Has anybody managed to change the key press sounds on the dialer? Would prefer the more traditional tone ala ex dialer (but want to keep standard dialer)

Go to system/media/audio/ui , find the sound you want and replace ιt with with one of your choice.
you need root and a root explorer

SecContacts.apk\res\raw\touch.ogg
What about the touch screen sound? Is it the same one? If it's in the apk tham means decompiling/recompiling etc, right?

Hey guys I was wondering if there was anyway to change the stock smilies. For example the stock smiley face is and I'd like to take away the stupid nose in all them if that's possible like this . Thanks in advance

There is probobly an easier method than what i am going to say but one way is to open up your system/app/systemui.apk and change out the smiley files. i believe they are in drawable-mdpi for most devices
I also would like to know how to do this, that method seems a little too complicated for me.

You can change them with the UOT Kitchen online . Plus you can change ( customize ) a lot of other stuff also.

If I'm correct, UOT only lets you change the little icons, the pictures, what I'm looking for is to change the output of pressing the smiley face button, as in instead of outputting , I want

from the ARC
Okay thanks....I've Google it and the only thing that comes up is to turn on or off the animation. I'll look into it more

try just using GOSMS app if you dont want to play around with files.
Its better than the stock messaging app. And it replaces all the smilies with more normal ones. Its free too.
I think the smileys and the noses may be located in the keyboard itself? Because I modded the mms. Apk and changed them and it worked they show up right, but the keyboard still has the noses

Its not flashable. What if you install under /system/app/

Negative. Will not install while device is on.
1. On the Sense dialer screen, press the 3-dot menu button where the key entries show up
2. Select Full screen keypad
3. Profit

My god, I didn't think HTC could make the dialer any worse.... yup there it is...
Get a nexus.... Problem solved.

Even if we can't get a stock dialer, a good contacts manager would be awesome. Any ideas? All that it needs is to sync with google contacts.
Flash the Following
Just do a Nandroid and then try flashing the AOSP Dialer zip file linked under the Downloads section of Super Charged rom. I am using it and it works fine. It still left the Sense MMS, Dialer, Contacts, etc. for me, just added the AOSP as well. You can have both on at same time.

I've seen flashable mods come out for previous phones that also have this horrible splash/drop/drip DTMF tone for each key. Can these be changed to stock sounds for Touchwiz ROMs for the S4? That noise is so stupid and most people don't want to have to replace the phone app for crappy third party ones..
Please someone try!!
Thanks!
Anyone know if this is possible??
Well you can disable the sound altogether, but I am unaware of a way to easily have the dtmf tones play when dialing.
To disable the sounds when dialing from the dialer ....
Menu - call settings - ringtones and keypad tones - uncheck keypad tones

Yeah I have mine disabled for now, but really really would like to have stock sounds for each key! Thanks.
So no one can even confirm if it can be done? Damn that really sucks for us on stock or stock modded roms...

Man, those "drips" have to be the worst.
All you do is get an aosp rom navigate to system/media/ui and copy all those files to your rom and reboot and you'll have the stock aosp sounds.

I think its more complicated than that. There is only one drip sound mapped to all keys stock... To get the stock real tones they would somehow have to be mapped (correct tone to correct number key). I wish it were that easy..

What happens with the Samsung guys ? The sound of water drops is well but outside the dial pad. I want to return the original dial tones!!
I hate the drop sound in the Dialer.
This is my theory: With each key having its own unique sound you subconsciously learn those sounds.
Haven't you ever dialed a number and immediately realized that you hit a wrong key just by the sound from the key?
I'll probably get flamed for this but I really believe this.

I bump this request looking for the same thing, isnt android supposed to be all nice and open
is it really not possible to get the dial tones on touchwiz dialer?
I just downloaded some different sound packs(ie miui sounds) from the galaxy nexus section and did it manually. They're all found in /system/media/audio/ui

But I tried replacing every sound file in there that could have been the dial tones and no matter what, the sounds stay the same. Can you elaborate?

yeah dont you just love it when someone conveniantly doesnt post how they did it
now its possible but I think would be to replace the entire dialer app. eg on chaos rom can use aosp dialer on touchwiz rom but then lose the touchwiz style contacts and in call dialer interface.
for all the customisations done on roms, people dont seem to like changing the dialer.

I agree on the Howto instructions needed.
I have changed every ogg file the sounds like the stock water drip and the drip is still played.
I know where system/media/audio/ui is how to replace any of the ogg files but that does not seem to change anything.

I don't think apps do that...that's more of an operating system thing...unless you search for some launchers on the Google play market....but don't forget to also download a launcher/home switcher if you want to use the previous launcher back again
but if you really want customizable features..you may need to get a custom ROM. thus rooting may be compulsory during the procedure

are there any launchers that can adopt the deafult icon placement system as the way it has been placed in the stock lik all my icons should b in the same order without me arranging it???
not sure what you mean by "default icon placement system" do you mean icons on the home screens?? if yes then I think you may have to re add them... have you heard of Go Launcher??? very famous..go see it in action maybe on YouTube if available....I think it's one of the most customizable and supports themes too

I am referring to the bubbles but i was thinking of modding the colors of them like a dark red with black lettering or something of that sort. to bring more customization to the phone without sacrificing the features I use in the stock sms for a 3rd party.
Bump. Where are the files at so we can mod them?
