So we all know about the sleep of death issues with this phone initially. It caused me to replace my phone. However, I am STILL getting stuck in deep sleep every day. I got it on SnowJB and now I'm getting it on SlickJB. The only time I didn't get it was with the 11c update. I've gotten it with every ROM since then though. Am I alone on this?
Nope. I'm in the same boat. I've been trying different things to remedy the situation. Today I'm trying underclocking. Ill know if it worked when I go to school.
Only happens when data is on and being used but wifi is on but not connected.
If I am connected to wifi, I never get them.

Maybe there's still a "bad batch." I only get bsods maybe once or twice a month if that. To get so many is really bizarre.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I hardly ever have wifi on, and when I have it on it's connected. I get locked out when just data is on. Maybe I'll see about unrooting and getting another replacement.
Is it possible the BSOD issues are being caused by CPU grade?
Mine is a 3/FAST, and I got SoD's on SnowJB and Nocturnal LE, but only like one or two on SlickJB, and NONE on the JB OTA or new CM10.1.
I posted a last_kmge.txt file that Mystery said had some good info in it and said that it was definitely the kernel. See the convo below:
Joecascio2000 said:
I was finally able to get the last_kmsg.txt file after my latest BSOD. This one actually has some info in it. I really hope it holds some answers.
http://db.tt/eeag41ot
Edit: more info, I caught the BSOD at around 10:35 and pulled the log right away. I noticed the last event is at 10:27am. So my phone BSODed 7 minutes after I left my house and was on the freeway.

If your using the stock kernel from the at&t jb update there shouldn't be no bsod. Snowjb, slick, my kernel are using the source from the Korean lgog. What baffels me us the fact it only happens to a handful of people.

You don't need juice defender. It'll have a more negative effect on battery as its just another process running in the background.
I got the same message. There was a beta version of one that didn't have the same message. I ended up not using any of them but I am curious as to why we would get that message.
Anyone with any ideas?

didn't plan on using it to be honest, I just was confused by the message. didn't know a carrier could restrict an app like that (or atleast I think that's what's goin on) and don't really like it.

I got the Plus version and I love it. Used the default settings and get great standby time out of it. Unplugged the phone at 10 this morning, made a couple calls and checked e-mail. Been sitting on the desk about 12 hours and still have 95% battery left.

+1. I love this app. If I leave mobile data running, battery life on this phone sucks. With it I run schedules with mobile data where I can still get emails, and use my phone for more than 6 hrs. Don't know about the installation issues, since I've had it for awhile, just wanted to defend the app for those who feel it's not necessary

I believe they just uploaded v 3 on the market and it may take some time to sort it up.
im not sure who said not to use juice and i really dont care. i have noticed an improvement in my battery life by using it, and i am talking hours. If you shell out the money for the ultimate version you can take control over every power eating aspect of your phone. +1 to the developer

Which firmware are you running?
There's a known issue that the Market hasn't been updated to handle the UCKK6 (AT&T OTA update) fingerprint yet.
So apparently my battery drain/overheat problem has to do with a defective phone
so since its only been 2 weeks since I had this phone. I'm going to try and
exchange it for a new one and see I still have the issues.
I thought it was more of the new radio/firmware problem but from reading from
what some devs says its a bad phone.
cant be your phone .. ive had those issues time to time since installing the new firmware. and ive had this phone since november.

If you're on the east coast, midnight is coming up. Check it. To test, just have your phone locked and screen off at midnight, and watch it. It doesn't reboot.. just flashes on and off quickly.
It's quite possible there is an app I have installed that is doing this, so tonight I plan on checking it with logcat. I'll report my findings afterward (PST).
You sure its not notifying you something but I would go with the posses idea. I see dead people comes to mind.

doh! i was coding and forgot to plug in and check logcat. tune in tomorrow. sorry.
Its probably some app scheduled to do something at midnight over your wifi.
I know my Captivate used to do the same thing, any time the wifi was used, the screen would turn on briefly (less than a second) and turn off the screen while doing whatever it was doing over the wifi (like Beyondpod when it went to update my podcasts, the screen blinked on/off, then immediately after the screen turned off, it started checking for new episodes and downloading).
So it's either APOD, or it's my system. Those are the only two culprits. I'll uninstall APOD and report back tomorrow.
In all of my years using Android I have never seen a full on kernel panic dump screen. I saw it this morning while installing swype beta on my phone running jbsnow's jellybean port.
Should I return my phone for a new one?

Yeah, I think a lot of us rooted users on custom ROM's have at least # it once. I've never heard of it being fatal or that anyone couldn't get the phone out of it. I know it's a scary SOB when it pops up though!

Jank4AU,
PM'd you, sir.
Happened to me when the phone was new all the time, including before I'd rooted it. Gradually happened less and less. Now I can't remember the last time it happened. A few weeks? Over a month? In any case, don't worry about it too much. Mine was the black kernel crash screen though. I think I've only had the yellow screen once.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I'm pretty sure it happens on that rom because of a glitch in the WiFi part of the kernel. When I was running it I just set the WiFi band to 2.4 only (instead of 5) which fixed it for me.

I still can't figure out why the idiot that wrote that error message couldn't tell his up button from his down button.
I wouldn't worry about it. It should not affect anything. I will try to see what it is and fix it in the next version though.

That happens because we are using the n4 aboot. Our hardware differs from the n4 where our up is the opposite key of their up, so it gives that bug.

if it means anything, i got that screen whilst using TheBase.73
and thanks for the explanation.
The demi-god yellow screen? I've gotten that months before using a JB rom.
I've seen it twice, and they happened when I was playing Ingress on my phone while either using WiFi or GPS. I was either rooted+stock or running The Base.
I can honestly say I've never seen this. I got a black screen kernel panic from UVing too far on The Base but that's about it.

Did you find a ROM or fix that works with Ingress on this phone?
I've had it freak out while trying to drop an item or select a xmp to fire.
I usually play on another phone, but I have to send it in for repairs so my Optimus G is my only phone for a week or so and I'd love full functionality in the game.

If it did the same thing with a stock rom, it might be a problem with the phone. I'm using the i605 and I've been on beans build 10 and i have never had a delay problem.
How long is the delay usually?
The delay is almost un noticable. I would guess less than half a second. But there is a slight delay.

Well then even if that's the problem I guess we get to live with it. I know it's been talked about a lot here too. Never heard it was JB.
Oh well I'm far from important enough to need my phone so fast that a half second delay is gonna be a problem.

Thanks for your replies. I am not really annoyed by this. It only seems to do it when the phone has been at idle for a while. Its not something I would knock this phone for. This things a beast so I can live with a tiny delay. Haha. Thanks again and hope that maybe itll get fixed in either official 4.2 or maybe key lime

i got rid of the unlock delay by disabling the lock screen...been using my n2 this way for a month now. no pocket dialing or anything random...actually dont think i could go back to using a lock screen.
afaik it's an exynos issue. you can do a few things to get the most out of it, but the processor will always take a second to pull itself out of deep sleep.
