How do I open a zip file on my phone so I can download it!!
Like I have the zip file but I can't download it on my phone??
I have es file ex. But I don't know how to turn it in a apk so I can download it on the phone
I dont fully understand your question. This is how I interpreted it. You jave the .zip file downloaded on you phone. Then you need to open it (un zip it) to get to an app thats in there. If thats the case you should be able to just open the .zip and press and hold the file you want and a menu should come up with a few options. One should say extract. Hit that and there you go.

I'm doing the xposed modes on my note 2. But there on a zip file in I excited it on my phone it doesn't have a download

Not to be a D, but if you don't know how to flash a zip file....you probably shouldn't be playing with an unlocked/rooted phone. At least not until you read up a bit more on what you are doing.

If you're trying to install the Xposed Framework posted here, it should already come with an .APK file extension, it shouldn't be a zip file. The zip file posted in that thread can be flashed in recovery to disable the framework if stuff gets messed up.
And if you have a zip file, you should be able to open it with a file explorer app.

You know, I might be wrong but I think I downloaded the zip file also and just renamed it with an apk extention. Im not sure though.....

Correct. Looks just like the ICS dialer, just adds search contacts by name/number functionality.

- unzip downloaded file
- open "system/app" inside downloaded file
- run phone.apk and contacts.apk
- copy them and paste inside phone memory "system/app"

Mind sharing what the issue was with flashing through recovery? I didn't have any issues in testing.
Edit: NVM, just saw that you're running a different device. That would make sense as to why then. =)

I tried the steps above, but phone apk install failed and after copying to the system/app folder my phone app started not working and my network also didnt seem to work. had to go for a restore ..
any ideas?

um... what phone do you have? You realize this is a EVO 3D thread? Try pulling the apps out of the zip and either ADB push them to /system/app/ or use a file explorer to move and replace your current ones. If you move them using your phone, make sure the permissions are correct. rw-r--r--

These are system apps, so you cannot just install them like a regular app, or it will fail every time. Like I said above, either ADB push them or use an app like root explorer. If you use a app, make sure permissions are correct, or else they might crash.

Ok i was previously on cherry blur and had flawless data but flashed dark side and now my data works and then stops then takes a roboot to work again then stops aftet about 5 minutes of use . have searched for ever and tryed numerous apns if anyone has a solution or somthing i can try it would be great .

First, use some punctuation man!
Second, yes, you need to extract the .rar file. How you do it is up to you.

I downloaded a custom rom based on ICS and unzip the file then I add some app.apk to data/app and rezip it.
I tried to run zip in recovery but coudn't.
My question is that, why it didn't work??
Originally is it possible to add app.apk to same folder of a custom rom and then install the rom with my favorite apps??

You can use 7zip "free download" to modify roms. It allows you to edit the rom without extracting it. Download the program and read the tutorial. Basically when you extract a rom you change the file association and it needs to be resigned. Also when you swap out and or add apps,files,etc you have to edit the update script to reflect the changes. You can google to find out more. This is just my understanding, hope it helps.

If u unzip the file, it will lost it signed properties (something like that) which cause the file not useable. If u need to add or remove apk, just use winrar or 7z and open the file without unzipping it.

I did it and installed the rom but many of added apps didn't work.
I do not know why???
Perhaps it cause of my recovery because I used. 4EXT recovery.
And I must say that androidsigner n not sign zip files over than 600Mb. I tried several times.
OK here ya go I tried to test these as best I could but as always USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I would NAND Backup if I didn't want to have to reflash my ROM (like that was ever an issue).
This uses D.O.C. theme engine so they can be flashed on virtually ANY ROM.

Unfortunately none that i'm aware of.. other than to extract the ROM, open framework-res.apk (7zip) copy the XMLs from the attached zip into the apk.

Nope. No workaround. Also with vrtheme, if you want your old animations back, there is a folder created as "vrtheme-backup" on your sd card. These could potentially work on nearly any ICS rom.

Thanks guys, that sucks. Any idea why things are so finicky with the recoveries? My inc and tbolt were mules, that got raped and pillaged regularly with everything i could possibly think of, the x2 and rezound are stubborn and finicky, and put up one Hell of a fight with my crack flashing and constant amateur modding attempts

TWRP I **think** can't run busybox scripts.
This is FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! Flip is my favorite.
But I haven't tried any others.......

In recovery, check your SD card for vrtheme-backup. Were you using TWRP?

I use AmonRa 3.15 and flashed VRThemes before so I'm not sure what went wrong.
There's a framework-res.apk in that folder and that's it.
I restored my backup, re-downloaded the file, flashed again, it says successful but my phone is still stuck at the HTC screen.

only "work around" for it would be to extract the framework-res.apk from your system/framework directory.
place it on your pc, use 7zip to explore the apk with out opening it and drop the "anim" folder into the apk where the old one is.
then push apk back to phone.

That's really not hard at all. I might have to include one of these in my next ROM.
I'm wanting to try the new jellybean keyboard from the Note 2 on my S3 and would appreciate if someone would upload the apk for me. After trying the demo out and seeing the number keys locked @ the top, I wanted to try it on my phone but didn't want to download the entire ROM, just to try it. If someone would upload it, I would appreciate it.

the rom is in a tar format so i cant extract it. well i dont know how. if you know or can find out what files you need, i can pull them out of the phone

i just remembered that that apk was from beans rom and its deodexed. it wont work on a odexed rom.

I figured that out, after opening the apk. I did download the deodexed version from one of the ROM developers and it installs, but force closes instantly. The files are different, in a few aspects but I'm working on some lib files now. Hopefully that will work...........
