Any one know why the Jelly Bean OTA thread was closed?
Is it because
A. There will be no Jelly Bean OTA update for the SGH-I717.
B. People were going way off topic and OP was tired of it.
C. Jelly Bean OTA will be released in a few days for the SGH-I717 so it was closed and Key Lime Pie OTA will open upon release.
D. All of the above
E. None of the above
Would really like to know no kidding. Also any news, or updates, or rumors even, of when or if SGH-I717 will get stock JB TW update.
N7000 got it, some S2s got it, will SGH-I717? Are the Canadians our only hope? or is there another (N7005)?
Korean Og note got it last month also..we even have a new firmware available and promised to also be updated up tp 4.2.2 according to samsung korea

I think it was B.
The OP probably doesn't have any inside information for A or C.
The Key Lime Pie part of C did make me laugh though. I wouldn't expect it on the i717 in anything but ROMs.
B. It kept turning into a debate thread and/or off topic from the op's intent.

That's exactly what I was wondering. Not only that. Several people thanked the post that closed the thread. Were they forced to read the thread? I don't see the logic. I guess JB is a dead issue for our Note. Bummer.

Not our Note version and only in Germany, so far. But this means it will be rolling, and spilling, to everyone. It is good news; at least until there is some announcement about Jelly Bean and then we can all do this dance over again.
It sux that we wait 6-8 months for the newest OS then only get to enjoy it for a couple months before the best one rolls in.

God only knows how long it'll be before we see it on this side of the Pond. Will this at least speed up the devs getting the source files they need to make custom kernels? The various "leaks" (aka free beta testing for Samsung) have been great- each better than the last, but I believe what they are REALLY waiting on is the source so they can really tweak the kernel.
Before anyone starts flaming on me, I am NOT asking for an ETA of anything.. just wondering out loud if the source files are typically released in short order and if the release for the Int'l Note will be sufficient for us here.
I dont believe a kernel source for the int note will help us since it is different software

Yes we have basically the same physical phone and the idea is the same but the internals are completely different, even if source comes out when I post this message it will have absolutely no benefit to us for kernel help. Apks maybe but beneficial software is a negative.

Most likely if you want to get the ota update or how ever ics comes to us you have to be out of the box stock which is achievable with the stock odin file. When the update comes out you can bet there will be a cwm or odin file on here to get it on your phone the same day so its up to you.

With Jelly Bean and all of its great features which makes it pretty much the fastest Android platform ever, owners of recent hardware are wondering just*when will the latest Google platform be released for their phones. In case of the*Samsung*Galaxy*S III, rumor has it that Samsung is already allegedly finished the refresh and should be pushing it out in August or September. The*Samsung*Galaxy*S*II, while not a fresh hardware, is still a very popular Android phone (and one of the two most popular Samsung phones). Same report claims that Samsung has started testing the Android 4.1 update on the Samsung Galaxy S II. While there is no further information out there (nor official) we’re left wondering; there SGSIII update is certain (the only question is when) while the SGSII refresh will definitely be a nice touch for the millions of owners out there.

Since its safe to assume verizon will be running over this update again and again with its monster truck of doom and then leaving it to die in the mud long before even thinking about passing the carcass of whats left to its customers, our awesome dev's will be needing an international base, I'm sure, as soon as it is available in order to pass the greatness on to their VZ followers(ok me ) through their awesome ROMs that they work so hard on.
Soooo I was thinking; in order to hopefully cut the first step out (getting a hold of the update file itself) maybe the right combination of peeps(someone who is or knows someone that is on the international base) could read this thread and kindly have the update file extracted and ready to share to the devs as soon as its available...
If this is a waste of thread then I apologize. I'm just trying to help any way I can...
I flash ALOT ...and also yes.
I'm thinking we'll have the international base out by middle of next week. Hopefully we'll get some of the new features that's on the GS4 like the new photo stuff.

Id say it depends on what rom youre talking about. Ones built off the VZW base wont be updated until we get an OTA more than likely. Roms based on the International firmware will be updated straight away.
The article the OP linked only applies to the International variant, therefore its only moderately exciting.
I don't see the goods of the 4.2.2 and I prefer 4.1.2 lock screen.

Im right there with ya! The international roms almost always have more features, seeing as how Verizon hasnt managed to get their grubby hands on it, and run a bit smoother than the VZW roms that have been modded to add the features back.

It is indeed real. I just wonder when we will start seeing it and it's new features on our phones. It's nice that it will bring some continuity to the phones, as it can run on both low and high end devices. Perhaps eventually the OS fragmentation will be a problem of the past for Android.
