Battery discharge in 3 hours - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's odd,
this is my fourth streak i have config and it discharge at a very fast rate, doing nothing in standby even without SIM card. It happens since the original 1.6 stock rom and with the DSC 2.3. It is clean and factory reset, so nothing is installed.
I test an alternative new battery 1800 mAh, and the same results.
¿Any ideas fellows?
Thanks ind advance

Recent similar case was in faulty motherboard.

OMG, thanks for your reply nOp...i guess i'm screwed.
Best Regards.

have you tried doing battery calibration? if not, you can try that...

tried that cleaning @ streakmod the caches and battery status.
Or do you mean with the Mugen Software?
Best Regards.

try using battery calibration from play and follow the instruction..
basically...
charge to 100%, calibrate, drain until shutdown, charge (without turning on) to 100% non stop...

Well time as passed I found my streak again so shiny and new and want so bad to work properly...and that battery problem. The most strange thing is that it drains fast even when it's turn off...How can it be possible?, The faulty motherboard thing is starting to make some sence, maybe I dismantle the whole thing if it helps.
Best regards to all

nah. i think you just need to replace the battery. make sure it is original battery, not oem one.

I think you meant to say "not an aftermarket one" at the end of your comment. The original battery by Dell IS the OEM battery, as OEM is an abbreviation of "Original Equipment Manufacturer".

i should say original not local compatible one ...

Well, at first I try with the original one, then I try a new alternative battery and the same problem. When the streak is off (turn off), it's get a little hot, thats the strange thing, like some component is using the battery or electrical bridge working as a resistance.
Definiely i'm going to tear it and assembly it again.

Try to calibrate the mAH (battery capacity)..
You can try with this application..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.NanoDinamics.NovaTester
It took hours, but the result is close enough with what labelled as its capacity (mAH).

Oops sorry,
I didn't read that you have try with a new battery and the problem still occurs.
Or maybe you can use battery monitor application to find out probably there were some app that draining your battery..

forgot to mention i'm running [Rom]Wanam v3.2 at that time, currently on v3.4, the dark extended areas is me at work where i turn airplane mode on due to serious bad reception at work... sync is on rest of the time for gmail/whatsapp/kakao other than that manual updates on twit and some news apps...
u can see the first jump in the first pic, that was due to me exchanging with 1st spare battery( got 4 + original batt= total of 5)
i dont know if its the phone and exchanging batteries thats causing such high battery losses at the end of the battery life...
plus yesterday and the day before battery goes crazy when it reaches 30-20% and when i go for a restart to freshen things up... the phone wont switch on thinking the battery is totally dead... i put in the new battery and its @ 100% ... switch back to the old battery to see where the 30-20% went... it wont start...
now im thinking... keeping 1 battery in the phone with a charge from 0-100% actually takes the phone all the way to 0% but exchanging the battery wont...
how am i supposed to use the full potential of the batteries...

been using this app since my old sgs, it sure works and have been using it ever since...
tho in the [Rom]Wanam ... install procedure says that its backing up the battery stats and this lead me to think that a batt calibration is not needed... or am i wrong to think so?
If you change batteries, all previous data will be irrelevant, and you need to calibrate each time. You can do things manually by installing battery monitor widget, charge to 100% AND until the mA reaches zero (Voltage spills be approx 4200mV). At this point, quickly delete battery stats (menu / stats /) and immediately unplug.
https://market.android.com/details?id=ccc71.bmw
Top help with monitoring, You can config the update rate and widget content so it shows mA, %, mV. Also have alarm when stops charging (if configured).
There is also an option for calibration, but I only use this method when done above first. Never discharge to zero, 1% min.

Thing is, what's the use of having spare batteries if this will happen on each battery swap and having to go thru calibration means having a charger nearby...
and by 0% i didnt actually mean 0 but till that 1% turned the phone off
if what u said is true, then i guess i need some kind of script to help and keep the batt data even after swapping.. based on 1 good calibrated file swapping batteries should start from a certain point even if the batteries do lose some of their charge but continue to moniter things as they were... i dunno if what i said makes sense... correct me if i'm wrong
Not really 100% sure, but sure I have not always calibrated after a battery swap in the dhd..The previous battery was calibrated and performing well, and the replacement would have been very close to 100% charge. I didn't notice any irregularities in the battery data, or battery drain.
So I suppose a good bat stats file should help the phone showing relatively "accurate" data after a battery swap, if they're both "conditioned" (gone through a number of charging cycles, not straight out of thre box)
Maybe I could be wrong, but based on past experience.

Have you tried different radios/modems for better reception? if your phone is struggling to get decent reception its going to use your battery.
You could try changing to 2G only in wireless settings. used to help me alot.

Strange battery problem help plz

My phone drains the battery very quickly from 100% to 1% but after reaching 1% it can be used for hours.Last time after the full charge battery dropped from 100-1% in about 2 1/2 hours of use on WiFi but after that it lasted for more than 13 hours on 1% but the Network data, Bluetooth and WiFi was off.
Currently i am running CM7 stable (battery fix is also applied) i was also facing such issues on the stock 2.3.4.
maybe a battery re-calibration can solve this issue?

I bought my Atrix 3 weeks ago. My previous device was also another Motorola, Milestone.
When I first started to use Atrix I found that the battery was draining so quickly even I didn’t install any apps yet. It was becoming 1% in 70 minutes with full display and running default apps.
I tried to full battery several times, did factory resets and finally went back to shop. The shop replaced the battery with another new one.
Still it happened same problem. Then they changed my device with another new one. It was same, too.
I would give it back to shop but last time I decided to discharge it until it turns off.
At this point I found that discharging takes long time after it became 1%. For example by heavy using it becomes 1% in 70 minutes, then it takes at least 200 minutes more even I watch videos via Youtube, play games etc.. It means in total it takes at least 4,5 hours with full display and heavy usage. That’s OK for me as battery life.
But I want my battery meter show correct percentage. Then I can be able to know when it will turn off.
I tried battery calibration several times. I search a lot about this problem but found nothing. Probably people thinks that their battery life is too short.
So cannot find solution.
Summary: My Atrix’s battery meter immediately drop to 1% and then runs 3 times longer than previous 99%. PLEASE HELP ME TO CORRECT MY BATTERY METER DISPLAY.
Do you think that your battery fix way helps me?

I don't know. I bought it, and unlocked it directly, then flash CM7 Rom, but noticed that the battery drain very fast. However, after the indicator becomes 1%, I can still use rather a long time. I thought it was an error on battery meter, but I can't make it display correctly through calibration.
Now if the battery is fully charged, I can still use rather a long time after the indicator becomes 1%. But after the battery drained, it can't be charged completely. It really disappoints me very much.

Ya that's the same problem i have i think its something to do with phone recognizing the mah capacity of the battery if u can see the charge-full-design in sys/class/power-supply/battery/charge-full-design u will notice it showing only 500 which should be 1880 that's why our phone drops and charge quickly according the capacity its getting from charge-full-design.
This value can be changed on other phone but for Motorola i have not found any tutorial or app to do so

And for charging don't take off the phone from charging on 100% bcoz when the phone battery meter is showing 100% its battery mv is less than 3900mv and if u keep it on charge after 100% battery mv value will gradually go up to 4200mv which is the actual capacity of the battery.

Oh, thanks. The value in sys/class/power-supply/battery/charge-full-design is just a result, representing the battery statue. So the key is that the battery capacity can't be recognized correctly by the phone. I just test another battery, and the value 1880!
But the former battery doesn't look like a fake one. Actually, I bought them together. I can't understand.

Shutting down at 45% charge

My phone keep shutting down when charged at 45%.
It refuses to start up again (or just starts up and then shuts down).
I have Googled it and so many answers come up.
Should I just "splash out" on a new battery or is it something more serious?
I have had the phone for just under 18 months.
It gets heavily used because it is for development too. So it is plugged in to my computer a very large amount of the time.
I noticed that someone mentioned about it getting hot.
How hot is hot? Mine does get warm a bit.
I have it in a leather case that is open on the sides but closed front and back and I am wondering whether it could have overheated and caused damage.
Looks like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41DdBaqlfLL.jpg
A bit warm is not hot..does it charge to 100% after you reboot and continue charging?you could try calibrating your battery with some calibration app
Send from beneath my cloak of magic
I think that problem is in battery overheating. Somethimes when battery is hotter than 50 C ur phone just freeze itself and do a reboot. Try to play some hd games when u charging ur phone and ur phone will probably do a reboot. Is it overclocked?

Yeah. It seems to have no problem charging up again.
I installed DX Toolbox. It has a battery-charge screen. You can follow the charge process as it move from fast-charge -> cycle-charge -> trickle-charge.
Shows it is ok and fully charged and it still tends to shutdown when it reaches 45% or so.
I have been charging mostly from my computer since it is connected there most of the day. Also, I lost my original charger. I do have another non-SE charger (Samsung) at work that I use sometimes. It charges with no problems.
However, the problems started long before I used the other charger.

I'll keep an eye on the temp to see if it is getting to 50 C.
My clock is not overclocked and I am using the stock ROM 2.3.3.
I would be ok moving to another ROM if that would solve the problem - although I would probably lose my Hebrew.
I should add the fact that it doesn't always happen.
For example, I am not at 33% and still "alive".
Will probably die if I start Angry Birds.
LOL - Shoulda shut up.
Just after I typed this it shut down. Without anything extra running.
Try another kernel, like zKernel for stock 2.3.3 (locked bl).

Well I guess my one is just an extremely good quality copy then. It came in retail packaging, the hologram sticker thing looked perfect, it looks just like original BST-41 but says Li-Ion instead of Li-Polymer. It was $40 on eBay Australia.
I thought it might be a copy (not genuine) but it works VERY well. So I'm happy either way. It was listed as "*Genuine* Replacement Battery for Sony Ericsson X1 (BST-41)" or something.

I checked Fast Recharge app while updating some Market apps for the past ten minutes and it said 27 degrees C. I don't know how hot it gets while charging, I'll check tonight if you want. It also says the battery type is a Li-Poly, so I don't really know if it is a Li-Ion - it just says so.
The original seller of the battery doesn't have the item listed anymore and google cache won't show the original eBay page either I have spent the past ten minutes trying to find a "genuine-looking" BST-41 but they all say Li-Polymer. This is really weird. I have searched for all the numbers and still found nothing on any site in any country.
OK, I've found one close match but it's alibaba (wholesale from china) so you probably can't get it unless you're willing to buy a batch =\
http://wincent-do.en.alibaba.com/pr...BST_41_li_ion_polymer_1500_mAh_wholesale.html
I found it by googling for (with the double quotes intact):
"BST-41" Genuine "Li-Ion" Retail
...maybe you will have better luck. I noticed the Xperia Play also uses the BST-41.
Sorry I can't help more. I compared my battery to the Fake Vs. Pro thread here with the nice high-res photo's, and this Li-Ion has a perfect hologram. Anyway, I have added photo's of the battery in that thread - see my post here.

Xperia P battery problem

Hi,
I feel that my battery is going bad after about 8 months of usage. I'm not sure if i still have the warranty (it was bought in different country).
I changed to fully stock rom but it's the same.
It get's fully drained in about 8-10h. Light usage. Even with all the stamina mode/low brightness etc...
The worst thing is that when it's down to about 30% or less, it starts acting up. The % would drop to 0% and the phone would turn off, then after i would turn on the phone again, i would see 70%, then 22%, then 30% again, something like that. After that it might "hold" and work for a few more hours or it might just keep on turning itself OFF.
What the hell is wrong with it...?

Maybe it's not the battery just the stats? How long do you charge it?
hi, thanks for your answer
i charge the phone overnight and in the evenings

For Less battery, go for Custom ROMs
I don't find this kind of drain now.. I felt it in my previous ICS. Now am in Enigma 6.1. This ROM has some mod, which will makes the phone enter in to deep sleep mode after 5 minutes. This makes it more battery friendly....
MoonBreaker v3.5 also a good choice.
sorry guys, i forgot to post my results, i will try to get that info by tomorrow
Anyway, i found this on ebay and i'm thinking on giving it a try. Do you recommend i buy somewhere else? Is there a more quality product out there?
I also found a dissasembly video on youtube how to get to the battery and it doesn't seem that hard + the battery on ebay comes with all the needed screws which is nice.
I have tried 5+ roms and none of them changed anything.
But something troubles me...i spoke with a guy from the Sony repair shop and he says that it's not necessarily the battery, it might also be a problem with the motherboard.
I do not have the warranty anymore so motherboard would be the worst option. Phone works normally though...
I hope some results from the mentioned apps might shed some light on this.
HI
Why dont you try DU Battery App , it will help you to charge it fully. What i observed is that even though the battery status will show as 100 % but when you check Setting --> About phone --> Status --> Battery status it will still be showing charging & if i keep it plugged in for another hour or so it turns to battery status --> Full. So using this App DU Battery you will be able to actually fully charge the battery . Also if you try a custom rom with custom kernel like nemesis 6.3 you will be able to change the cpu govorner settings and can save more battery.
thanks, i'll check it out
i have locked BL so no possibility for custom kernel

[Q] Phone just turn off when it reaches 40%

Hi guys,

Before I was using 2000mAh battery but it bloat out so I bought a new 1650mAh battery. The problem is that it just turned off when it reaches 40% without even prompting a low batt notification. I thought I bought a defective battery so I purchased a new one again, but it has the same problem. I was using custom roms btw and flashing CM11 nightlies every day or whenever update pops. Does it affects this or should I just recalibrate the device because my old 2000mAh.

Did you check the battery voltage level just before 40%? If I understand correclty, my guess is that the battery should range from 4.1 to 3.3volts, as it has been specified as 3.7v.
In my case, it was around 3.6 volts when close to 40%, which seems to be a reasonable voltage for 40%. But then it suddenly drops to 3.2v (which I measured with a multimeter, since the phone goes dead at around 40%). I have started to beleive the battery is the problem.

Battery voltage can be measured using apps like cpu-z and go to the battery section. Software readings are slightly less accurate than multimeter but does the job anyway. 3700mV = 3.7V (conversion of mV to V)
