[Q] SD card; works in CWM, not in android - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm terrible sorry if I'm asking a question that's been answered before, but I tried my best searching the forums to find a solution without luck.
I've just flashed my phone to cyanogen first, and then paranoidandroid. The problem i'm having is that i can't get my sd card working.
It works in CWM, and I've tried formatting it there many times; but i only get the "Blank SD card" error, and nothing happens when i format it
in android. I've tried formatting it in windows in FAT32, but i just get the same error msg or "Damaged SD card" error.
I think I got it working in cyanogen by changing the location for where the image were being stored, but i can't find that option in paranoidandroid even though it looks like the exact same camera app.
My phone is i9300t and the sd card i'm using is sandisk 64g.
And responds is welcomed with thanks

Edit; got it working by putting it into another phone and transferring a file on it.

SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem

I'm having a problem with my 8GB sandisk card. My Htc Legend keeps giving me a pop up in the notification blind that says SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem. I've done some searching on google and notice people are having this problem with their Desires and other various android devices.
However I haven't come across a fix. I noticed one Legend owner had it occur after a restore of data from sd card. I'm having a feeling this happened to me as well since I got the OTA firmware upgrade yesterday. And I'm having the problem with the sd card today and I had the option to save date to sd. Today I unchecked it since I started using another card and I'm afraid of that one getting ruined.
Is there a way to fix my other card as I don't want to just throw away a perfectly fine 8GB card.
I've tried reformating in phone and pc. Have tried it in other phones. PC doesn't read it. Blackberry 8900 will not boot with it inserted and freezes if inserted after boot. myTouch 3G slide gives the same error. And does nothing when formatting.
i had this when i first got my new sd card and the phone basically to get it working i just went into the phone and formatted it via the android os then it mounted fine settings > storage > format (you may have to unmount first if it is still mounted )

I've tried this numerous times and it does not do anything. Does not show the option to unmount.
Hi all,
I guess my problem is very similar. Using an DHD with a 8 GB SD Card...
I did a factory restore including to wipe all data on SD card.
the DHD was rebooting and now I get the message Blank SD Card - SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem. in the notification bar.
is there any App I can restore my SD card? made full backup so ****ting on data just wana bring it back working.
Card gets not mounted... when I hit the message in notification bar it ask me to format card - I did multiple times with no success.
Anyone knows how to restore the card? Hope it's not gone for ever :-(
Thanks for help
same problem here, i guess a new sd card is due
Following I found out regarding the issue"SD card Blank/unsuported filesystem":
Just read my update here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11353140
there are 2 ways to fix this (one of them I can confirm restored the filesystem on my SD card)
Kind Regards,
Der Matte
PS.: thanks @ GOOGLE
PS.PS.: maybe a mod can merge the threads as I think this is a general problem with HTC phones

The sd card usually goes to raw format. Raw format supported software can help you extract the files and then you can use the full format option in windows 7, quick format checkbox unchecked.

[Q] How can I get my SD card to be recognised?

So I got my SGSII today, and rooted it (using CF-Root), and installed VillainRom 1.1. Since doing all this, my SD card won't work. It can be read perfectly by my computer. I formatted it to FAT32 in Windows, yet still the phone doesn't recognise it.
Under "SD Card" in the options, I get "Total Space: Unavailable" "Available Space: Unavailable". Also, the "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" options are greyed out. I tried booting to CWM Recovery, but there wasn't an option to format the external SD.
When the phone starts up, it shows "Media scanner running..." then immediately afterwards "Media scanning completed", as if it's not scanning anything.
I've tried searching, and manually looking through threads as well, but I can't seem to find anything useful at all.
So my question is: How can I fix either my phone or my SD card in order for the phone to accept the SD card? Many thanks in advance.

My only old phone is an HTC Hero; would that work do you think? I've tried reformatting from my computer to no avail.
Just to add some more info. I tried re-flashing the CF-Root through ODIN, and also the VillainRom 1.1 through ODIN. Neither has fixed my SD Card Problem.
Okay, I managed to fix the problem. It turned out that it was, as said above, the formatting of the SD card. I had tried multiple programs but eventually found the sdcard.org official formatter, which did the trick.
Thanks everyone

[Q] Is my microSD screwed?

Hi all,
Today, out of the blue, I see a message in the status bar saying "Blank SD card" and "SD card blank or has unsupported file system".
I don't care too much about the data on it (I have backups), but I tried to format it (within Android) a few times and remount it and it still gives me that message.
I also tried to format it in CWM but I get an error message saying that the SD card can't be mounted.
So I'm a bit stuck here... what can I do?
Thanks!

[Q] Preparing SD Card, Checking for error

Every few hours or so, I will get this message. My music player playlist will be wiped out, I am assuming the phone lost connection with the SD card, hence the connection with the music files on my SD card.
I am running CheckROM v5.5, Jelly Bean. FYI, the problem happens even when I was using ICS.
I have read around and tried to reformat from phone, but the problem persists. Any kind souls to help out here? If there any app to check if this is a faulty card or something? It's still covered under warranty I believe, so I can get the SD card changed.
Thanks

Try out the card in another device, if you get the same message the card is faulty.
There is a Windows tool for checking cards, have a look in one of the sd card threads and you should find the name of it, or Google it
thank you both for your suggestions
@gee it would be hard to replicate that environment, since the message occurs randomly at infrequent intervals, but thanks anyway
I have same problem too, when I on gingerbread my phone being normal and no error sd card but when I on Jelly Bean my phone being "preparing sdcard checking error"

SD card not working in 4.2.2

I recently decided to go from Jedi VX13 to ParanoidAndroid. Since I was going to 4.2.2 from 4.1.2 instead of the other direction, I thought that I wouldn't need to take any special precautions to keep my SD card working. The flash from CWM went fine and the phone booted up normally. However, no matter where I searched, the SD card directory was nowhere to be found.
I have read many posts about the card data being in another place, but I have used Root Explorer and Solid Explorer search functions without any luck. I even installed TWRP over CWM and formatted the SD card from there at someone else's suggestion. The phone can see that a card has been placed into the phone, because the Storage menu gives the Mount SD option. However, every time I press it, I see "SD card is blank or has unsupported file system". I have even pressed the offered format option in the 4.2.2 OS multiple times with no luck. I can't believe that the SD card has to have files on it to be mountable by the OS.
The card is readily accessible in TWRP and on my computer, so the card itself is not in error. I have even taken the step of doing a scorched earth wipe of the internal memory to try to solve this. I am missing some crucial step in the formatting or mounting process, but I am out of ideas at this point. Any help that can be offered is appreciated.
Please close thread
After I was finished typing this out, I flashed the newest ParanoidAndroid build. Not only does it stabilize 4G, but my card is now recognized! Please close this thread as soon as possible.
