Kernel for ROOTING Official INDIA Jelly Bean XWLSK needed. Help - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone give here a KERNEL FOR ROOTING XWLSK OFFICIAL INDIA JELLY BEAN ROM? (4.1.2) GT-I9100 Official Jellybean for INDIA! (XWLSK). Is there a CF-Root Kernel available for this Official Jelly Bean for India??
I do not want any custom ROMs. I want to keep my Official Stock Rom. I just need a Kernel to Root. Can anyone help?

Better not to use insecure kernels for rooting JB..
Try this Universal Rooting method.
Use Method 1.

I can't make head or tail of that method 1 given in that link. It says it is for ICS. I want to ROOT for JELLY BEAN XWLSK version only.
Can you just explain in SIMPLE terms. The instructions given in that Link are so COMPLICATED.
I'm sorry if I sound like a newbie, but I have come back on this forum after a long time. Earlier I just used to Root using CF-ROOT Kernels. Where has CHAINFIRE gone? Is he gone?? Can someone give me a link to CHAINFIRE'S Cf-Root meant for JELLY BEAN XWLSK???

There isn't one. Use the method that's been suggested, or flash the Odin version of a custom kernel which will give you a rooted phone + CWM.

Since ur an old member, u should remember that the first rule of XDA is to 'search before posting'.
The Universal method is for ICS & JB. Its also very simple and can be done without the help of a PC. U don't have to wait for CF to release an insecure kernel also. U can flash it in the stock recovery. But best of all, u don't trip the binary counter, nor do u get the Yellow Triangle!

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for mate! Can you give me the links to some WORKING kernels on XWLSK Jelly Bean? Pls keep in mind I want as close to Official ROM as possible. Someone gave me a link for SIYAH kernel Siyah-s2-v6.0b4.tar which sent my phone into a startup loop. I am looking for a kernel which I can flash via ODIN. Something that works on XWLSK. Can you help?

My friend, I have that link. But CHAINFIRE has not updated it since last ONE YEAR. I cannot see any CF-ROOT kernel there for JELLY BEAN. If not for XWLSK, there is nothing even close. That's why I asked if Chainfire has stopped posting here or what? His kernels worked as smooth as butter. But that page does not have any kernel there which I can use for XWLSK.

Yup, u got that right. Like I said before, we don't use CF kernels for rooting JB anymore. Either flash a custom rooted kernel like Siyah/Dori/Philz via Odin, or use Universal Method.

Stuck on install screen when updating to jellybean on rooted phone

Hi there,
I have a I9100 which was running the samsung stock Android 4.0.4 on the 3 network in the UK which I installed CWrecovery on and rooted. I downloaded an official update via the system update function yesterday and continued installing the update not thinking the root would effect anything, however the the install got stuck on the install screen (like the image attached) while constantly flashing on and off every 3-4 seconds, I pulled the battery after and hour or so. When I power on now it just shows the samsung sII logo along with the triangle and then goes straight back to the android install screen, I also can't go into recovery.
What would be the best thing to do in this instance? would re-flashing a recovery program work?
Thanks for any help!
Whatever happens, DO NOT WIPE DATA OR DO A FACTORY RESET! 4.0.4 is prone to the notorious eMMC brickbug!
Try downloading the new firmware manually and flashing via Odin.

U mean using CF Root kernel to root?
For JB, u can root using a custom kernel like Siyah, using Odin. This will install CWM recovery also and give u root access.
Or u can try the Universal Method to root without installing CWM recovery.

Universal method is intended for those who only want rooted stock firmware, but donot want to flash custom ROMs (no CWM recovery).
Some people have reported issues with CF Root for JB, so Siyah is an alternative. I don't think there are any particular advantages.

[Q] Downgrade Samsung Galaxy S2 from Jelly Bean 4.1.2 to ICS 4.0.4

Hi, I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) to Jelly Bean (4.1.2). I have been using the new OS version for a while now and don't like some of the changes that Samsung have implemented. So I was wondering if there is a way of downgrading the OS back to ICS 4.0.4 (the latest official release). Is there a way to select a custom version in Kies and simply update that way? Or am I stuck with Jelly Bean and will just have to adjust to the changes

Siyah is a custom kernel, but its good too. If you want to root with a stock based kernel, use Philz kernel.

Strange....it should not fail...maybe I was wrong somewhere..
Now for the size, siyah is a simple(but good) kernel which acts as a base for most of the kernels (eg dorimanx)..
Base Siyah kernel offers less options for customization as compared to other kernels that use siyah as base.
Other kernels offer far more options in stweaks compared to siyah.
Those "many" options may not be useful for all the users hence the size of siyah kernel is small as u said.

Thats better! Always mention some stuff you tried or read, so that we feel you have tried to search and failed.
You can flash Siyah or Philz kernel.
Or if u don't want a custom recovery, use this guide:

Sorry, but recommendations are not allowed on this forum. I suggest you try and see which u like.
To be honest, it doesn't matter which u choose, because once u flash a custom rom, the kernel will be replaced.
If ur really confused...
Philz - same as stock, but improved custom recovery
Siyah - custom kernel, more features, more tweaks
Dorimanx - based on siyah, heavily tweaked and tuned
Jeboo - haven't personally tried, but I think its a tweaked stock kernel
