i have a tmobile pocket pc phone edition
and i have a motorola phone
but just 1 sim card. i can get another sim card for free (friend of mine works for tmobile). im wondering if there is a way to copy my sim card in my pocket pc and write it to a new card
my goal is, if i go out to dinner, to a club / bar, etc... i dont wanna carry the pda with me. yes i can just swap the card, but id rather each phone have thier own
is there a program for the pocket pc phone to copy the sim card and write a new one or some kind of device to do this ?
i know direct tv uses a smart card, which technically is what the sim card is. i was thinking maybe i can use a card programmer for direct tv, copy my good sim card and write it back to the new one.
any ideas ?

I understand it is possible to do this, however I bought the hardware and software to do so and have destroyed 2 sim cards so far and failed to copy any sim from UK service providers. This includes Orange, T- Mobile, Virgin, Vodafone and O2. I got in touch with the makers and they tell me that all these providers use V2 type cards therefore wont copy. I cannot vouch for other parts of the world. If anybody in UK has succesfully cloned a sim other than from an old Orange sim (3 years old at least) then I would be happy to hear from them. The hardware I bought allows 16 sims on one supersim, including phone book, sms etc. The sims can be switched on via a menu on the phone without switching off or resetting the phone, it will be great when the software finally gets to the stage where it works on UK sims.
Clone sim card
Mr. cruisin-thru , can u tell us where did u but the clonned Equipment and how much it cost u. and if there different types which one u advice us to buy.
Hi Guys!
I bought an HTC HD Mini for a couple months ago, the first 2 weeks it worked great and when i one day made a system restore i couldnt use my swedish sim card called Comviq anymore, i couldn't either use another card to call or message people. But I once could send a message with a 3 sim card. I dont know if the police or something has blocked the IMEI or something like that. I bought the phone from a guy with cardboard and everything that comes with the phone. I dont know if he have steal it????
I thought maybe its my fault for making a system restore? When i put a 3 sim card i get a connection with the net but i cannot call, but with the comviq (my swedish sim card) i dont even get a connection to the net? It says no net available, but for the 3 card its one available but i still cant call? Is it locked to the operator 3? Have the police blocked it?
Thanks in advance!
Hi there, I have purchased my tab last friday, played around with it during the weekend (root, overclock, etc.) Everything was fine - internet connection via 3G and WiFi, battery life and so on. However after I swithed off my tab on sunday evening and left it on charger, monday morning I realised that galaxy tab 10.1 does not recognise any SIM cards. The device itself is unlocked here, in Lithuania.
Any ideas what might have caused this strange behaviour? Everything else is working fine.
Hi!
I have the same problem, started about a week ago. SIM-card just looses connection at random times. Mostly when i've just left it in the charger for an hour or two.
A reboot is needed then it's working as normal.
What do you think? Should i return it?
Did you try and setup the APN manually?

Obviously...
The thing is that device itself does not recognise SIM card. Once You try to configure APN manually, it sais "please insert SIM card" :-(
and reboot doesnot help...
I have this issue too! I thought i was the only one experiencing this.
I have this problem 1 time, but i tried to switch sim with the one in my phone and it worked. Afther i switched back again and still working.
I got the problem afther my tab have been switch off for 5 days.

Well, after I left device in one of authorised dealers, they acknowledged the problem and offered to replace this Tab. So it turns out, one can only hope, that it does not happen to him...
Hi guys
Turns out all my problems were caused by overclock kernel. Today my tab was replaced so first thing I did was root it again and make a back up. Then I installed OC zip file from SD card via CWM recovery. Guess what? Device did not recognise SIM card again... luckily I had a back up ROM. After I went back to the original ROM everything was OK.
So be careful before over locking your tabs.

same problem just happened to me.
is there any solution found?
sim is ok on my htc desire but tab 10.1 cant detect it.
it has stop suddenly while browsing some news sites.
reboot does not help
i tried with another SIM also, same problem - cant detect SIM card at all,
when trying to open Mobile Network it says - Please insert SIM Card or something simllar.
Also i found that in About Phone - Status, IMEI and IMEI SV are Unknown, Serial is OK, is this normal?
Look I know this is a dumb question, but have you rebooting the tab after inserting the Sim? A client of mine had the same issue and we struggled for days until we realized we hasn't tried that. Sure enough that was the issue.
I think the tab only tries to access the Sim card on bootup.
Sorry if you have already tried this.

sin not recognized on galaxy tab 10.1
I have the same problem. Tab says "plz insert sim card. I have already inserted sim card
Same issue here .. I picked up the tab on a business trip in India and it worked fine while I was in India . I came back to UK and tried a UK SIM and it does not recognize a Vodafone Sim , Giff Gaff but recognizes 3 . Even though it recognizes 3 it does not let it register on network.
Not really sure what the issue is .. Is it restricted in some way .. ?
I used my tablet (Galaxy tab 10.1 P7500) with wifi only for almost 1 year. Recently I bought a SIM card (regular, not mini SIM) for using 3G with my tablet. It worked for about 10 days and then stopped working. Surprisingly, when I took the SIM out and tried to use with a phone, the SIM failed to register with the network! My operator told me that the SIM has been probably damaged and replaced it with another. In another 10 days I am facing the same problem again!
I wish to make these clear:
- I inserted the SIM properly into the tablet as per the instructions. I had not removed it thereafter. So, there is no probability of damage.
- In both the instances, the SIM looked perfectly all right. Not even a scratch!
- My operator swears that the problem is with the tablet and it does something to the SIM and makes it non-functional.
My questions:
1) What is the possible reason behind this?
2) Can the tablet work with a regular SIM?
3) Can the tablet damage a regular SIM with 10 days of use?
4) Should I use a micro SIM?
5) Will the problem recur with a micro SIM?
Any help will be highly appreciated! Thanks!
what I did when got the same problem

1)dust or movement of the card
You can use only the same size of sim as you had, the size doesn't matter, it just need to "seat" right
Try: buy a fresh new eraser for the old school pencils and gently clean the SIM card - only a new eraser so you won't damage it, don't push too hard, this way you remove any small parts on it that could block it.
Eject your SIM card only when the system is shut down. and restore it in shutdown mode again.
Be sure you turn your wifi off before shuting down so you could initialize the sim at boot and see if you got conection.
Good Luck.
Hi guys,
I have a problem. Following: My Galaxy S4 shattered yesterday after a hard front facing drop. Screen, Touch and AMOLED aren't working anymore. I went home and plugged it in my computer and over ADB I pushed all folders to my PC. After that, I grabbed my old phone (Galaxy Note 1), charged it and pushed all folder to it. But the Note 1 had a problem: It doesn't read the SIM Card. I put a SIM card in it and when I turn it on, it says: "Please insert SIM-Card" on the Notification Bar. I need a phone for making calls. ...
Can I somehow "clone" my SIM-Card and hardcode it on my Note 1, so that I can use the phone without using the Dead SIM-Slot?
If that's really really really not possible, can somebody give me a ultra-high-resolution photo of the mainboard of the phone? Maybe a resistor or something broke off and I didn't see (I have nothing to compare the mainboard). Or maybe can I upload a photo from mine?
Thanks very much in advance for any help.
No one? :/
:c
First time I hear someone trying to "hard-code" a SIM onto a phone. Hate to break it to you, it's not possible. Your only option is to get the SIM card slot fixed.
