[Q] Module Compiling - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people,
I manage to trade my AcRyan PlayOn! HD2 Mini for an AC Ryan Veolo player which runs android.
After rooting the device and playing around with the software a little I managed to get the thing to do what I want......except for one thing.
I know you guys managed to get Xbox 360 Wireless controllers working on android.
So I looked to see what Kernel I have on this device, and the kernel is 2.6.35.7_hl3716c
The last part (after the .7) is hardware-developer id if I recall right.
So what I would need it the Kernel Modules for my device which will let me use the xbox controllers (wireless).
I have found the source files of the kernel here:
https://github.com/Asure/Dropad-kernel-2.6.35.7 and tried to compile the modules myself....with no luck.
I am running this firmware:
http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=186&t=19624
Would anyone be willing to compile the .KO files for me which will let me use my Wireless Xbox 360 controller on the device?
I want to use gamepads as I am planning to play games (emulators) on it like Sega Genesis.
I have a Genesis with a whole bunch of games, but it would be cool to play genesis, NES, SNES on the Veolo.
Please help....

[Q][Mod] Xbox 360 controller

I recently read an article stating that Honeycomb 3.1 can connect to an Xbox 360 controller. This is possible due to an "open accessory API." I was wondering if it was possible to rip this API from Android 3.1 and implement it into a custom rom.
I would like to hear from anybody who thinks this is possible and would like to have this feature in a rom. My personal reason for wanting this is for use in emulators such as N64oid, FPse, and Gameboid.
Yea this would most def be nice very cool we need it the very much hatedby me i phone has this option to use wii motes
Wii remotes are cool and all but the overall handling of an Xbox controller would be awesome
what about a ps3 remote?
Seems like it's available in Gingerbread according to faux's thread...
3.A new USB accessory Chat support is added (hm... I wonder what types of USB Chat accessories )
4. USB HOST support in the now officially in framework
USB chat must be the thing google showed the N1 or NS doing at one of the I/O events. And PS3 controller should work too since xbox+wii work, maybe ps3 can be fixed to work thru BT.
I want the ps3 remote because I'm so use to it but after searching through xda I found that it currently wasn't possible. I only brought up the Xbox controller because it is a known fact that it is possible on android 3.1

[Q] Which controllers work with the Galaxy Tab 10.1

I've been searching the internet for a while now and I couldn't find any helpful information on controllers that definitely work with a retail Galaxy Tab 10.1 using the host USB adapter.
All I could find was information on Xooms, Transformers or Google I/O Tabs.
Wii controllers seem to be a popular choice since there is an app available for them but other than that it's hard to find any helpful facts.
I'd like to find something that at least has the capabilities of a Wii Classic controller but without it having to be connected to a Wiimote controller for when I play some ROMs. So far I couldn't find an available version that does not need to be connected to a Wiimote over here in Germany.
I don't care if it's wireless or connected directly through an USB cable.
Is there anyone here who has found a controller that works with their 10.1 that is commonly available?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can confirm that my Logitech Dual Action USB Gamepad works perfectly on the Tab using the USB adapter. Model Number is G-UF13A. Hope this helps.
I just received my controller yesterday and it works alright in snes9x ex. It's the icontrolpad. I got it off of ebay. The application that allows it to work is in the market. It's called Bluez IME. It allows the use of four different bluetooth controllers but of the four I thought that one looks the best.
The other three that work using that program are:
Zeemote JS1
MSI Chainpus BGP100
Phonejoy
And here is a link to the app

If you have any other questions just let me know
has anyone gotten a ps3 controller to work?
I've tried several times but to no avail. even with pershoot's kernel and loading the hid-sony.ko module. I was hoping the TW update would fix this but i kind of doubt it. if you get it to work let me know lol

I have gotten the ps3 controller to work with pershoots kernel. The controller has to be charged completely before connecting to the tab.
Thank you so much guys! The Logitech Dual Action USB controller looks like a good choice. I hope they still have one in stock on Amazon.de when I come back from Ibiza.
As for the Bluetooth controller:
I can't seem to find one that's available on this side of the big pond.
I'd love to hear more reports on working controllers. Maybe we could start a list. That would help a lot of people.

Yup. Bet the guy above would have seen overcurrent trips in the dmesg, if he'd looked at the dmesg.
Uncharged controller = current trip.
Charged controller = works with pershoot's kernels and the hid-sony.ko module
GO to this link and buy it. It works beautifully with the Tab.

I did get the current trip message the first time so I charged it up fully and it gave me no current trip message but still got nothing. I never figured out what I was doing wrong. After installing Pershoot's kernel I pushed hid-sony.ko into modules using root explorer, ran insmod /data/local/modules/hid-sony.ko in terminal and it gave me no error messages so I hooked up my controller and nothing happened. Are there any other steps involved? Do I have to hit the PS button? Once it's connected should I be able to navigate through my apps and screens straight out the gates?
Sixaxis controller
Sixaxis controller from the android market works great if you have a ps3 controller. Requires root before you can use it.
Yup the Sixaxis App works like charm on my P7500. I hope there will be more Android Games in future that support game controllers.
Which games don't? I just ordered the Sixaxis off ebay and am hoping to replace the Wiimote I have been using for mario and such.
I rooted my Tab 10.1 just for this and the Tablet recognizes the PS3 controller but I can't seem to get it to work with my GBA or N64 Emulators. When I map the buttons in the Emulator it recognizes the buttons I press but it doesn't translate to the games itself. Any useful hints? Did I miss something?
/Edit:
The game Cordy recognizes the controller but the screen goes black after a while as if I'm not pressing any buttons. Do I have to set the screen timeout to never when I use a controller?
/Edit 2:
Snes9x seems to work perfectly with the PS3 controller. I wonder why the emulators from Yong Zhang don't work with this setup.
/Edit 3:
Figured it out. Apparently you have to enable the option "Enable Input Method" (Game Pad / Bluetooth Controller) so that the controller actually works. Tried SNESoid, NESoid and N64oid and they all worked.

Oh yeah, now I remember that - I had to hit the PS button before it would do anything.
hey, i'm new here, but i felt the need to necro this thread and add a controller i found working quite well to my own surprise.
i used the official usb adapter and plugged in my Saitek cyborg gamepad
and it works flawlessy on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (3.1) with my emulators (tried nesdroid and snesdroid).
i cant post links but google 'Saitek Cyborg Rumble Gamepad'
it's the pc version, USB, black/greyish colors
myself tried finding a good controller but they seem to be expensive or hard to find and i didnt want to root my device just because of that so maybe this helps someone trying to get a nice controller with lots of buttons for a fair price.
Sixaxis
Sixaxis works on rooted GTab's?!? Score!

[Q] Which game pad is recommended?

Which game controller do you recommend? I'm mainly looking to use it on my tab for emulators and whatever android games are compatible with a controller.
I was looking at a sixaxis just because it looks like it can connect wirelessly with the app but I'd be willing to buy a USB connector and flash a kernel to make a controller compatible. Also I don't know if the dual shock 3 controller works with the sixaxis app. (I'm not sure if that's an entirely different thing)
I guess I'm mainly wondering which controller is most compatible, meaning full joy stick control and things like that.
Thanks if you can help me out!
I'm currently using my PS3 controller with the new Sixaxis App from the store. All you need is Root access and to pair your PS3 controller with a PC to tell it what your tablets Bluetooth MAC address is and it should work. I've been using it ever since with all my emulators and it works like it's supposed to.
There is also an app from the same dev to test if the controller works with your device but if its a GT 10.1 and a regular PS3 controller there shouldn't be an issue.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
If not I'm probably going to grab a sixaxis but I want to be sure I'm getting the best since I'm not tied down to a controller for a console I already own.
Thanks
There is already another Q & A thread started by me from a while ago where some people listed a few alternatives. Just search the Q & A forum or check the first few pages and you will find the thread. Since I already own a PS3 and the other controllers aren't that available in my country it was an easy choice for me. Hope that helps.

Emulator (FPSE and N64) discussion.

Hey everyone. Since we got bluetooth working on AOSP roms we can finally use our bluetooth controllers to play games.
So since we are past that step I'd like to start a thread on compatibility.
N64 Runs great. FPSE I can't seem to get running on an AOSP rom.
Anyone else have any success stories to share?
wait whhaaatt....
using bluetooth... to control nintendo roms on your phone... that is brilliant! your rom has to support bluetooth, obviously, and you need a controller that connects to bluetooth devices.
how did you get this to work?? that is one thing i miss a lot from my old phone is all the SNES, gameboy, sega game emulation.
Aosp roms have the correct bluetooth stacks. I use a Wiimote with a classic controller Attached. You can also just use a ps3 controller.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I actually can't get FPse to play anything on AOSP
awesomeness!

PS2 controller compatibility with android.

Hi everyone, I am new to making threads but I have been a fan of xda for long time for providing help to me and millions of others.
Now coming back to the point. I have a PS2 controller which I want to use with my phone for playing games. I already have a otg cable, a PS2 to usb connector. I tried playing real racing 3 with it and it works as charm. The mapp application I used was usb/bt control centre as sixaxis doesn't recognize PS2 controllers( or maybe I don't know how to do it). NOW THE MAIN PROBLEM is that I can't use my right analog stick. I tried many apps but none of them recognize my right analog stick..well it works well on my pc..and I checked it on some app also right analog stick works..but when it comes to android it doesn't. Now I would like to know from u people whether or not PS2 controller is fully compatible with android or should I buy a ps3 controller..Or is there something I am missing..
