Its been awhile since I have browsed the sgs2 forums and I stop in and notice ics is all over here. So I'm thinking of upgrading my girls s2 to 4.0 and I want opinions and stability and function of the current roms.
I'm leaning towards aokp or cm9. I have cm9 on my note and a500 so I'm fond of it obviously.
Coming from gb rooted w/ cwm full wipe and good to go I assume? I ask because in the n7k forum the leaked kernals suck and there were all these stupid methods for going from gb to ics...
Anyway thanks.

Yup full wipe. I am not running either of those ROM's so cant comment on them. I have been following Task's AOKP thread. That may be the next one I try.
If you'd like to try a Samsung based rom, give ShoStock2 a try. It's the best I've ever tried.

Ultimatum and SHOstock are excellent. AOKP is pretty sweet too.

ICS is well worth the upgrade
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. Haven't had any issues.

I've been running aokp for a few weeks and love it so far. It has been pretty stable and fast as hell. I'm sure things are even better in the latest build, but I haven't flashed yet.
Its like when GB became available and everyone was still on Froyo- once you open the desert and have a taste, your likely not gonna go back. And now that video recording is fixed- its all gravy baby
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Definitely go with AOKP, it's stable, fast, full of features, and rocks great battery life.
The only benefit of the Samsung ICS is MHL.

If MHL is a must, i think you're stuck with TW for now. My final choice was between aokp and cm9. Check the support/discussion threads, big difference...
No need for MHL I just want a stable ics rom for her because her miui rom is buggy as heck.
Thanks guys ill keep watching the dev section. For me aokp and cm9 are really similar so it just comes down to battery life and stability which is different for each person.

Aokp all the way baby, super stable and awesome battery. Way better than gb

I've been using shoshock lastest gingerbread build. it's great. I'm waiting for a while.
Running AOKP and it's running great.
Just flash Siyah's kernel and go for dual boot to check both Samsung and AOKP/CM9 roms together.
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. My phone feels brand new and I don't feel like upgrade it, except I want LTE.
Thanks everyone. I flashed aokp for the extra settings and customization. Its been super stable so far and battery is good but will be better once it settles. Might try siyah might not???
Anyone recommend a Better modem? Have you been getting batter with gb ones or ics ones.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I'd go with CM9 nightlies simply because it's supported by ROM Manager which makes it ridiculously easy to flash new updates, which come very fast by the way...plus it's CM9. Good luck.
Cm9 is nice I use it on my tablet and note but lacks some features I know my girl requires.

I tested the latest LD3 but decided to change back to LC5, it is faster than the old modems and seems more stable in my area. I have been running AOKP for a while and love it.
I am enjoying CM9. Lots of Entropy involvement. Good team working on it.

Hi. first of all I just want to say that I'm a big admirer of XDA forums I've been following the forums for quite some time on various phones but I'm not very active in posts / replies due to my inexperience.
I'm sick of AT&T taking forever to give us ICS and I'm not willing to wait just to get a whole bunch of bloatware and the same old touchwiz. I've come across two good roms: Onlyone and Objection. I'm kind of leaning towards Objection because It's giving me two UI options: Android 4 and the new Touchwiz, but from the replies I got the impression that Onlyone is more stable. Are there any ROMS that use the official ICS code released by Samsung or not yet?
Here are my main concerns: battery life, ROM stability and speed, and of course the good additions like updated touchwiz, S-voice, etc.
Try them all and see which you like best. Nobody can tell you which is best, because that is purely opinion based. There aren't that many, so just learn how to use titanium backup so switching between roms doesn't take too long.

Are you running tablet or phone mode?
If you prefer the unmodified, pure Android experience that you would get on a Nexus device, you can come close with a CyanogenMod based ROM. These are my personal favorites as they are practically bloat-free and don't have any carrier/manufacturer customizations. The downside on the Note is that there is no S-Note/S-Memo. Hopefully the CM devs will get these apps to work eventually, but the S-Pen does work.
If you like the TouchWiz interface then try one of the TW/ICS leak based ROMs such as OnlyOne. That was the first ICS ROM I tried and I liked it, but overall I prefer CM9.
you can try those ROMs from this guy - flappjaxxx. They are the unofficial CM9 ROM and UCLE2 stock-base ROM. They are really solid, stable, daily drivers and supported well by the awesome developer. These roms get very good comments from XDA-users.
I've tried every single rom.
for CM9- I'd use Mesosphere the rest were pretty unstable.
For Ucle2 + S-pen functionality i'd use FJ's Build. Onlyone was laggy for me.

That being said I am a big fan of flappjaxxx's UCLE2 rom.
My recommendation is to go with the Unofficial build of CM9 by h0tw1r3.
Nothing beats the cleanliness of AOSP, and the added features that Cyanogen throws in are well worth it.
I have been running it since he released the first build and it is extremely stable. And thanks to CalcProgrammer1, it was just updated and we may even see nightly builds.
Thanks Calc!

Hey..just looking for opinions on what you guys think is the most stable and effective rom? I have been flashing sense 5 roms and cm.10 aosp roms. I prefer cm.10 i just cannot handle the bugs right now or things half working. So im just wondering what your opinions are for the most stable rom with great battery life would be? At least until all the bugs are worked out in other roms...
Oh and i have the dna w/ s-off, currently running viper. Not getting good battery life and getting many force closes with several apps

Bring on the comments please. Moonshine S-Off for me soon, Hopefully.
One of the Sense based ROM's will be the most stable and fully functional. If you want to venture out more then there are several AOSP based roms that are at about 95% functional.
Viper and newts sense 5 are generally considered the 'best' roms.

Was Newts Sense5 Rom not working out for you? I found that to be the most stable.
PAC rom by pio. Best features, no ugly sense framework.
I used to run Newt's Sense 5 rom. That, coupled with Zarbos' kernel (badass governor I think?) was very stable and had great battery life.
As of right now I'm running Flyhalf's CM 10.1 rom. No issues so far, but according to the thread some people are having random issues.
I gotta say Viper.lots of tweeks and customization and super stable!
Good Question. I plan on flashing Newt.s Sense 5 ROM when we get Moonshine but I;d prefer CM10.1.
The thing is I've read photos taken with CM are noticeably worst than Sense on the One, plus I played with it on a Note 2 and noticed that and the screen looked much worst. Can anyone say how CM stacks up in those areas?
I'm running Hatka Supreme Sense 5 rom. Seems to have the best balance of stability, speed and customization. Also battery life is great.
Just ran CM10 for the weekend to weigh it. Only real complaint was Bluetooth quality, which was a killer for me . Back on viper.

I've been running cm 10.1 for the last month. Sadly it's not the most stable ROM, yet. Thanks to the brilliant and hard work of chad, it's getting there. I have no doubt it will.
Until then I'd have to say the most stable rom at this point is newts sense 5.

Howdy. I'm looking to replace stock Jelly Bean on my rooted RAZR xt912 with a custom ROM that works.
Issues I'm looking to fix with this move:
Ability to run pdanet so I can wifi tether without eating up my limited data plan.
Ear speaker stops working after some time; I have to use a headset or speakerphone to hear the caller.
Battery life is abysmal.
System runs slow, even after recent factory reset.
I need a ROM that's stable and has everything working (camera Bluetooth, wifi, calling, google services, etc...) Because this is my only phone right now and I'm on the road away from home.
Any suggestions, ideas, or pointers would be great!

Is there a section or area set aside for ROM's, perhaps sorted by device?

Here are the roms for Droid RAZR here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1363 There are also some on droid-hive: http://droid-hive.com/index.php?/forum/455-roms/ and droidrzr: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-droid-razr-roms/ If you're looking for customization and features, go for an AOSP-based rom like cyanogenmod or aokp. If you don't care so much about features but want more stability, go for a stock/moto-based ROM.
I'm using LiquidSmooth. It's Android 4.2.2 and I use it as my daily driver. Only problems I have are random freezes and reboots, but the benefits if this ROM way outweigh that problem.
Sent from my DROID RAZR Maxx using XDA Premium
Liquidsmooth and carbon rom are very good roms my recommendation is liquidsmooth cuz its stable and abt random freezes u have to disable lockscreen by setting it to none....
I have been a cyanogenmod fan since my old Droid X. When I went with my Razr MAXX I was disappointed that it wasn't available, so I settled with Arctic for a good long while. I really liked the ROM, however as soon as Cyanogenmod was available I jumped on board ASAP. The only thing they don't have working is the HDMI output, but I don't use that feature anyways, so who cares.
Anyhow,,,,,,,,,,,, the instructions are VERY easy to follow and I have very little trouble with it. It's not what they call a stable release, but then in my opinion it's still way more stable than many others I've tried!

Completely agree with you there, Eclipse is probably my favorite Razr Jellybean rom! Great performance, great battery life and just the right amount of visual adjustments!
There are very many roms in the dev section. I want people here to recommend roms they are using. Fast and stable with some nice features.

Probably one of my favorites is Buttered AOKP! It has a lot of features, seems to be very stable (at least in my usage), and is extremely smooth and fast. I'd definitely give it a try if you haven't already!
That depends mostly on your personal requirements. You might have heard that a lotbut its true.
First of all decide what things are necessary for you and see what ROMs support it.
If you prefer the features of stock ROMs as HDMI,HD recording etc than consider stock based ROMs.
If you feel those features are less imp against customization and other performance tweaks, go for AOKP/AOSP based ROMs.

Liquidsmooth!!!
Liquidsmooth has by far the most customisability, i feel.
I tried CM10.1, locked up as hell. You don't have small conveniences such as swiping left from the pulled-down status bar to get to quick-settings (a feature I used to like a lot in MIUI v4, and also now in Liquidsmooth)
AOKP is way better in such customisability than CM, but... It just seems unstable to my daily use.
LIQUIDSMOOOOOOOOTH haha. Thanks!
Why don't you guys have pure Paranoid Android yet..? Or maybe there's one on a different site somewhere?
Anyways, does anyone want to test my recent PA build for spyder xt912? CDMA only for now (GSM to probably come later).
Candidates must be fluent in flashing custom ROMs and comfortable restoring your system if something goes wrong. Also, a bonus if you know how to get logs and/or can help troubleshoot possible issues (guess I could have done without the "/or" there..). For BMM and/or SS only. And install on a non-main system, please.
PM me for details and/or a link... Maybe first 5 or so people, after that I might not reply - don't be mad..
(Not sure if this was the best place to post for this sort of thing, but better than starting a new thread I suppose)

I've been going back & forth between PACman & Liquidsmooth. I have a slot dedicated to each. I use PACman for the unbelievable customization options & the fact that it uses bits of Paranoid, AOKP & CM; thus giving you a chance to "test" all 3 at the same time. I like Liquidsmooth because it is just that; smooth. I also use it as my more "simplistic" ROM. Enjoy.
