[Q] Acer Liquid Mt stuck in bootloop - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an unlocked Acer Liquid Metal. I rooted it when I got it near the start of last year (2012). It has been fine since. Today I was typed out a message that I was going to send and as soon as I clicked the send button, the phone went off and restarted and has been stuck in a bootloop since. (stuck on android logo). Anyone else had same or similar problem? how can I fix this?

You should be able to get your phone out of the bootloop by booting into recovery mode and wiping the cache. After wiping the cache select the reboot option and your phone should then reboot and startup normally.

Tried to get into Recovery mode using the following key combo's (with SD Card and without):
hold vol+,vol- and focus (half pressed camera button) while turning on.
This seems to be loading recovery but as soon as the progress bar comes up it stops with a Triangle (Exclamation mark inside it) and a little android underneath that.
? any clues how I get past this?

Managed to get into Recovery using the following key combo:
Volume Up + Focus + Power On, release and press focus again after vibrate
Had ClockworkMod Recovery v4 installed. Cleared the Cache Partition > Rebooted > and still the same - got stuck on the Android boot screen.
Any thing else I can try?

Try rebooting into recovery again and wiping the data and the cache.

It is now broken?

What is the problem? The device accidentally dropped on the floor. It worked without any problems, but when the reboot, it automatically went to the recovery mode. The warranty period has expired, so is there any way to fix it?

Are you stuck in recovery, and can you use the recovery (Move through menus etc)?

Yes.
It might sound daft but:
from within recovery select "Reboot into Recovery" (in Advanced?)
Once it boots back into recovery select "Reboot".
It did not help...
have you tried cold-booting it? hold down power and volume down until you see the option to boot into recovery, then do nothing until the pre-boot menu appears on screen (wipedata/cold-boot android) choose the android, press volume up to select, then it shoot give a dialog message of "cold-booting linux" and it should go into the boot animation sequence and on to the rom.

Nexus 10 - unlock bootloader didn't go as expected

Hi guys,
I tried to unlock the bootloader of my Nexus 10 before rooting it. Unfortunately, it didn't work and I can't use it anymore (I either have the "Loading X" forever or a dead droid while trying to go to the recovery mode).
I'm used to do that kind of modifications (only on Samsung Galaxy S and S3 though) and I don't know what I did wrong (but I usually flashed with Odin).
Anyway, I used this tool (after enabling the usb debug and allowing unknown sources) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001868
I installed the drivers on my PC (menu 1 in the tool), then I could see my device in ADB MODE (in the tool menu). I tried to unlock the bootloader (3rd option in the menu) and it was written completed. My device reboots and nothing happens. I can access the fastboot mode (is it the download mode ?).
I have Odin.
Can someone help me to get a working device ?
Thank you very much.

Easy fix. Get to the dead droid recovery menu and then press all 3 buttons on the top. You will get into the blue recovery options. Choose factory reset.
Sometimes unlocking the bootloaders scrambles a few things on this device and it goes into boot loop. After the factory reset, you'll be fine. PM me if you still have issues.

Okay, thank you very much. I didn't know I had to press the 3 top buttons again after the dead droid screen, I thought it failed loading the Recovery Mode.
I have to setup my account etc again so I guess it is safe to say it worked.
Additionally, I tried this method after the recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015467
and it worked fine. My device has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted.
hey if someone could help me im stuck myself, after i had the dead android in recovery mode i tried to flash software with the toolkit in fastboot and now when i go to recovery its just a blank screen till i hold the bottom combo again and it takes me back to fastboot

Hey,
I'm having the same problem. I get to the dead droid instead of recovery and tried hitting all three buttons again but it's just looping again.
Any ideas?

It sounds like you didn't actually perform a factory reset. The key combination to get into stock recovery from the dead android screen is Power + Vol-Up. That will bring up the option to factory reset.
So if your powered off or bootlooping, hold the Power + Vol-Up + Vol-Down until you're back in the Bootloader. Use Vol buttons to select Recovery Mode and tap Power. When the droid w/ the Red "!" appears, hold the Power button and quick press the Vol-Up button. This should take you into stock recovery. Select Factory reset. Reboot. After a few minutes, the device should boot normally.
Good luck.

Ok found a video showing that when you get to that part where there's the dead droid (the red !), you don't press hold hold all three buttons but tap them until the recovery screen shows up.
So finally did that but I still have the same problem.
My initial problem was, I received my N10, open the box, turned it on and it started freezing and rebooting. Can't get past the wifi step.
Tried hard and many times to finally get to enter my gmail account, etc
Updated to 4.3, problem persisted so I figured, maybe the factory flashed a bad rom?
So I unlocked it, rooted it and tried flashing older stock versions, same problem.
Tried flashing CM, same; PA, same...
Tried deactivating location service as suggested elsewhere: same; uninstall chrome: same
Even CM withouf GAPPS wouldnt work
So basically, I have a $500 brick. Completely useless as it freezes every 30 seconds.
Decided not to return the device because although I am Canadian, I live in SE Asia and had a visiting friend bring it to me. Way past the return period and the overall experience would be a real pain in the butt... Don't know what to do. Really hoping Kit Kat will solve it but I have doubts.
What do you think?
Sorry. I don't know enough about these things to give more in depth troubleshooting advice. I just recently got my N10 & unlocked it and based on your original post, I thought that's where you needed help. But it sounds like you got past that and got it unlocked.
Have you tried downloading a factory image directly from Google and installing that? If it's locking up on a fresh install of any ROM, it very well may be a hardware issue. You may have to file a warranty claim if possible.

[Q] [HELP!] GT - I9100 bricked

Well I was undervolting and underclocking my i9100 for a few months and it would suffer from freezes and stuff like that nothing much as I would be able to perform a hard reset and reboot with my phone completely working everytime that happens. However today, I just locked my phone after taking a picture and I could not unlock it after that. I pressed the power button and home button but the screen would not turn on. So i just took out the battery and tried booting the phone. It was stuck in a bootloop where the boot animation would just keep on playing. So i force shutdown it and booted it into recovery. I had CWM 6.0.4.6 installed and when i booted into recovery, it gave me the message it cannot mount something and cannot load last kmsg and blah. I took no notice and tried to format cache. During this point, the recovery hanged and i force shutdown my phone again. After which, I could never turn on my phone again. No splash screen no nothing. I think it is bricked. And yea btw my usb port is not working anymore and it can only be used for charging. And i was running cm11 infected. Can you all please help me thanks!
so no recovery nor download mode?
Sadly, no

Yep i cannot even boot into anything no splash screen no nothing pressed the power button for like so long i even removed the battery for 2 hours and popped it back in not working
Try this - take out battery, then press and hold volume down+home+power and put battery back without releasing buttons. This may get you into a download mode where you can flash stock jb via odin.

You only need to hold (Volume Up + Power) until it reboots.

Attempted update to Developer Preview, stuck on "Fire"

I attempted to update to Developer Preview, tablet restarted and now just displays the animated "fire" screen, for the past two hours. Do I just hold down the power button to try to restart? This is a Fire HD 6, btw.

Sounds like this was your first attempt before you had root?
In any event, your fix will be carried out by US Postal service. Get in touch with Amazon, and they'll replace it.

Same thing happened to me, I fixed it by holding the power button until it powered off, then plugged in the charging cable...waited about 20 minutes and the tablet booted up into the developer preview.
Yes, I read here that I need the developer preview so I can downgrade to 4.5.3 so I can root. My wife wants google play and a regular browser on this thing, she already has a Kindle paperwhite she likes for books. I did restart it multiple times, keeps coming back to the fire splash. Brand new device. Oh, well, back it goes, I guess. Thanks.

Try to go to recovery hold down Power Button until its off then press Power + Volume Up
In recovery go to wipe cache and to factory reset (wipe data) then reboot and try if it works!
I am having the same issue & did factory reset in recovery to wipe cache & data. Still stick at "fire".

It worked for me! I did the factory reset with wipe data, and restarted, it sat at "fire" so I just left it, and the next day when I looked at it, it was asking me what language I wanted to use. So now I'm set to start the downgrade process so I can root for my wife.
Thanks!
I had same problem, amazon sent me a new one, but mine was only a week old. Resetting it and trying to restore in recovery mode did nothing.

After waiting for 2hrs, then trying to restart it and waiting again. This solved mine, I knew there was a recovery, just couldn't figure out how to get into it. Thanks.
So i did the wipe cache and factory reset. Its still stuck at fire should i leave it in my charger or without a charger
After getting AMZN support to send me a replacement when my first KF7HD stuck on "Fire", the replacement did the exact same thing. After waiting 2h stuck, I tried this post "Wipe cache"/"Wipe data" and rebooted. 10 min. later, the developer preview starts up fine. Thanks!
