phone keeps locking up - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

A week ago my phone started acting weird by not being able to unlock the screen, I would have to power off and start up again. Then I could not receive texts and called att who said he would reregister my phone and then I would get all my texts. That worked but my phone is still getting locked up sometimes when I try to make a call it will turn black and do nothing. And the screen will not unlock other times. I am have to shut it down and reboot almost every day. Any Ideas how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Have you installed/flashed anything lately?
Perhaps make a complete backup of your phone logs and SMS, then do a wipe/factory reset. Then install your apps from the market, and restore SMS and call logs.

Occasional No Dial Out/SMS Sending

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of help/advice.
On occasions, probably between 1-3 times a day, when I try to make a call on the Hero, the call appears to look like it is dialing out but it just sits there saying 'dialing' but never connects to the destination which can be any UK number / Orange 150 etc. Either rebooting the phone or leaving it for 10 mins or so fixes the problem, but it does become annoying!
At the same time as this happening, when I try to send an SMS, I get the error 'SMS not able to send' in the notification bar. Again, I have to keep trying and it sorts itself out.
A final problem and I am not sure if it is related or not is I have had numerous people try calling me at various times, my phone doesn't ring or display a missed call, nor do I get a missed call SMS but the person who tried calling me said the line was actually ringing first and then went through to voicemail. I have witnessed this myself by calling my phone, getting a ringing line but the phone doesn't respond?
Any ideas of help would be appreciated. This problem has existed on Modaco Roms 2.2, 2.8 and 3.0 - I'm on Orange UK.
Thanks,
Nick
I have the same problem with the Orange Poland. When I logged on to the 3G sometimes you can not call or send SMS. When I switch to the 2G network problem disappears.
Yeah, it is strange, I have done that too, turn off the 3G to 2G and back to 3G which sometimes cures it, but not all the time.
I've tried various things, made sure the apps aren't closed with Taskkiller or anything like that. There is no specific time or occasion it happens, it just does now and again.
Well I have tried everything. I recieved all the settings from my operator , changed over 10 ROMs and gone back to the original too, i tried what you said to turn 3G off , i reset to factory , i unrooted.....Nothing works for me. I just get "Unable to send". I also tried 4 SIMs from different operators !!!

Can't make or receive calls

Having a really weird problem.
Every time I try to make a call, the call timer starts and gets to 5 seconds before saying call ended and I get a "beep" from the phone. No dial tone or anything. Then if I call my phone number it tells me that the call can't be completed.
I have pulled the battery and sim card. I even thought it might be related to the boot looping issue. So I was going to try and see what mode the phone was in. But I can't get the *#*#4636#*#* number to work. I dial it and nothing happens.
I did confirm that I could still connect to the mobile network and was still receiving data.
Also I might add I just did the ICS OTA update a couple days ago. After that I went through the process of unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone. Haven't flashed a rom or anything. And the phone worked fine for a couple days, and boom now I can't make calls. I did uninstall updates and disable both the blockbuster and nfl mobile app.
Anyone have any possible advice?
Ok apparently Verizon is having problems in Columbia.
This thread can be deleted by the mods if necessary.
you can get into the 4636 hidden menu by using the HZutils app.

Can't place any calls or recieve sms anymore

Hi!
My phone is running
Android v. 4.0.4
I9300XXLH1
Everything is stock, i haven't changed anything.
I recieved an update this morning, after restart i couldn't either recieve or make any calls or sms at all at first.
I then removed the battery and waited for approx. 10min, when i turned on my phone i recieved one sms before the phone stopped working.
When i press the callbutton it turns orange without even trying to call out.
Internet works just fine.
Im thinking it has to be software related since i actually could recieve one sms. Does anyone know why the phone is acting like this?
Edit:
Whenever i turn off/on the phone i can call and send sms for a short while.

After a conversation with my carrier it turns out it was something on their end. They rebooted my simcard and after that everything works fine.

Wifi calling enabled, but not working at all

I'm using a ZTE ZMAX Pro on MetroPCS, and on top of other issues, the wifi calling is being a pain. The phone shows that it's enabled just fine, but when I try to send a text, it immediately tells me it failed. Calls don't even go through. I've tried several reboots, and obviously nothing came of it. I'm just stunned that there's no error messages, no "unable to connect," just the icon in the notification bar that says it's working. Any ideas are appreciated.
Have you registered with the e911 service?
In my experience, I turn off my data coz I am odd like that and that's when I found out I need my data on to receive text. I can send text with data off though. And actually my wifi calling on my phone REALLY works. Unlike on my samsung on5 it always have error messages so I just turn it off.
IF your phone is brand new when you bought it and did not mess with it. Although as far as I have searched there is no root on this phone yet. Then just factory reset. I factory reset mine no problem. Just remember to remove ANY account (especially google) first, before you reset to be VERY safe.

Always have '1 New Voicemail' notification - Can I freeze Phone Services?

So after installing TWRP and flashing a ROM on my phone back in December, I constantly have a notification on my phone from Phone Services telling me I have one new voicemail when my inbox is empty. What's annoying is that it randomly 'refreshes' making the notification noise, so I am forced to keep it on vibrate otherwise I have to listen to that notification going off all day long. I have lived with it for the past 3 months, but have recently realized when I do get voicemails, it never updates the number it always just says one voicemail. It's really frustrating too b/c I live in a rural area where I sometimes don't have reception and if I get a call it never shows up and if they leave a voicemail I'm not notified unless I actually check it.
I have tried clearing data and cache as well as force stopping in the settings and it will automatically come back within a few minutes. I have set the Phone Services notifications to 'Don't show notifications at all', but it completely ignores it. I have tried switching to Google Voice from Sprint Voicemail and it still appears. I tried switching back to Sprint Voicemail and it's still there. I have flashed new builds of the ROM multiple times and it still shows up, usually about an hour or two after flashing. The only thing I haven't done at this point is use the LGFlashTool to completely vert back to factory which I'm avoiding because of the time/effort and the lingering feeling it still won't fix it.
Before going thru that, I was wondering if I could potentially freeze Phone Services with Ice Box and migrate to use Google Voice for voicemail. Does anyone know if this is ok or will it brick my phone?
Any input is appreciate!
UPDATE: On Wednesday I had a random reboot while using my phone and after booting back up I no longer saw the notificiation. It's been several days since then, booth rebooting the phone and using voicemail and still have not got the notification back. Only thing I have noticed is that it no longer gives a notification at all if I get a voicemail, but since I get a text alert I'm not too concerned.
Unfortunately, if somebody else encounters this same issue it's not much help on why it occurred or how to fix it....
