Hello there.
Like many others, I'm experiencing a big issue regarding DSP with Spotify, it seems it doesn't route audio through system's DSP chain.
Spotify has its own DSP panel, I don't use it because quality is bad, but more then this, I need to kill Spotify to make other apps use system's DSP: when Spotify is running system's DSP is off and apps like DSP manager cannot manage it.
I hate apps that take system's control without user's acknowledgement, so I'm really thinking to remove Spotify.
Has anybody more expert than me found a way to fix this?
I'm on SGS2, Android 4.1.2 stock ROM and kernel, rooted.
Thanks and best regards

I've used DSP Manager and like it very much but after some time a problem arises. When any sound is produced by the phone through the speaker/headphones, there is always a high pitched sound. In DSP Manager, I've only enabled the equalizer for 'Headset'. The problem goes away after I reboot the phone then after some time it comes back again and only a reboot will solve it. I'm on Elelinux's rom. Is this a rom issue or just an application issue? Is there a fix? Please help me.. I really like the bass DSP Manager gives.
Got the same problem. Gave up on dsp and use mixzing with its in built eq for now
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Only reason i didn't put this in the themes apps section is that it could be a mod as well. What i'm looking for or hoping to have either an app or option in tsm settings for example to set the controls for bluetooth devices.
I currently use a a2dp headset for listening to music, podcast ect. On the bluetooth device there are play, pause, forward, back controls as common on most. My issue is setting which app is to be associated with those controls. Of course some apps have this as a setting to enable this or not. However some do not and sometimes an app gets control that you did not wish.
The most convenient solution seems to me would be to have a menu or app independent of said music/podcast apps that a user to point the controls to the app of choice. This would eliminate the need to go through the settings in each app as well as help with those apps that have no setting for this.
Now seeing how this seems like it would be a fairly common request i would imagine there is already a solution for this. However i have yet to find it.
Would appreciate any assistance
Thanks
Dang, am I the only one with this headache?
Well I was on the Daily New's website and I opened a video and it opened HTC streaming media player. Beats audio showed up in the taskbar like with htc music except when I closed streaming media it was still there allowing me to use it with things like grooveshark and Pandora. I'm not sure if this is a freak thing or if this is a glitch that works in our favor. I encourage you to try it and report back. Thanks!
Note: htc streaming media is not in your app drawer. I don't know how to open it without clicking the right video
I am going to assume you didn't actually close the app, therefor the icon stayed in the status bar but was not actually equalizing the Pandora/etc.
No, I closed the app in a task killer. I think I would know if I closed it or not. And it is actually equalising Pandora because when I press disable you can hear a difference.
Is the beats audio feature software or hardware?

Both. The Beats DSP is hardware. The EQ settings and API are software. Now oddly enough I've had similar experiences but they were short lived. Such as I switched from playing a song in stock to watch a video or something and 30 seconds into the video the beats EQ gave out finally and there was a noticeable drop in audio fidelity on the video I was watching. I'd like to find a way to force it always on.. maybe someone can make an app with the api that just runs in the background holding Beats open.
An App is something that I was getting at. There is the released versions of the stock rom, its gotta be in there somewhere. And with all the custom roms coming out its gotta be available to modify and such. Ill have to start digging into it this weekend.
If you are rooted, try this post. The sound will carry to all apps like Pandora, or Google Music:

He gives you pics of exact settings to reproduce the sound, and further along in the thread another guy gives another group of settings that sounds even better. Try both and see which you like. Both sound great, but they're your ears, so do what's best for you.
I did it and it sounded great, just be careful with task managers because if you kill the DSP manager, it will stop the EQ settings.
If you're not rooted there are apps that set the eq that you can buy from the market. Hope that helps.
There is supposed to be an update coming in the near future that will allow you to use beats on all apps... I think
Hey,
I'm using Crystal PA with nikita's Cyanogen 11 Extended Kernel on my d620.
I experience some "sound artifacts" / noise / interference when listening to music on my phone. Those are distorted sounds that occur randomly while listening to music with headphones or via phone speakers.
But the strange thing is , if I use CM's Apollo music player everything is normal.
I'd just use Apollo to play music, but it doesn't quite offer all the features I need.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be?
Would installing Viper4Android help?
EDIT: I'll reflash the Rom and see if it helps
I just reflashed the Rom and there are still artifacts.
I nailed DSP down to generate this issue.
I really like the AudioFX in the CyanogenMod ROMs, unfortunately, it's effects just for only Music app, when I use other apps like MX Player, Youtube or directly from Browser,... It hasn't effects.
- I've searched and used some alternative Equalizer Apps but it's not better than AudioFX with the best function is: Auto detect the Output (Headphone, Speaker, Bluetooth, USB,...)
- I also tried the Viper4Android, It's nearly similar but always requires have to installed Busybox for Driver's Installation and rooted.
- The DSP Equalizer is same with AudioFX, no more especial.
So somebody has another solution?
Or somehow to apply CM AudioFX'effects for all other app or System?
