I currently use Oovoo but wanted to know if there are any others out there that are any good, besides Skype.
Oddly enough there are a number of them out there and new ones popping up. Google right now is offering free Video conf as a promotion.
I myself like gtalk.

I'll have to look into gtalk. How's the quality of the video?
Only ones I know of are oovoo Skype and tango. They all work good.

Can we not use gmail video chat to do face time?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
are you talking facetime as in apple? I think they only allow face time with other apple users
Well. You know how Google has a webcam video chat on gmail via webcam/laptop. Thunderbolt has front facing video camera. why couldn't we use gmail video chat on thunderbolt to talk to people on PC or laptop. Sorry if it is a dumb question.

Hmmmm... I wonder if the Honeycomb GTalk app would enable video chat... I'll try to decompile and fix for 2.2. First I need the apk...any links?

i have a xoom at work that we are testing, I will try to pull the .apk from google talk via titanium backup tomorrow since I have not rooted that device.
I was video chatting on my Xoom to my girlfriend the other night. I forget if it was the in the Talk app or not, pretty sure.
As far as "FaceTime", you can video chat with people using Tango and Yahoo Messenger for now, and Skype (with video calling) is coming soon.

I have definitely used video chat on my Xoom from the Talk app.
Let Google Know
I found a thread asking Google to please get video chat rolling here in the Google support forums.
Yeah I don't know if the Honeycomb GTalk app would just work on Froyo considering that GTalk is apparently heavily baked into a lot of Android features. But this would be an amazing feature. Maybe more people would finally start using GTalk too since it's hard to get my friends to kick their SMS addiction.
Since I've gotten my thunderbolt I haven't been able to successfully video chat using any applications. And I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it was just me

I'm using Qik on CM7.
The only issue it has is the fact that the other party sees me upside down.
Thanks for the response im guessing that means the problem is with all thunderbolts

The leaked version of Skype worked alright on mine
Tango works ok with crappy quality with iBoners and an atrix
Sent from my ADR6400L
has anybody used the new fring group chat or qik app? how are those working?
The leaked Skype works great, sound is alot better than Tango. Also the Skype works with Bluetooth which I could never get with Tango. I just can't get it to work on CM7, but I just got gTalk to work on CM7. Haven't been able to test it out but it installs and says I'm avaliable for audio and video chat. Ill update once I get home and check tho.
(Edit-- well gTalk looked good, but it was force-close city and no video. Tried clearing cache and fix permissions, but still no go. Back to Dad BAMF and Skype video for now, I guess.)

You know there was also a similar problem worth the xoom. You may want to look at how they got gtalk to work.
Yep, the leaked Skype is probably one of the best options at the moment, until we get Google's upcoming video chat, at least.

I didnt think the leaked version of Skype was secure.
In this article on Droid-Life, it specifically states: "NO, the leaked Skype with video has not been fixed."

So, is it safe to be using the leaked version?

its fine as long as you dont go downloading malicious apps from the internet. be smart and youll be ok.
I'm going away for a month and would like to video chat with my wife and baby via my Thunderbolt to her laptop.
I have the Tango app installed, but there is no version that is available for a computer. We all know Skype doesn't support video on our Thunderbolts...yet.
What can I use? Am I missing something?
There is a leaked version of Skype that works well on froyo. Qik is also decent. I also have used oovoo and its quite good on my thunderbolt.

This option only works if your run cm7.. a froyo tb will not work at all and gb(sense) tb's video is sideways. Gtalk still needs a lot of improvement.

So I know first off you gotta ne on WiFi to talk on phone and use data. Me and my brother wanted to play Rainbow 6 and talk to each other. So i said let's call, then put or speaker phone or use Bluetooth headphones and launch the game and play online. When we try to launch the game while the call is in session it won't load up. Tried all my gameloft games, no luck. Anyone know how if possible to talk and play online? Maybe Skype, haven't tried it yet

I'm not sure if this would work but try using fring to make a phone call and use that instead. See if that works and let me know what happens.

Oovoo is a video calling that I use to see my friends and it isn't supported for Atrix, is it possible someone could like crack the app and make it so it will run on the Atrix?

It actually works just fine on the atrix if you can find the newest apk... don't know why they don't support it
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
How were you able to get it working on your Atrix? Where did you download the newest apk from? Any help would be appreciated.
love oovoo! appreciated in advance if somebody will take the time and make the app!
Does anyone care to share the apk for it? I believe its on version 1.2.0 right now. Thank you.

The reviews of this I see online almost all say it's bad on pc's and that the ads on it distribute those fake antivirus trojans. Can anyone provide some more information on this application before I give it a try? Thanks.

On my atrix it shows the FFC in the top left. Here everything looks great. But when you connect to someone else, their video of you is turned up side down. Anyone else getting this?
