Use the top link to download it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34831983&postcount=2
Extract the boot.img from the .zip file. Wipe dalvik cache and cache. Flash the .zip. Wipe dalvik cache and cache again. Boot into fastboot and flash the boot.img.

No, it's different on his new kernels. As per his instructions.

BEASTMODE 5.0+ will not install correctly and run correctly for you s-on users please follow these directions to get your customized boot.img off your sdcard
flash zip as you would normally but dont reboot out of recovery
copy the /tmp/newboot.img somewhere you can get to it
then use flashimageGUI or fastboot to flash the newboot.img you pulled from your phone

And if he can't find that file then he won't be able to flash the kernel.
And @op, what issues are you having with twrp?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app

In the file it's a zlimage not .img and with twrp I can't find any files at all I don't know if I changed a setting or what I can only find files in cmw?

Or can anybody post that kernel on here for me please? I'm hurting for that great battery everyone is talking about.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app

It's not hard to do it, you should learn it so everytime there's an update you don't have to ask someone to extract the kernel for you.

I did do it for every other one except beastmode 5.0+ because it has a zlmage not .img sorry I tried everything this is my demo work phone and not mine so I can't do s-off

Untested
Hurry up and download it before I delete it
The boot.img is inside the zip this is NOT flashable.
Use fastboot or something...

Its about to be deleted hope you got it..
Ok well thats it times up.. the reason? well its not mine to post..

Sorry I was at work thanks

How to flash kernel?

So if I install a rom do I immediately flash a voodoo kernel or do I flash set it up and reboot into recovery and flash?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You only need to have CWM and the CWM flashable zip. Then, just boot into Recovery, select Zip from SDcard, pick your kernel, flash, enjoy.

No I meant if I flash a kernel immediately after flashing rom or do I wait for setup and then reboot into recovery and flash
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ah I see. Well, I don't know if it's required, but I always flash a ROM, let it boot into the system, wait for about 30 minutes, then go back and flash a different kernel, just to be safe.

Flashing From ICS to Pure Gingerbread

I am attempting to flash from Scott's CleanRom ICS version 2.1 back to the stock CleanRom version 1.5 and after wiping and flashing the phone boots to the HTC screen and then just sits on the half back-lit screen and doesn't fully boot. I am assuming this might just be a boot.img issue but if so I am not sure how to fix it? Could someone please fill me in on what the issue is and how I can fix it? Thanks so much.

You have to reflash the kernel. It's in the ROM zip file. Look for boot.img.
Grab your PC and plug in
flash the boot.img file like this in DOS "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Thank you! Do I do this after flashing the rom or before?

use scott's cleanflash to flash boot.img first then go to recovery and flash the rom.
as far as i know, the rom should be in the sdcard before flashing the boot.img.

you have to choose one version, download and copy to your device
1. run recovery
2. wipe data, cache, dalvik
3. install zip from your device
4. reboot
i do step by step...still reboot recovery...
have u try it?
Did you install CWM? My buddy had the same problem with rebooting into recovery.

I tried flashing it and it does indeed just reboot to recovery. Have no idea why.
What it actually does is sits at boot logo screen, then reboots to recovery, so it actually bootloops once into recovery each time you try to boot it up.

can i just take from cm9 source??
I got it booting using cm9 as base.
All you gotta do is delete app/framework from cm9 then push all app/framework of codename to see at least what the ui looks like and what options and features it has

rickriego replaced the bin/libs in the CNA zip with the ones from cm9 and posted a flashable zip over in the dev section for anyone interested.
I know there is a version using Jokersax's files but has anyone gotten it to work with Turl's files. The camera does not work with the newest jokersax as Rodriego uses, so I tried to use Turl's, and it just got stuck on the bootscreen. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I thought it would be pretty easy. I used winrar to move the folders to the cna rom zip but still stays on boot animation.
Thought I was going crazy bit other people could not make it work with turls1's files

No, the above WILL NOT WORK!!!
However, doing this will work:
get the nightly from
http://cna.exynos.co/olympus/
get the
beta 0.4.3
faux’s 1.0 kernel -outdated (ignore outdated, it´s the right one)
from
http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cyanogenmod-9-atrix/
get jokersax gapps v11
from
http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cm9-gapps/
in linux, using Q7Z, unzip the CNA nightly and replace the following folders by the ones from Joker´s beta 0.4.3:
bin
lib
xbin
Re-Zip. Be careful not to alter the zip structure or permissions.
In Recovery, flash your modded CNA.zip, THEN flash faux´s kernel, THEN flash gapps.
Enjoy

[Q] trouble installing Cyanogenmod9 on S2

Hi. im having a bit of trouble getting cm9 on my phone.
first of all i im trying to install recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.4-galaxys2.tar but struggle to find it online. most links dont work and when i find a download site that does it downloads a zip file that when i unzip it it opens a file called zImage.
i need the .tar file so i can flash it using Odin
i have a GT-i9100
version 4.04
Flash siyah kernel through Odin. Download from here: http://www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v4/Siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar

yer sorry my mistake
ok so i now have clockworkmod recovery. i need to copy GApps and CM9zips to SD card...
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps zip
but since i flashed recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.4-galaxys2.tar my phone only stays on start screen:
Samsung
GALAXY S II
GT-I9100
then a yellow triangle with a " ! " inside. i can access download mode and recovery mode but i cant link it to my computer to transfer the zips to SD card!
any suggestions?
Enter recovery and wipe data, cache, dalvik cache.

How to flash cm 10.1

I've got my boot loader unlocked. I'm rooted on v10g. I have cwm and I was wondering if I could just flash the zip file with cwm.
I think you have to make sure you have the right recovery to flash with. If I'm not mistaken I did flash with the cmw for locked bootloaders but to be safe I'll say to find the right one that is for unlocked bootloaders. I'm using CMW touch for unlocked bootloaders. Make sure you do a factory reset. It might not be necessary but I run a factory reset, I wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing a ROM. Also, make sure you backup your stock ROM before flashing another.

Is there anywhere I can get the files for cwm touch? I wasn't able to install that when I unlocked my bootloader. Thanks for the reply.

Here is the recovery file, just install it using fastboot as cmahendra describes in his awesome guide
Everytime I issue the unlock command to try and get in fastboot mode it just restarts my phone.

Oh, I didn't know you had a P769.
Look at the bottom most paragraph of the first post of this guide by carloswii5.
He explains it very nicely.
So to get this straight. I download the recovery image & put that on the root of the sd card. Then flash it. Then I'll boot to recovery & flash cm 10.1

Yes, exactly, but use the "Nandroid Manager ROOT" to flash recovery and then do a full wipe + format system before flashing CM10.1
You can of course then flash Gapps as well.
carloswii5 said:
If you want to install the cm10 rom the optimus L9 has as of right now you
have to do the following
1) Go to the app store and search for the app called "Nandroid Manager ROOT"
download the app and open it then go to flash recovery you must first put the recovery from the downloaded file to the
root of you external sd card and then go to the app and search for the recovery and flash it.
After you flash it you will have a recovery on your phone
(just to let you know it will be mirrored) but to boot to recovery you must turn off the phone
and then hold the "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button"
now go download the cm10 rom from here " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216542 " put the file to the root of your sd card and then reboot to recovery and then to flash you will need to "wipe system, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache then flash" after you flash the zip reboot and you will have CM10 Hope This helped
