Hi all,
I was just roaming around the forums and couldn't find an answer in another thread (if you've seen it before though a link to that thread would be wonderful).
I'm curious as to whether or not the phones (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S3 etc.) sold through Net10 via Quality 1 Wireless are unlocked when they are sold or if they are locked to Net10 and require unlocking. If they are locked my other question is whether or not they are as locked down as say the ones you buy in the store in packaging and if Net10 will unlock them after a certain amount of time for you.
Thanks in advance!
I don't know the answer to your question, but couldn't you ask net10 themselves?

A, total bs, you really did not think of the fact that a phone from the states would not work in canada? Bull**** you just want someone to get the unlock code for you because you bought the phone not knowing it would not work and are screwed now.
Yes i know stupid mistaek
I bought the american version because the canadian version could not work on my carrier Mobilicity. Most mobilicity phones come unlocked and i thought that because they used the same frequencies that T mobile would too. Yes i know stupid mistake should have done it in america. And it's not stolen

Seriously you two should NOT give answers if you do not know wtf you are talking about. ALL t-mobile Vibrants are sim locked ie you cannot use it in any other country (ie with other carriers, even tmobile outside the US) but the united states and even here you cannot use it with any other carrier except t-mobile. I am about to call tmobile and have mine unlocked too so I can use it in Canada and Europe.
I usually buy t-mobile sim cards in Europe but I need my phone unlocked to be able to do that. But I will admit, since the Vibrant is pretty much the same as all the other Galaxy S phones, I also thought it could be used everywhere Tmobile was available (sans the simlock).
To the OP, go to Ebay if tmobile cannot help you, there are many companies that will unlock your phone for you for a fee. Or you can use the unlock generator from this site (but there have been mixed results with that). But even with the phone unlocked, does not mean it will get all the ranges oversees as it does here. Tmobile uses different Hz oversees than they do in the states so you may not get 3G (not sure, just using my experiences from other phones), so you may wanna check on that before going through all the effort of unlocking etc etc. You may be better off with a i9000 in Canada if thats your primary residence.

Thanks for the help o will look into both those methods you stated
go to Market, and look for SGS Unlock, if the free version can not generate the unlock code, go for the Pro version.. or you could do it yourself for free by following instructions here:

Maybe he didn't know? Maybe he forgot? Don't call people stupid for THINGS everyone does wrong everyday.
Well,
Sort of a noob question, but since I dont know how easy or hard could it be.
If I buy a SGS-II with a service plan in UK (Orange, Voda etc), then can it be unlocked to be used in other countries or other operators.
I know maybe it has got something to do with the gaining the root access to the handset or even a root access achieve the desired.
Thanks for suggestions.

It's got nothing to do with root and everything to do with the carrier, some will deliver locked phones, some unlocked.. most usually contract phones are unlocked and PAYG phones are locked
I'm on O2 contract and the phones I've had have always been unlocked, but I've heard Orange do network lock their phone
Orange do always lock their phones but if you get it from an independent seller like the Carphone Warehouse or Phones4u the chances are it'll be unlocked.
Most networks will unlock your phone for a small fee (I think I paid £25 on Orange) but it's only a matter of time before sellers on eBay popup that will sell you an unlock code based on your IMEI.
You're right that you could unlock handsets with root access but that involved flashing another radio. Since no locked SGS2's have been released yet you're safe buying now and the phone hasn't been rooted so you may be waiting a while for that option if you get a locked handset in the future.
You could always use a Rebel SimCard. Its not the perfect solution but it works.
So we just have to wait basically. O2 are offering it for 399£ apparently on payg. It would be awesome to get it for that price and then unlock it.

Last year, o2 were selling the SGS1 on PAYG. I think the handsets were supposed to be locked but they weren't. If you're in luck then maybe same is true for SGS2. I've pulled the trigger on the SGS2 with contract from o2 as total cost works out cheaper that any PAYG or sim free offer currently available.

Does orange still exist over there?
Three took over Orange over here in Australia years ago
On three if you call them up they give you the unlock code for free
I asked a popular online unlocking firm what the likelihood of the SGS2 being unlocked was and this was his reply:
Hi Aaron,
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

Are you going to use them to unlock? When can they do it? & who are they?

I will ask them to unlock if my SGS2 arrives locked. I found them doing a quick google search. I am not sure I am allowed to post links so mods please remove if that is the case. http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/
There are many more if you do a google search.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I searched and searched and didn't find anything. My apologies if this is a repeated question.
Is there any, ANY way at all to get a Mega on Verizon (not the prepaid just a regular Verizon business account) I have to keep Verizon for work, otherwise I'd switch just to have the Mega. If there is a way (flashing, unlocking, international versions) what if any limitations will the phone then have.
I assume since I couldn't find one Mega working on Verizon on eBay there probably isn't a way to do it without doing some kind of illegal ESN cloning or something else that isn't worth it.
I don't know if Verizon will do it, but because the Mega uses a SIM card, most companies will interchange them. You may be able to get a Verizon SIM and it work, you could always ask Verizon if you could brig a phone from another cell company.

I will ask you how it's possible Mega on Verizon?
Hi,
I am going to go to brazil & Argentina in about a month and I'd like to use my Sprint Galaxy note 3 (SM-N900P) so I can use a local sim card over there. is that even possible with a CDMA phone? Do I need to root the phone to do it? What's my best option?
so far I only saw articles about unlocking to US carriers.
thank you!
Just call sprint so they can unlock it for international sim cards.

I've been searching through the Sprint Note 3 forums for the last 3-4 weeks and haven't found anything that can do this.
This exact question has been asked in various Q&A and General forums in the past month. OP should have posted in those instead of creating a new thread.
Regardless, in all of those threads no one has offered up anything other than calling Sprint. For the time being, it's the only "solution."
Edit: Having multiple threads for the same questions makes it difficult to find the information you're looking for. If we have one Q&A thread that has this question answered it's much easier to find that information when looking for it. If I have to open up 4 or 5 different threads just to find the one that has the answer, it's annoying. Yes, there are people like me who will do the dirty work of linking the other threads, but still, you have to look through a ton of threads to find the answer. It's much better (and easier) to "bump" an existing thread with something like the following:
Hey all,
I have the exact same question as the OP. Is there a way to unlock the phone for international use? I know that a month ago the only way was to call Sprint. Has that changed in the last month?
Regards,
Topher

Replying to an existing thread with "bump" doesn't really add anything to the discussion and is annoying. Doing what I suggested will let others know that you actually read the original thread and understood what they said. Creating a new thread will make people like me assume that you didn't search and just want an "easy" answer. There are even those who will actively antagonize people who do this (i.e. trolls). Don't give the trolls food (by creating new posts to already asked questions) and they won't come out and troll.
Although complex and not available to people on contract, Can this be a solution???
1. Using the Sim Unlocking method for U.S carriers - Unlock your sim to another carrier ( I am thinking of trying t-mobile because of their free international data roaming).
2. switch to that carrier and port your number using your Sprint note 3.
3. have your new carrier unlock sim card.
4. optional : Switch back to Sprint.
What do you think?
Put a T-Mobile Sim card in and it says invalid Sim ... Sprint has to unlock ... no way around it

help me! i instal custom rom but SSU still FC
I'm not intending to retread old ground on this, but I am in a bit of a bind (and also, a newbie to this forum, so if there is a better place to post, please let me know).
I recently bought a Padfone X off of Ebay. Unfortunately, it is locked to AT&T.
From what I understand, the only way to unlock the device is via the AT&T Device Unlock page.
A friend of mine (who is on AT&T) offered to help, but after talking with customer support, it turns out that the phone is also unactivated.
It sounds like I can get the phone unlocked if I can get it activated. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and the nearest AT&T store is upwards of a three hour drive across the border.
Is there a way I can get my phone activated (and hopefully, unlocked) without visiting an AT&T store?
(Alternatively, and this is retreading ground, is there a way I can unlock the phone so that I can activate it with another carrier?)

I don't think so. It doesn't list the Padfone X as a device (nor does it list it by its model, T00D).
Looking into MasterUnlockCode.com at the moment as its the only organization that seems to be able to.
Problem solved. Had to have a friend with AT&T and make a stink on twitter to get the ball rolling.
Sounds like the only way to get the phone unlocked it AT&T. The activation issue was a red herring.
Sorry to necropost... I see eBay vendors now who list Padfone X as a model they can give unlock codes for. Are they lying or has it just gotten easier to unlock AT&T devices?
