Can't figure out why but my DNA won't boot to android unless plugged into USB. Once its up and running, USB unplugging causes phone to reboot and boot loop. Phone is rooted with s off running on ukb ROM. Boot loader and recovery are accessible.
Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks in advanced.

I have I've tried that through both twrp and cwm. Reflashed rom as well with no luck. I've also tried wiping sdcard and internal storage.
Try flashing a different kernel. If you aren't soff then maybe you need to flash the kernel recommended by the ROM.
If flashing a kernel does t work then you might want to go back to stock and then get your phone working and then proceed to do a clean install of the rom of your desire.

I did try flashing stock kernel but still same problem. Also tried the boot.IMG provided with the ROMs I've flashed but still the same result. I've tried stock ruu but never got it to work even after OEM lock the phone

Looks like we have tried just about everything that we possibly could have. You tried ruu back to stock completely relock? Usually if that doesnt work it may be a hardware problem and you might need to get a new phone through warranty or insurance. At this point i'm out of ideas of what you could possibly do.
Narrowing Down on it being hardware related somehow. Cause everything software has been changed

yeah i was afraid of that =/ must be something relted to the usb slot. thanks anyways.
Unfortunately, i just ran into this same issue. Just wanted to post that going back RUU and relock does nothing. I believe that it is probably an indicator of a failing battery. This would explain why being on charge, the phone will operate. e.g. underpowered (voltage) when on battery alone.

what if I pull the battery directly after oden finishes and then do the 3 finger to boot into recovery, would that keep it from going back to stock recovery?

That'll work.
See, you aren't supposed to have the battery in when you use Odin anyways, that way, when it is done flashing, your phone just powers off making it easy to slap in the battery and do the three-finger into cwm at first boot.

make sure you unplug the phone before you put the battery in. if not, it'll just boot as normal.
There is no ED01 radio that we have available, so I'd be wary of whatever radio file you're flashing. Also, Odin 1.7 doesn't always work properly, try using version 1.3.

Side note on this, is there any practical barrier to bundling a kernel with a recovery Odin?
I noticed in the kernel packages that they generally modify /system when they install. So perhaps you would have to odin over data also to run in a script to complete the kernel install at boot. Meh, it would just be nice if installing recovery didn't require immediately wiping kernel and then odining recovery again.
I figured a compromise would be to CWM recovery with the kernel in the same step, then I noted I was just being lazy and it really isn't much trouble to go through once per factory restore.

I would download a CWM Odin file and one of the two odin files from here. Flash one of the two (doesn't matter which you do first) and once it completes, unplug the phone, and then plug it back in holding volume down to get back into recovery and flash the other file. You'll then have a stock kernel that won't re-flash recovery, so if you boot normally, it won't matter. You can also download Odin 1.3 from here

as mentioned previously the ROM Manager one DOES NOT WORK. 5.0.2.8 DOES NOT WORK! you NEED to user Jokers, TWRP or the 5.0.2.7-photon3 recoveries ONLY. you can find the working recoveries on my site. choose which one suits you best! don't use Jokers V4 because it won't flash google apps properly.

I am running cm7, or rather was running cm7 coz now my phone is stuck in the boot loop limbo. Kept getting the error "com.android.phone stopped working" and I was unable to make or receive calls all day. hmmm... CDMA user? or GSM? i remember that bug being around in the very early builds of CM7. are you on the latest nightly or stable release?
i might also recommend changing some build prop info (which could be causing this?) to make sure it tells the radio to operate in the correct mode. gsm or cdma. if you look for ro.telophony.default_network=? the ? should be a 4 for CDMA or a 7 for GSM. change to your liking. then reboot. this was an issue in CM9 for the longest time and this is how it was resolved. it's possible it could be the same for CM7.
another option is to of course start over. wipe the cache, data, system partitions, possibly even twice. flash cm7. twice to be safe. then gapps. twice to be safe. then give it another shot.
other than that it might be a bad download or a bad build. so try another if it doesn't work. hope this helps you!
CDMA user, for now I am able to have my phone back on, but I will probably steer away from CM7 AND perhaps try CM10. All I keep finding is an unofficial release, is this the only one there is?

there will never be any officials releases unless somehow Motorola decides they want to give us drivers/source for ICS or JB. which is never. unless we get a leak.
I have an AT&T i717 running ics stock rom. I installed cwm 5.0. something and was intending on installing the CM10 JellyBean rom from paranoid. It would not install from sd card. tried another rom from diff developer, same thing. I read that I needed an updated cwm so I tried to flash another, wouldnt work with the version of ODIN i had so i upgraded to v3.07, was able to flash another and then when I went to recovery it stayed in a black screen, reflashed the older version of cwm and now when I go to recovery it will show the main screen, but if I try to install or even reboot it takes the menu away and shows the symbol in the center. Am I just completely stupid? Have I missed something?

Figured it out. Cleared both cache and delvik Cache and did a factory reset. worked like a charm. thanks for the help and I hope this helps others as well.
Just for future reference, also wiping system along with wiping cache/dalvik and factory reset is good practice. Sometimes not wiping system can cause some issues.

I am running the Cyanogenmod 11 Nightly from the 11th, and also running crpalmers kernel 5.4.2. I had ART turned on, and was running Gravitybox Xposed Modules. While I was using the phone, while on the charger, it randomly rebooted, and showed the splash screen. The phone was just about dead when it was being used on the charger. While on the charger, the phone repeatedly shows the splash screen, followed by a black screen, and then a vibration like it had just been powered on, and shows the splash screen. This cycles while plugged into the computer. When first plugged into the computer, the computer (Windows 7) makes noises like it is connected and then removed. The phone is not recognized in fastboot or adb. I was able to access the bootloader menu by holding the power and volume down keys. Usually I can not navigate through it by using the volume keys, and it reverts back to the bootloop within 30 seconds. I don't know what is causing this problem, so I tried to give as much info as possible. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hope someone can get you sorted out. Never experienced that particular issue.

I was able to stop the bootloop somehow. Must have been a combination of attempting to charge it all day and the constant attempts to reboot into recovery. Now I'm in recovery, and there is no partitions. I am unable to factory reset or format data of any kind. I had pushed a ROM to the device in the recovery. I was unable to flash this rom, or the stock splash screen.
