Root + locked bootloader = ??? - HTC Droid DNA

I've got a DNA that I just bought today from someone. Its rooted already with a locked bootloader (that was once unlocked). It has custom recovery installed. Any rom I try to install won't boot and I have to boot into recovery and restore it. It has a functional rom on it now, but the wifi on whatever particular rom it is won't work. I'm not sure what firmware it is its UKB 1.3.0 and PRI version 2.44_002. Not sure if any of that is pertinent information, but I'm just looking to get on a Sense 5 rom with functional wifi. Or at least stock as a whole. It IS trying to accept an OTA update at the moment as well, but I deferred it until the 7th. Thanks for any help anyone can lend.

Ask the dude to email the unlock key so you can unlock it and have fun.

Or just go to htcdev and go through the unlock process.

Doesn't he need the unlock key that is emailed? Last I did this was Nov so I'm a little foggy on the steps.

I thought HTC and Verizon are responsible for the bootloader getting locked again

Since it was unlocked before it has supercid, which means you can just go through the htcdev process again.

It doesn't matter who caused it, the bottom line is that if youve never unlocked and are running 2.04 then the unlock exploit won't work.

Hey guys, I went through the process and it says error code 160: MID not allowed. What does this mean?

When you did it, did you choose other device instead of DNA? You need to use the other devices option.

I did do other devices cause there was no option for a DNA

I'm not really sure but seems there is no way unless if it's the original bootloader, plus this update is only for the mic so it won't fix back and home button. For me it's worthless.
hey guys i tried flashing the ota update via team win recovery and now im stuck at "Running bug_fix1 tool". its been at this for nearly 20 min idk what to do
Same here, it appears as if the update is intended to be used by the stock recovery only.

Is that compatible with the T-Mobile One? Because it's the recovery for the international version, correct?
why not just flash the 4.2 update and get all the fixes
can some post a nandroid of this in twrp, without anything deleted. just rooted,

[Q] Need help returning evo 3d to stock rom. To achieve s-off.

Hey guys I'm new here and need some help with my phone. I bought the EVO 3d from eBay and it was locked and stock..I was excited coming from my HTC inspire. My goal was to get s-off and have full access to my phone. So when I looked up how to s-off I realised that my bootloader wasn't 1.30 or1.40 its 1.58.0000 by trying the revolutionary method and the New way I found that I think works for the 1.58.0000 hboot s off is the Juopunutbear wire trick. My bootloader is unlocked and I'm on a custom Rom but one thing I need to perform the s off using this new method requires a stock firmware..I have tried many ways to get my phone flashed back to stock but nothing works. I have tried using the zip.IMG to sdcard and it will open it then check it and nothing else happens and I make sure i lock my bootloader back using the fastboot OEM lock cmd command before flashing stock firmwares. When I do lock my phone it says security warning under *relocked* and just boots to bootloader until I unlock. I have tried using the ruu.exe on the pc as well but I get a bootloader [140] error. I think the reason the ruu won't work or the zip.IMG is because i updated my phone with the latest 2.95 and I was trying to do the 2.89 which is the ics update I think... Anyway I'm sorry if I've typed a lot but I'm just explaining the problem the best I can. If anyone knows what I can do to s-off hboot 1.58.0000 or return my phone to stock so I can do the wire trick please let me know.
One more thing. To perform the wire trick successfully I read this on one of the steps, Verify - You are on Stock RUU (not FreshROM, Stock Rooted, HarmonyROM - none of these will work!). So I'm not able to install the official ruu but what I did was installed a stock ruu Rom with root, so what if I uninstall the root. Would this be considered the stock ruu? This Rom has not been modified in any other way besides being pre rooted. I also have linux if any one was wondering so I'm able to use any suggestions. Thanks a lot for any help I get and il be super excited if I can get s off. Maybe I can downgrade bootloader but haven't found anything of how to do it from 1.58.0000. THANKS!!
I have done s off on 2 phones while on harmonia. I'm on virgin, but cant imagine it matters. The first phone was hboot 1.57 and the other was 1.58.
I don't think root matters

Thanks for a fast reply. I am using the sprint version of the EVO 3d. not the vm version. Had to remove link from quote cause I don't have 10 posts yet....
All I know is what I did, and I'm on vm and I can't speak for sprint network phones.
However I have flashed several sprint roms and most work.
I would imagine you could use the same s.off process as the vm model.
I'm pretty sure both phones are the same, and use the same hboots
I would think worst case scenario is you would have to run the correct ruu after you get s off, when ruu is run through bootloader you would keep s off. Just my 2 cents

But i managed to flash a stock 2.89 ruu to my phone just now and running fine. Will it still work if im on a stock ruu?

[Q] Re-Locking DNA for Warranty/Sale

OK, some background and disclaimers.
I searched as best as I could and read the FAQ and couldn't find anything that would help me--the relocker thread from 26 Nov 2012 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017525) looked useful but too dated. So no flames please!
I bought this phone off a Verizon store manager in early June, who didn't mention that he had rooted it (or failed to return it to bone stock via re-locking it). Recently, it's been losing bluetooth connection to my car, losing the SIM Card connection, and failing to accept the OTA update (which is a daily, obnoxious occurrence). I checked with a VZW employee today and my phone is still under warranty, so I plan to send it in for replacement due to the former two problems.
Problem 1: Transferring a phone between accounts voids the warranty. Solved, as I won't say anything, and am mysteriously still under warranty.
Problem 2: Unlocking/rooting a phone voids the warranty. However, if I can manage to re-lock the phone, then all should be good.
I'm obviously a casual user and have zero idea how to re-lock the phone or even check if it's still rooted. Yes, I am a newbie.
What should I do?
Whenever I try to run the OTA, I am booted into ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1.
Other relevant stuff:
Android 4.1.1
Software: 2.06.605.1 710RD
Please let me know what else you need to know.
Thank you!

Ok. I'm doing my best to do it on my own without asking dumb questions, but the post I found (yours, actually-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919) says it's for Facepalm/JTAG/RevOne/Moonshine, which I assume are OSes. But my understanding isn't that my phone is flashed or rooted, just that it's unlocked and I have to get rid of the bootloader, which is the Clockwork Recovery mod.
I just tried this http://www.androidcentral.com/is-my-phone-rooted with ConnectBot and don't appear to be rooted.
All those names are s-off methods...

How Do You Tell If You're Locked Or Unlocked?

Hi folks,
I'm selling my phone and trying to get it back to stock. I flashed a lock_bootloader.zip file from another thread to lock the bootloader. I realized though, I don't know how to verify if that was successful. I booted into bootloader. Nothing says Locked or Unlocked. Says Moonshine S-OFF but doesn't say if it's locked or not. Does that mean it's unlocked? Or does that mean that it is locked?
Thanks...sorry for the noob question.
Moonshine hides the lock status so you need to follow the guide to completely go son and then a status will show as locked.

Yes if you are on the stock rom with no deleted or modified system apps, however the update will most likely break root and could result in the inability to root in the future. Usually within days of an update, someone mods the new update and posts it in the dev forum for those who are unable to update, at least that was my experience on the S3.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was somehow able to just push SuperSu onto my phone, no need go into fastboot or anything. After I unlocked the bootloader I restarted my phone and just clicked on Perm Root, it did its thing, I restarted one more time and boom SuperSu was there and root was verified with root checker.
