Hello!
First, I apologize for my poor english. It's not my mother tongue.
I'm using JB 1.4.2 on Razr i.
There's one thing that's annoying me a lot. I've installed the SNES Emulator SuperGNES and I've found that every single file type that have no app associated is showing SuperGNES icon and associated with it. Example: .log, .db, etc. Even files that have no extension is associated with it. The same problem occur when ZArchiver is installed. I don't know if it's a bug of these two apps or Android's in general. Remembering that this associations are shown only inside Android's native file manager. It's like every "unknown MIME type file" act like being the same.
I only want to understand why it's happening, even if there's no solution...
Thanks in advance!
When we try to open files it's the file explorer fires an activity with the data of file properties any app that has declared to receive intents of that specific type are launched.
In case the app fails to filter what file types it reads that app would be called every time you open a file unless there's a default app to do so.

It's like the application telling the system that it can open "anything"... interesting...
So the problem is in app itself. Maybe an mistake made by developer when setting what files it can open.

Found this thread on xda's "Droid RAZR General" forum that mentions conflicting results with a workaround for the TWC app preventing the livetv feature if you have root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604411
Just want to point out that on my AT&T NOTE (Seraphim First Flight ROM) renaming the /system/app/Superuser.apk then clearing the TWC app from memory was successful. Was then able to use the TWC Live TV feature.
A script to do this automatically is probably warranted but I'm sure some of the great minds here on xda will beat me to it !
Worked fine for me on DAGr8 alpha II, no moding needed
Just wonder if any way to get live TV working when off my home wifi network.

Anyone tried "hide my root" for this? I can't test it since I don't live in a TWC services area.

Any solutions on this problem.
When i open my google play or marketplace it always say server error. Last night i just dl opera mini then the next day it is always server error. Im also amazed by this problem because i googled this one but almost all post related to this cannot be solved. I tried clearing the data of the app. Reboot. But still no avail. I just want to get a clean answer , so all android users experiencing this would also benefit. Thanks
Solved: flashed my s2 woth speedmod kernel then flash after rooting. Install marketplace enabler. Working now

Try clearing Google Play Store and Google Framework Services data in: settings>applications>manage applications>(find both and select the "clear data" button). See if that helps.

Okay, try this: http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/downloads/list
This app basically fools your Android phone and sets different provider/area that you are using.
When you run the app go to Setting list tab and chose one of providers, you will need to press and hold on your chosen provider/area! And chose “fake this provider now” option. (your play app needs to be shutdown before this step for this to work)

hello all,
I am looking for app. or any other solution which disable the camera.
Does anyone have such a solution?
Thanks,
htako
You could use Titanium Backup to freeze your cammera app. (Although i suspect it would cause some future force-closes)
If you only want to prevent camera usage for a non-advanced user, you could just hide the camera icon, using samsung´s touchwiz-embeded hide icons feature.
anyhow, why would someone want to disable their camera anyways?
Simple move or delete it from /system/app with something like Root Explorer...

As second poster said, freeze it, but it can be unfreezed...
But it's kinda pointless you do so from software, because other people can easily download and install another camera from play store... unless you can disable it under hardware level...

Use something like Root Explorer or similar file manger, navigate to /dev , there is a file named "exynos-mem" , long press it, choose permission, and uncheck all box
See screenshot
I DO HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND TAKE NOTE OF ITS PREVIOUS PERMISSION SETTING IN ORDER TO RESTORE CAMERA FUNCTION , OTHERWISE YOU WILL DISABLE YOUR CAMERA AND WON'T BE RECOVERED EVEN YOU FLASH NEW ROM UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT TO THE RIGHT PERMISSION. Do you familliar with apps that control camera dis/en?
the solution you recommended seems to be irreversible
It shouldn't be irreversible. Go back to the file long press and select the boxes same as last time.
You're only changing permissions, once back to how it was, this will bring the camera app back.

Open a file explorer. I'm using Root Explorer
Navigate to: System\App
Locate S-voice_Android_phone_NLI.apk
Long press it until a menu pops up.
Select Permissions.
Check the boxes as shown in the first post. Done.
By the way, I reverted back the original S-Voice as the new one no longer seems to work. Maybe this will clear up after the release of S4.
Okay I've come to conclusion of rooting my phone so I can in install CyanogenMod 10.1. BUT I need your guy's help during the process. Here's some questions I need to ask.
On Q9, what does it mean to add lines on "hosts" file? Do you just rename the hosts file and add lines something like this? "_hosts_"
And for Q10, telling me to follow steps to 3 to 10. Does it mean I have to do it all over again? ..
Sorry for being uneducated about this, lol. I'm a noob and learning.

I'm not trying to be mean but if you can't follow this rooting method you might not want to try cm-10. Try to root first and get comfortable with it.
The two questions refer to the offline fix method link that's in question 10

When notepad pops up, right click it and select "Run as administrator"
Now click the FILE tab (at the top left corner) and select open
Now got to window/system32/drivers/etc

No, if it's your only phone. I don't recommend it. I lot of stuff can go wrong and, if you have to install the fastboot driver and etc.
Think of it like this, changing the host file is like a grain of sand, BUT installing the omap drive and flashing in fastboot (if something goes wrong) is a huge BOULDER. get my point. Master this first and do a lot more reading before doing anything else. Look at all the threads in the help section. Several things can go wrong, and you have to be prepared for all of them. :sly:
