Anyone Else notice the Q-slide bar in the notificaiton tray is missing with out version of jellybean?
that would be a win in my book. i am not a fan of how much room it takes up, since i never use it. I am holding off on moving from Snow for a day or two to see what the general consensus is with the ota.
Are their any benefits of it over Snow?
I'm hoping it'll be a bit more stable than SnowJB. Several apps exit/stop working after the screen is turned off, notably Tasker and many apps that turn off the screen via the proximity sensor.
I'll wait for a flashable zip to come out first though

Qslide in Notifaction - Working
I got qslide to appear in the notification area. I used the SnowLeopardJB's qslide addon for his stock jb version. I just replaced the lgsystemui.apk with the one in his zip file. I haven't seen any issues yet. However, I don't know how to make it possible to enter qslide from the apps themselves except for with the video player which is already built in.
would someone mind posting a screenshot of the notification shade from the stock jb? Just wondering what it looks like, if any different at all.

I noticed on the Atrix 4G that the pull down notification menu does not have the controls for WIFI, GPS etc. as on the Captivates with almost any of the Roms.
Does anyone know if there is a way to put them back? It was very convienient having them in one spot.
If I missed this or it was already addressed somewhere else or a simple setting I missed I am sorry.
Thanks all!
the Atrix dropdown is basically Vanilla android. They did not change it. So the Captivate must have a tweaked interface that the Atrix does not.
I know there are a few apps that will add this in ongoing notifications but I always felt these were a battery drain.
The Atrix has the toggle widgets on the last home screen by default.

Widgets to toggle settings like wifi, bluetooth, ect.
Yeah, I moved them to my home screen and BA-A-AM even better
atrix
Get an app from the market place called CONTROL BAR. It works with the Atrix and is excellent for turning everything on & off. Also get LAUNCHER PRO PLUS.
It is a must have and GREAT for Android and for the ATRIX. And read up on how to use it. It disables a lot of the motoblur stuff but that's OK. I have my Launcher Pro configured at 6 colums and 6 rows. You can also configure the size of widgets with Launcher Pro and the screen looks really great on the Atrix. I am going to post a screen shot on XDA shortly.
Sorry to go off topic a bit, but kind of related. Is there a way to keep the bar up top with launcher pro? I'd rather have these options tuck away in that drop down menu/bar (like the OP described) than have the widget.
I am currently using an app called quick settings which is acceptable and works fine. It is another app though. I would just assume have the pull down notification have access to the items that are on the other roms. I am dying to flash a new rom but will patiently wait for the Dev's to make it safe to do so.
I thought someone might have found a setting or something I was missing to acomplish adding the items back to the pull down.....
Coming from phones with smaller screens, I like to be able to drag down the notification bar enough to see who the email is from or what the notification is about, without having to pull it all the way down and back up. With the bigger screen on the EVO LTE, I'm wondering if there is a way to show the notifications starting at the bottom, so I can see them with only a slight pull on the bar, instead of having to drag all the way down.
Anyone know? Don't think it matters, but I'm on Meanrom 1.4 with S-Off.
THANKS
When CM9 or 10 is available to us you can enable tablet mode and it will place your notification bar on the bottom.

You can just flick the notification bar down, you don't have to drag it the full length of the screen. All it takes is about the width of the bar itself to send it down or back up. I know that's not an answer to your question, but it's an option.

Figure I'd bump this rather than start a new thread. I'd also love to be able to have the notification bar at the bottom of the screen, within easy reach of my thumb without requiring me to fumble with the phone. Is there any sort of standalone mod that will do this while I'm waiting for ParanoidAndroid to eventually (hopefully) make its way to the EVO LTE.
There is a WIP paranoid android ROM in the original development section. Works great and loving the ROM.

Well hey look at that! Thanks for the heads up -- I must've completely missed it.
You could also use a custom launcher and set the 1 finger pull-down to open the notification menu. Though trying to reach the settings and clear button are still impossible unless you have fingers like ET.

Yeah - I've already got it so that it pulls down with a quick swipe. My problem is the location of the Power Controls and the Clear button.
I tried PA on my phone but I didn't like the implementation; it's much better on my n7. Even at the biggest settings, the notification panel is just too small on the Evo.
All I really want is a perfect vertical mirror of the notification bar as it is now. In other words, still full screen, it just swipes upward and all the buttons are at the bottom of the screen. I'm actually a little surprised it's not an existing mod / feature, considering how many massive phones there are now and how many of us don't have spindly alien fingers.
Hi,
it seems the new update (4.2.2) is finally coming to my Xperia tablet Z - wifi (SG312).
I'm a bit hesitant to get it.
So can you, users of 4.2.2, summarize the differences and pros/cons versus the 4.1.2 version?
Big thanks in advance.
Laurent.

Quick summary. Although they say 64GB SD support, from what I hear it had that anyway. They probably mean exFAT.

Centered Soft Buttons on bottom.
Notification bar on top instead of bottom.
More like Phone UI instead of a tablet UI.
Small App drawer is there just like in Xperia Z series.
Quick Settings feature from notification panel.
Lock Screen has semi-transparent status bar.
Multi User Account option now available

Thanks. These are the official and "immediately visible" changes.
I'm interested into the other stuff such as performances, battery usage, bug fixes, new bugs, annoying things (it looks like the centered home button is one when using the keyboard)...
I would advise against installing it, unless you have at least 15cm long fingers!
I'll be reverting back to 4.1, because:
* the new soft buttons in the middle of the screen are hard to use in landscape
* notification bar on top wastes room
* notification bar on top is hard to use
* I see no improvements... only the slightly nicer design of the lock screen
They used a design intended for a phone, not a tablet!

This update is a massive improvement in my opinion, particualry the speed. There is no longer and stuttering on the homescreen. When I left a CPU intensive app and went to the recent apps tray on 4.1, there was a 3/4 second lag that has no vanished.
The on screen keyboard now has a 'thumb' option with a reduced size allowing you to float the keyboard around the screen. Very handy indeed.
I've also seen a big improvement with the speaker quality and after moderate use for several hours since the update, battery life seems improved but difficult to tell at this stage.
Video unlimited now sports a dark look over the previous white.
I have some questions regarding wi-fi performance since my was always a bit on the down side.
Notification bar on top is somewhat bad news for me, since I read a lot (moonreader mostly) and I like every space to be availlabe.
Anyway, could you guys enlighten me a bit?
Open moonreade and open a book on it and tell me if the notification bar is dimmed out or if moon reader cover it up?
And what about wifi?
Please answer me this questions because I love to update stuff and 4.2.2 is availlabe now for me and I am ichting to update but wont do it if it is not an improvement as many are reporting...
Thanks in advance!
I need to ask. For all those who opt not to upgrade because of the new layout of the notifications and soft buttons, will you be staying behind when we get 4.3 and onwards? Sony is obviously not bringing back the tablet UI.

I actually intend to update anyway, just want to know if it will bother me a lot or just a little...
And BTW, how can you be so certain that sony won't bring tablet UI back?
And please, open moonreader and tell me what happens to top notification bar?
I confirmed the 4.2.2 upgrade on my SGP312/Japan version fixed the WiFi drops problem, tested on the same router and S4 WiFi hotspot. Tested for over 24 hours now and ran perfect. For the Centered soft keys problem, I installed a small app "Home Anywhere" to place the keys at left screen when portrait. Worth to try, buddies.

I'm not going to bother with this update. The only thing that's important to me is compatability with a 64GB card, and I've been using one successfully ever since I got it. I really don't want to go to a phone UI on a tablet.
I don't think I'll have an issue with the new UI, but does anyone have any screencaptures of it?
They seem to have fixed the Bluetooth/WiFi issue that Sony was so mute about.....
Here are a couple of screen captures for Aid777. Anything in particular you want to see?
Hello,
is anyone tested the MHL with this version ?
thanks

Thanks m8, I can see the home screen icons in the middle there, I don't mind that, are those shortcuts on the top left?
I thought I read someplace here that the drop down menu thingy was on the top left, seems to be the MIDDLE? are screenshots taken with volume buttons now, or is "clip manager" still available?

No worries. They are shortcuts on the top left in a very similar place as 4.1.
Drop down menu is in the middle. Also screen shots can still be taken from the power menu.

I have been on the hunt for a solution to how the LG lockscreen handles notifications. I hate how you cannot just double tap to open the notification like you can on the AOSP lockscreen. After trying damn near everything I could find, I came across Floatify. I remembered using it back in the kitkat days and forgot about it. Seems the dev is still active, even has beta group on G+ with an update yesterday. It can be used with the stock lockscreen, which is something I prefer over replacement lockscreens and handles everything very well, with all sorts of features. The pro-key is 2.50 but with everything available, its easily worth it.

Can you please provide some screen shots for the lock screen and the Floatify working together to see how it looks on the screen? Thanks
I simply "open" the notification by sliding down on it and then pressing it.
All in all takes less than a second. I find that adequate enough and no need to install another app for :good:
I use NEXT lockscreen by Microsoft. Bit dubious at first but its absolutely excellent. Just slide the notification left to dissmiss or right to open it. Best part its absolutely free.
Hello fellow Xiaomi users,
I got my Redmi 5 Plus a few days ago, updated it only via the system update (no custom twerks yet).
Currently I have the stock Android 7.1.2 N2G47H and the stock MIUI 9.6.2.0 NEGMIFD.
I have a couple of questions about the phone and I would really appreciate your help:
1) Will this phone get an official Oreo update? I've read that there should be one, but couldn't find any official date mentioned.
2) Stock launcher - I noticed that I couldn't remove app icons from the stock launcher. Is there a way to do that, and customize it all together?
3) Nova launcher - Since I couldn't remove unneeded app icons from the stock launcher, I installed Nova. An issue I find with it though, is that I no longer get skype notification sound - only vibration. Also sometimes messenger fails to make a sound as well, but that happens fairly rare. Any idea on a fix for this? Or maybe recommend a better launcher, that works with the phone?
4)Viber - I am using dual SIMs. One personal, and one for work. I activated only my work viber, but as soon as I started using it, it transferred all my contacts in it. So now my personal and work contacts got mixed. Wouldn't be an issue, If I didn't use viber on my work PC, and I would rather my personal chats to not be there. Any suggestion on how to separate my contacts? Anyone else had this issue?
5) Alarm sound - I am not sure if this happened after I switched to Nova, but my alarm sound is really low. The phones speakers are quite good, but when it comes to the alarm its quite low. I can barely hear it and wake up
6) Freezing - Sometimes when I type in let's say messenger, the phone freezes for some reason, until I type the next letter. For example if I try to type the word "submarine", I can type "subma" but it will freeze on "subm", and when I type the next letter (r) it will spit out both of the last written letters "submar" and then continue to work normally. What can cause those freezes?
I would really love to hear your opinion on these points.
Thanks in advance guys
1) For sure, in the main miui site is indicated and if is there is a closed beta available then we can expect an official version.
2) Remove the icons from stock launcher will mean uninstall them, you can only move them to the next display and maybe group them.
3) Check if all permissions are granted for this launcher including device control and accesibility, also enable in Nova persistent notifications. I use stock launcher, I put my preferred apps in main desktop, the others just moved them to the right and using the app "My Drawer" from developer Ofir Miron, it´s the only that I found that keeps the same icon from any theme that I pick, the others look very ugly.
I´m rarely use the other points so I don´t know

Thank you for the reply, I guess I will wait for the update for now, and experiment some more with Nova.
One more thing that came to mind - any way to use the proximity sensor to stop the phone for ringing or to answer calls? I had this options on other android phones - when the phone rings, and you bring your phone close to something (like your year) it picks up. Or when you flip it face down it stops the ringing. Any of these options available?? Can't find them so far.
