[Q] Is it just me or what ? Error 404 - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every one of the themes I try to download it sends me to yahoo search bar saying "secure oi installer 9 manager setup". Are the links dead ? Or do I need to get a program to download them ?

[Q] How to download apk file on PC from market?

I can't download apps from market on my Android device(maybe due to a network issue), so I'm wondering how could I download the apk file of an app on my PC from market.android.com ?
Nope, it just pushes the app directly to your phone. What error is your phone giving you?
you can't download the apk file straight from market
just straight download and install

I believe that Google have been experiencing intermittent market issues their end over the last few days as many others in my local forum have reported issues......just give it some time and try again.
so has any one found a way to download apk files directly from the web via windows / linux with out using android phone / emulator
my phone has not been able to download new files for like a year now .. the downloads just never start ....
surly their must be a firefox plugin by now ?
unless you download it from some site like mediafire, 4shared which is not highly recommended.
there is a method to get .apk from the android market. But just a disclaimer, this doesn't apply to every app on the market.
Just click the app author's name and it will show you the list of other apps the author has on the market. On that page, there is a link saying "visit website for <author>", follow that link. If the author has his website tied directly to sites.google.com, at the bottom of that page there are options to download the .apk of his apps directly to your PC. Of course this mostly happens to apps which are free to begin with.
But just in case, you can also try going to the author's main website and check if they offer their apps as direct .apk download. HTH

Download any app from Android Market

I found this new chrome extension that allows you to download any app from https://market.android.com/, regardless of if its "officially" compatible with your device or showing up on your market app. I don't have my Nook tablet yet so I can't test it but I tested a couple apps that don't show up on my Xoom's market and shows incompatible at the website but was able to sideload the apks that I downloaded with the extension.
Now this is of course not a guarantee that the app will work with your Nook tablet (or other device); this is simply a way to get the apks and test (if I remember right, Facebook was one of the popular apps that wouldn't show up in the market and needed to be side loaded).
The extension requires your google login + device ID (there's an app to help get that ID) and that guide explains why your login is needed.
Great application. I'm in japan and nice not to be stuck with bad app selection

After I clicked "Ok" after this step,
Switch to “Shortcut” tab. In “Target” field, insert [space]--ignore-certificate-errors at the end. Once you have that finished, click “OK” .
It will look something like this: C:\…\chrome.exe --ignore-certificate-errors
Close Chrome and open it again with that shortcut
it showed an error "The name 'C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrtome.exe --ignore-certificate-errors' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct."
Did anyone run into the same problem? I assume my Chrome is the latest version since I just downloaded and installed today.

What you want to do is make sure those quotation marks are not around the --ignore-certificate-errors
they should stop at the chrome.exe"

Tool Bar (under the X, if you're using windows) and then about google chrome.
Or right into the url bar: chrome://version/

I found out the problem. The --ignore-certificate-errors must be outside the " as shown below:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --ignore-certificate-errors
Now, how do I install the downloaded "1.0.crx" file to my PC? Thanks!

Thanks! Since I already downloaded the file to My Download directory on my local drive, so I just opened up Chrome and pointed to the downloaded file in URL, and it started installing.
When it came back to ask the email address and Device ID, I tried to install Device ID app by following the link, but it told me "There are no Andriod phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account".
Since I don't have another Andriod device other than my Nook Tablet, how do I add an Android device to my gmail account?
Thanks!

Maybe you missed the part where "the developer discontinued the extension." So no, it hasn't.

The link is still there, just the post isn't updated that the developer isn't hosting the extension anymore. He doesn't want people to use it to pirate paid apps from the market.

that link still working... try follow the guide..
Joseph777 - Search the Market for redphx and in the list of apps, install Device ID. It will show you your 16 digit ID.
Even after entering my device is and email and stuff, I'm still getting an error telling me to check either the ssl settings or my email/password. I've already updated the chrome shortcut to gnore certificate errors.

Sorry I am not so clear about this.
Could you please help me?
I think he meant this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS52aXJ0dWVzb2Z0LmRvd25sb2FkIl0.
You just have to go to the market on your x10 (via the widget or in the menu), then search it (there should be a search icon on the right rop of the screen, then type in byte tornado and you should find the same app as shown in the link, then download this app, and with the app then you can download what you actually are looking for (wifi modules), hope i could help a bit
