note: TriangleAway app can also remove the yellow triangle.

Ok then NOOBs . There has been foul language, blatant use of the "N" word (noob, not the other) and now discussion on genitalia size.
This thread is cleaned and I can't understand why it has de-evolved into such a fracas so quickly. Help out if you want or not. If you don't then move on.
Also OP, Rooting your phone has nothing to do with instability. It is what you have done since rooting it that has caused these problems. Either installing something or deleting something is the reason. Root in itself, did not.
Thread Cleaned, so let's start over.
btw Triangle Away app can be found here.

Before you even consider rooting, as you're running 4.0.4, do a FORUM SEARCH for eMMc brickbug.....it'll let you know whether you are going to turn your SII into a paperweight or not......
And when you've done that, head on over to the "general" I9100 section and look at the "sticky" threads.....you'll find all the info about rooting you could ever need.....

Search for CF-Root kernels or custom rooted kernels (like Siyah/Dori)..
There is also a "Universal Rooting method" too. You can also find a method to 'Root stock ICS without flashing insecure kernel'..

Nah, let em learn the hard way. Much more fun to watch. I can count the number of people I've seen on here over the past 18 mths break their phones through bad luck on one hand. It's invariably their own fault. And it makes no difference how much you warn most of them. You can spot the ones who are going to bork it a mile away most of the time.

Hi..sorry ...new to samsung flashing..I have installed drivers but still in Odin, ID:COM doesnt turn yellow color in download mode...it is always blue...any idea how to resolve this? and other guide said it should be blue only..well it is blue but flashing is aborted!
It shows that u haven't searched this forum, or u don't know how to.
Odin has two versions, with two different colors to show that ur device has been detected:
v1 = YELLOW
v3 = BLUE

There are many reasons why a flash could be aborted:
- Kies still running
- Wrong firmware
- Interference by anti virus
- Buggy cable
Please post the log generated by Odin.

[Q] My phone froze while performing an official upgrade

Hi,
I have a Galaxy SII I9100G. Last night I tried to update my firmware (OTA) from ICS to JellyBean.
As soon as the update started, my phone froze (Its like me entire screen is filled with tiny green, red, blue, grey bugs) and nothing is working since then. I cant see anything on my device after i try to restart my phone.
I tried using the Vol Up+Home+Power button. But its still the same
I know that my display is working because the welcome screen on my phone appears without any problem. But after that I start seeing those bug like spots on my display.
Could someone please help me on this

When ur phone doesn't turn on at all, its called a 'brick'. When it turns on, but doesn't start up, its called a 'bootloop'.
In ur case, its better to flash the upgrade manually, then do a factory reset.
Can u get into recovery or download modes?
