The same way as You were rooting ICS on DesireX.
1) Unlock bootloader (if it's locked or relocked)
2) Install custom recovery ( AFAIK the only recovery working on JB is Nexus Recovery)
3) Install supersu or superuser (i use the first one)
OR
Repeat steps 1) and 2)
3) Install custom ROM

Ok TWR installed, but I can't find an option to root my phone?
Also installed SuperSu, but phone is not rooted.
Where is this option in TWR:
- Add a root checker and offer to install SuperSU if the device isn't already rooted
I also instaled supersu.zip 1.25 from TWR...but phone is not rooted!
Thank you!

For JB, you can't use TWRP as it is not updated to support JB yet.
You need to use this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39662992&postcount=66
Then only install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
BUT I think you will not get FULL ROOT as the hTC write protection is still enabled for stock JB boot.img/stock JB kernel

you have a custom Rom and Root Access, but not the s-off mode, so you can "delete" the apps, but you don't really delete the app you delete only the shortcut and after a reboot is your app list like before you "delete" something

And you can see apps.
Now you can delete from recovery all apps.

Seriously, the whole rooting proccess on 7500 takes about 30 seconds. You need to do exactly what's outlined in this thread.

1. Download this Root.zip file to your tablet and move it to root directory of tablet storage. (you can also download on comp. then transfer to tablet)
2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
rooted already
For CWM
1. After rooting download and install Rom Manager from market.
2. open Rom Manager app and have it install clockwork Mod to your device, you should see your device listed within Rom manager.
3. Done.

It doesn't wipe any data, it simply installs root. If you need CWM you need to do the "For CWM" steps.

After reading this post, I remembered a funny thing,
I accidently downloaded the 7510 files instead of the 7500 files when i rooted my tab.... The thing is that I rooted with no problems and it worked great.
how can this happen? Is this normal?

Root on 7500
Hi! I want to be sure of something before doing it...
I want to become root on my 7500 I can't afford to lose any thing on it (apps, data, settings...) because it's not my tab.
So by downloading the RETAIL 3G [GTP7500] root.zip, and going into recovery mode to install the zip, will I lose something or not? Someone said in this post that no data is wiped, but in there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
They say that install a rom in going to wipe all the apps... and I feel like it's what we do here since we are in the recovery mode.
Anyway, thanks for any precisions.

This has been answered several times in this thread.
Installing a custom recovery and installing Superuser does not cause you to lose data. You'll end up with a rooted, but still stock, tablet. All of your data will still be there unless you do something else, like installing a custom ROM.
Download cwm recovery.md5 from droidbasement
Do some odin, install superuser.

is there any way to root my device
thanks
Boot into recovery, go to developer menu and select install su, then reboot and install superuser from the market. You will then be perm rooted.
I tried this on the new Unofficial Offical release and it did not work for me. I can't use adb due to restrictions on my computer so I am trying to figure out a way to do it through recovery. I tried Amon 3.14 but that did not work for me it installed SuperUser but does not give me root access. Anyone have any ideas ???? Thanks in advance for your help.

your welcome ! I didn't have to install SU from market for some reason, but glad it worked out !
I was given a Legend today and found that I could have it rooted in 3 easy steps.
1. Use HTCdev to unlock bootloader.
2. Install CWM 5.0.2.8 recovery.
3. Install superuser zip via CWM.
That's it, I ve superuser permission for all the rooted apks and confirm thru terminal emulator that I ve the $ change to #.

I put the recovery img in the same folder as the token and i used fastboot to push recovery img. It works and right after i flash superuser 3.0.7 efghi signed zip.
I am now enjoying Rom Devil 2.3.7, setcpu 760/312MHz, no lag and bootloop. Only apk on phone memory are google play and setcpu all others on sd which i did ext3 partition. I ve 175mb free. Good browsing speed, Flash 11 works and battery life good.Enjoying it
I underestimated this phone when !st saw it, must say its easier to carry around than my DHD albeit a smaller version. Good phone, tho 2 yrs plus. I think i can used it for quite a while as my friend hardly use it since he got it new.

S-off is not so necessary here, the most important thing is to root your system and install expose framework then activate sense 6.0 toolbox. After reboot your phone you will get the functioned exposed framework.
I got everything working perfectly, thanks for the help guys. Now I just need to flash an unsecure kernel so I can get S-Off. Last time I tried, I got stuck on the white logo screen for about an hour until I finally was able to figure out how to get back to recovery, then flashed my backup.
