Hi
Sorry If I've posted in the wrong forum.
I'm new to Android.
I have a android apk which I installed on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.
I backed the app up so I could download the apk to my Windows PC.
I'd like to edit the .png files in it, I've followed a tutorial on here using the apktool, decompiled ok and recompiled it, but when I transfer it back to my phone to re install it I get a message saying the application cannot be installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You are most likely not signing the apk. Also some apks break when decompiled. This is something done by the developer on purpose

Copy it to /data/apps
Then go to the file properties and tick all the rwx permissions, then reboot.

No problem. I figured you would figure out how to sign it as there are hundreds of ways to do it and not all work for everyone.

Ok so I have been trying to change my market apk but it won't change. I push it to my system/app but the old one remains.here is the url of the png's I exchanged with. Can someone help me get this working? Please HELP me dont do it for me! Doing is half the fun. Also I dont have a vending.odex file, does it exist and can someone give it to me? Im using apk manager

U must not read. He's trying to change some pngs.
OP are u trying to take pngs from the dark colored market? I use both apk manager and ninja morph.Read my signature. If not shoot me a pm and ill help you via gmail.

Actually Im trying to change it to become like the theme in the link I posted in the OP. That theme wasnt made for my rom (stock) so I'm trying to accomodate myself. Ive used apk manager and ninjamorph too but this one is weird. Everytime I push to system/app it either disappears or the stock green one shows up. I finally got it changed a little but its the older version (idk how it became the older version considering I used the newer version and changed png) and its still mostly green. Is there another apk I must change? Thanks for the help!
Did you try going under settings, manage applications, market...and uninstalling updates...that fixed my vending.apk problems

the newest Market is 2.3.3 make sure thats the one your working with...
From reading a few other themed ROM sections, lots of people with themed ROMS are seeing their themed market apk revert back you the green market.
One suggestion was deleting the market updater apk, clearing ur updates and cache in the themed market apk, and then re-pushing the themed market apk back to system/app.
This worked for me when I was using gingerRED.

The version I have is 2.21 & how do I uninstall updates?
Here, this is 2.3.2 CWM flashable, neon blue market. It will not update and change back to green unless you want it to. I already skipped two updates and very happy since it didn't change. You might have to reboot a couple of times before it changes and if it doesn't wipe data for market and reboot.

Oh your not off the hook that easy, tell me how you did the market thing? I tried pushing every possible way and got stuck with an older version even though that version was never even used, extracted or saved anywhere phone or pc. You have to tell me!!!

Lol, I didn't make it, it was made already. I got it from someone few weeks back. not sure who made it but there is another thread for someone customizing market except I didn't see the neon blue one in there.

zip apk (using system option)
take apk and push to system/framework using various methods

ps. all images exchanged are from roms or themes not supported by the stock rom. I get the images to go after Im done but also get hit by a million force closes.

I used Titanium pro donate version and froze the market updater. After that I used Root Explorer and copied the themed vendor apk and pasted it to system/app. Worked perfectly. I did have to reboot initially and it worked. Hope this helps.

Actually Im trying to change the framework-res.apk now I need to edit the thread title. I keep getting force closes when I edit framework-res.
Ps I pretty much never have had success editing any apk in the system folder. Can someone post a dumbed down tutorial on how to edit apk's in the system folder?
Greetings XDA, Im new here and i need some help regarding apk multi tool.. Ive searched the forums but i couldnt find any suitable answers
So I am trying to decompile the framework-res.apk and edit the styles.xml in values folder .. but everytime i compile it back and push it to my sytem/framework, and restart my phone bootloops..
this happens even if i donot mod anything in the apk and just decompile - recompile - push..
Any ideas ?

You have to sign the APK after you decompile!

This is wrong. Never sign a system framework file. You only sign user apps and a very small number of system apps.
What changes are you making? For what OS?

ohhk! It happened to me as well and someone told me its because I haven't signed the APK.
Anyways, Thanks for correcting me
Try by making compression level to 0 and heap size to 512
This solved my problem though.
Also be sure that u don't get any errors while compiling the apk.

What error message do you get?
My first thoughts: wrong signature, no signature, compiled as non-system APK

anyone have this app....i just pull out from note 1 & install it on my note 2 but cannot install....put it on /system/app/, reboot still cannot....

i just take a file that TheFamilyMan attach to me than move it to /system/app/, set permission then reboot....:good::good:
try install it as normal apk but didn't work....

Guys i tried pushing the file using Quick Adb Pusher
although it stated that the file is copied to system/app folder
when i restarted the phone i still dont see the app there
Also tried installing the app with quick adb pusher , again it said the application is intalled
but after restarting the phone i again dont see the app installed or copied in folder please help
how do i copy/install the file to /syster/app folder on non rooted note 2

I decompiled settings.apk of Micromax A110 using apktool.I installed framework-res.I did not even touch any file of the decompiled directory.i recompiled it.and it is showing the following error.I cannot even add my name in the ROM i created and it is my first rom .is it any problem with apktool or java.i can get the output apk and it donot get installed in the rom.There is no settings in the app drawer.You people are awesome rom developers .pls help me.i just want to add this. developer name sabeeh. . These are just warnings the apk will compile fine...

I would say the same thing, with a side note that while warnings are often dismissed because you can still compile and it MAY work, they are there for a reason. In this case, as far as I see, there are missing translations. It may or may not be pertinent, but it should be dismissed upon inspection, not upon realizing that "it compiles".
