Hi,
one can have multiple twitter, email etc. accounts on Android (running 4.1.2 on a Galaxy Note), but only one facebook account. However, I have two of them and I need *both* their contacts sync'd to the contacts database (one is my "private" profile for close friends, the other is for work colleagues etc). Also, the built-in facebook authentication has the same problem as the contact sync - I don't want to run games like Real Racing under my "public" FB profile.
Any way to make two FB profiles on one device? Maybe with something like a "virtualization"?

I am pretty new to android. I'm coming from a Blackberry Storm, so this Thunderbolt is insane.
I am a mac user and pretty much use outlook 2011 for my entire existence. It's got my work email and gmail attached. All my contacts are there and I use it for my calendar.
I don't want to start using other programs.
What is the best way to optimize and sync this to my phone? I found a program called sync mate that seems like it could do the trick to tie everything together, including music and photos. Is this a good application?
In regards to emailing, there are two apps on my phone for email, mail and gmail. Can I just use the mail app for both and stop using the gmail one? Should I use gmail app for it and the mail app for my other, work email?
To better sum up, I'm using these apps on my mac computer:
Outlook 2011 - Both email accounts, contacts, calendar
iTunes - Music and videos
iPhoto - Photos
There seems to be a million options on the phone side of things and I'm just trying to find the simplest and optimized way to sync all of this. SyncMate seems the best way, but I'm not sure and also what the best apps to use on the phone for each of these.
Thanks.
Itunes- make a folder in the phones SD card called music or whatever and drag your songs into it the phone will do the rest. ITunes will not sync an android phone
IPHOTO- same as iTunes
Emails- have you ever considered fowrarding your work email to your gmail or setting up your work email in your gmail? Gmail will be able to hold all of your calendar data extra... And Gmail will let you send emails as your work email from your gmail. In my opinion gmail is the best so any way to get everything in one place is the best. Also the google phones aka android work the best with the google email...
THUNDERBOLT
Hello,
I recently purchased the Galaxy S2 phone and one things that annoys me is that if you have a friends that belongs in multiple social networks, you can't join them all to his main phone contact. For example i have a friend's gmail contact on my contact list and i want to join his other contacts from facebook, twitter, last.fm, skype, myspace, whatsapp, linkedin etc.. (for those who don't know, by installing the official social app on your android you get the option to list those contacts on your phone contact list)... Well the problem is that when i try to join a 6th contact i get the message "unable to join contact. maximum number of joined contacts is 5"
I know most of you will problably say use another app for your contacts but i really wanna know if anyone finds it annoying and has found workaround... maybe a tweak to increase the limit, an upgrade or another app that adresses this issue....I really don't wanna use a 3rd party app for my contact list...
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Dennis
Any ideas anyone?
I am interested too, I find it weird you can only merge 5 account...
I guess you can't?
I am interested too, someone in my contact has many social account T T
You can try and do it in gmail rather than your phone

I don't mean gmail contacts i mean gmail conacts with other social network contacts...for example a gmail contact with facebook, skype, linkedin, twitter last.fm etc...
i would be interested as well.
i use google contacts, facebook, twitter, google+, skype and facebook is listed twice, once for its own app, once for social hub and i recently found, some of my contacts that in fact use all the services cannot be merged into one contact anymore, as that would mean, merging 6 contacts.
the sgs2 has great social networking integration, but why set this stupid limit that serves no one? the feature of merging contacts is supposed to combine all online activity of one person into one contact.
+1 on this..
There should be some way to increase the counter on the number ( or remove it completely) for the number of contacts that can be joined..
As the number of social/communication apps grow so do the contacts on those that you would want to link
Anyone has the fix to unlock the 5 contacts limits?
I'm looking forward for this fix too
I have the T-Mobile SGS2, but I found this thread looking for the same answer. I found this feature request though on the android project that anyone wanting this feature should probably star and add a comment on to convince them to add it...
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16735
i could develop it partially now, I could remove the limit, but when I make the order to join it said "contacts joined" but actually nothing happened!
so i am working on it to find the problem
i will post in SGSII developing section once it is done
so stay close

I couldn't figure out why the facebook one is listed twice - I was going crazy!! Should both be joined?
Also, I have a contact that has a twitter account and when I click on "join contact" I don't see their twitter account to select to join... how do I do this?
Thanks!
Maria
current the stock contact doesn't allow that, but i have seen it work on an EVO3D.
i really need a fix for this issue, anyone to help ????

Go to twitter settings and under other settings choose sync all for "Contact settings"
Go to your contacts app and the twitter contact should be there now to link to other contacts (if not then press the menu hard key, go to more, display options, and tick all contacts under twitter)
Once you're done syncing, you can untick display all twitter contacts to hide unnecessary ones and can go back to twitter and change contact sync to existing contacts to minimise data usage
Also social hub is a stupid app, just replicates what the official facebook app does, if i were you I would remove your facebook account from social hub and you won't have duplicate facebook contacts then
Well I placed my order for my Lumia today! I am anxious to get it and take it for a spin. As a a previous HTC One X user I am curious if there are any tips for making the switch anyone could provide.

Yep, the only thing I would recommend, is to take a few minutes, or hours to arrange your contacts in your live account:
1. Delete contacts that you don't know
2.- Merge repeated contacts so ther is one contact with full information instead of multiple.
3.- Find on Internet how merge Facebook Calendar events on your live calendar (Very useful for events, and birthdays)
4.- If necessary, add manually, or via Office Outllok your current phone contacts to your live contacts. (Use outlook Connector to add your live account to Outlook, and edit your contacts from there, it much more easy and fast)
5.- If you do all the above steps you wont have to ever think about syncing or backing up contactas ever.
6.- If you add a Coporate Exchange account, contacts wont be merged or displayed on your contacts( that's cool, because most of the time, you dont even know that well of the people on your job) but if you have to write an email for example, you will be able to use your corporate adress book.
7.- If you want to add birthdays of people in your contacts list, don't make it through calendar, make it in the contact itself, so when you are reminded of an event or birthday you can write on facebook wall or text, or call directly from the calendar app.
Once you do that, it is really impressive how WP merge all your contacts from your different services ex: live, facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc, The very few contacts that aren't merged because for example you use nicknames or name abbreviations yo can merge with no hassle inside each contact.
If you do this, you are prepared for the best experience ever, because on the case of phone lost, or formatting or new phone you just input your live credentials and vualá you have your contacts, and calendar synced right away.
Besides that, you only have to find your favorites apps, taking in to you account that for example, facebook and twitter are already embedded in the operating system so they are not necessary.
Welcome to Windows Phone, it is an amazing experience
Excellent thanks!

These are good suggestions but probably not required.
When you add different accounts such as Hotmail, multiple Google accounts, Facebook etc, the contacts will all be merged if they share the same name. If not, you can still manually merge them on the phone. None of the information on the corresponding services is changed - only the way it is displayed on your phone. You can also un-merge certain contacts if you want to. You can also choose what contacts you want to see on the People hub - so for instance, you can turn off your Outlook (work) contacts.
The same is true for the calendars - you can choose which calendars to sync and which ones to show in the Calendar app.
I don't see a need to go through organizing everything online - can be a pain if you have hundreds of contacts.
In case of a lost phone, you still have all the data - just spread around on different services and it will be a breeze to set it up again.
Case in point: I have Hotmail, three Google accounts, Facebook and work email account set-up. Took me less than 5 mins to organize everything on the phone. I turned off Facebook and work email on my People hub - I don't want to see all those contacts.
Anybody else - if you have a different experience, please speak up. But I assure you syncing multiple contacts and calendars is a breeze.

Hello everybody,
I spent the last hour with what felt like reading about almost every birthday app in the play store.
But not a single one seems to do what I am looking for. *sigh
I have a lot of Google Contacts and I am pretty eager to have my friend's and colleague's brithdays in there. I usually add them manually.
Google Calendar has become an omnipresent companion in my life...so I used the "show birthday calendar" feature since it was introduced in the Calendar's "Labs".
To not miss out on birthdays of newer friends, which I haven't added to my Google Contacts yet, I subscribed to the iCal-Feed of Facebook, as well.
So far so good...but there are problems:
Problem #1:
I want to avoid facebook-synchronisation, because my opinion is that my whole adress-book is none of facebook's business. So syncing contacts and canceling the facebook ical-subscription is no option. Besides that I wouldn't be able to see all the other facebook events.
So around 50% of my birthdays appear twice in my Google Calendar, one pulled from Google Contacts and the other one from Facebook.
Problem #2:
It would be best to set reminders for individual contacts or groups and not for the entire calendar. The latter is the only option for subscribed calendars, such as the direct Google Contact pulled one, as well as the facebook feed.
So for a while I used eboBirthdays to sync all of the contact's birthdays into a new and separate editable "normal" Google Calendar "calendar". That worked quite well, even though I was missing out on the facebook contacts again.
(I know that eboBirthdays added a facebook sync feature, but many people chose to use different or abbreviated names on facebook (mostly for privacy reasons) which makes an automated sync impossible.)
Problem #3:
There are just too many contacts so that almost every day there are 3-4 birthdays marked in my calendar.
I organize all my contacts in many separate Google Contacts groups. This helps me to filter them in my all my contact applications easily and with no additional tools.
It would be great to select the displayed birthdays based on this groups as well.
Is there any birthday app that comes close to those functions?
Or is there another solution that I am just overlooking?
I would be thankful for every hint
All the best!
No one? :/
Is there nothing out there?
Hi. I am new here.
I have problem with sync contacts from Facebook on my smartfon with Android 4.4.4 (Samsung Galaxy Core Prime LTE). It was working about 1 or 2 weeks ago, now doesn't work. Android doesn't download even 1 contacts from Facebook to his address book.
I logged out from Facebook application, deleted account Facebook from account in address book. Then added Facebook account again, logged in in Facebook application. Switch on sync all contacts and setup contacts to show for google account and Facebook account. Sync was completed and nothing was downloaded.
I don't know how can I fix this up.
PS: Facebook application was reinstalled, doesn't help..
PS2: application such sync.me doesn't download any FB contacts , too.
Seems like it probably has something to do with their new API. Check out the info for another FB contact sync type app here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync
Yes it is the api. After the change and the current tos from Facebook Google removed androids native sync options for Facebook.

You just need a 3rd party app to do it. Facebook is not really a big thing with alot of people I know so I really dont use it much and stopped syncing stuff from it when the TOS changed a while ago.
Test a few out in the play store. One of them is bound to work.
