have had this issue for awhile now. When running sense based roms people can only hear me during calls if i put my phone on speaker mode. otherwise they say i sounds like i am super far away or they can't hear me at all. when running CM10 people cannot hear me whether my phone is on speaker or not.
has anyone heard of this or have any idea how to possibly fix this issue?

I've just got a quick question to see if anyone else has experienced this or if anyone's got any suggestions on what to try.
I've recently noticed bad sound quality on my Hero's ear piece. When people talk it sounds somewhat distorted. Everyone says they can hear me fine, but when they talk it sounds off to me. I've been playing with Villian Rom since's he's been releasing it, but I don't think it's a rom issue because I've gone back to an earlier ROM and same thing. I've also tried the radio before the current one to see and still the same thing. Any suggestions? maybe try and even earlier radio? or could that damage my phone in any way.

That´s not much information in order to be able to give you a helpful hint.
The sound quality of how you are heard by others often depends on the radio ROM, lots of users try different ones.
But, if you are new to flashing etc., you might feel uncomfortable with this solution.
I tried several radio roms, but it doesnt work. The problem is when i call someone then he hears me like i am far away the phone. So the problem is on mine phone. What Radio version should i try?

Have u tried calling using a headset ? If it works fine with the headset then it might be the mic or just check the mic hole there might be something stuck.
So, I got a problem with my mic while calling. I can hear the person on the other end of the line but he doesn't hear me. He only hears me if I put the phone on speaker or I plug in a headset. It's really annoying. The phone is a I9100T running on Jellybam with Dorinmax 7.39 Kernel. I have tried flashing different ROMS and kernels. This issue is still there. Help please.
So...you can hear them, they can't hear you. How about voice searching/commands. Does that work?

When on a call, I keep getting this annoying sound kind of like static sounding something like "pukk" ( hope someone got me). It comes just for a second. Nowadays its been happening more than 10 times on a call. Its really getting annoying.
The worst part is this sound comes only when on a call and sadly its not the phone speaker problem since I get it on my earphones too.
This is happening on Stock and ViperOne ROM and the handset is AT&T version which I have been using in India.
Can anybody help me in getting rid of this irritating sound while on a call??

If anybody is facing this problem please try putting another sim card of the same network and of a different network.
This solved my issue, my Sim card was not cut properly hence the disturbance.. Let me know if its d same case with you.
The mic doesn't work.
I can hear people but they cant hear me, only some strange sounds, sometimes for a few seconds I can hear myself hardly
I bought a new charging port flex so i hoped a new mic (because the mic itself is there, isn't it?) will help but didn't work.
Now what should I buy? Which spare part? What is the problem anyway? I think it's a micontact because when I do voide record in a quiet room I hear some strange sounds. If yes, what can I do?
Or is it something with the software?

Which ROM ate you using? I've had that happen on and off with a few of the aosp ROMs

Okay this is definitely not a solution but i had the same problem and
Even after the replacements it didnt work out. Ultimately i had to use a bluetooth while calling and after a week when i tested it without the bluetooth..viola it was working. So yes this not a solution but given that i also went through the same situation i wanted to share the experience. I know the strange voices. Irritating :laugh:
