[Q] unknown csc & "emergency calls only" andter jelly bean update - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have updated my S3 with the 4.1.1 jelly bean version. After that the baseband stopped working, i am able to call emergency calls only. Unfortunately i don't know the region and the CSC number of the phone.
How can i fix the problem? Is it possible to find the original region / CSC number from the imei and the serial number? Or my phone is bricked?
All info i have: 4.0.4 version and I9300XXLF5
Thank You,

Flash your regions csc might some it. download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198512

Hello,
I don't know the original csc number and region.
Is it possible to decode from the imei and serial number? Or it doesn't care which CSC/baseband/Firmware flashed to the phone?

(IMEI is ok)
(I don't know which modem is correct? I think i flashed the wrong region firmware.
(How can i do that?) Network details
(Unfortunately i don't have any backup)

Where do you live? Google your country CSC code, use link from earlier post and flash it. Get matching modem from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28033515 and install it.

I have succesfully downgraded to 4.0.4, IMEI, baseband, csc is ok. But the phone is rejected from the network after a few seconds. What is the problem?
Thank You,

Hello,
I think the APN isn't tuched yet. The correct APN settign is needed for the correct working? Is the phone registered through data channel EDGE/HSDPA? Should i config the APN settigs related to the actual network provider?
Thanks,

yes .. but why ?
IMEI - removed
Sorry, remove your imei number from the post... I was asking in case your EFS had corrupted. Maybe I should have been a bit more clear lol.
If you go in About > Status, check if the IMEI shows up.
When you flashed the phone, did it also update your radio? What is the baseband version?
Edit and delete that emei!! That's for you only ;-)

YES IMEI is showing over there
dun know abt Radio ... and are u asking about baseband ver. before or now ?
now it is I9100XXKL1
Why dont you try different modems for your country or a custom ROM that has your countries CSC also.
And you've tried already to turn off airplane mode? If not, try that and just let me know if it's giving you Emergency Only or just not connecting to the network at all. Were you using it OK before? Downgrade your radio if ever
reboot couple of times and if you rebooted while charging then remove charger and reboot
Thxx all .. Problem was solved .. Jst changed my modem and it was all set ..

network not work

greeting
I Downloaded a stock rom from SamMobile (I installed with odin) and no longer connect to the mobile network
(January 2013 4.1.2 I9300XXELLA I9300OXFELL1)
I reinstalled the original ROM (all of SamMobile) and now can not connect at all to the mobile network
(January 2013 4.1.2 I9300XXELLA I9300VFGELL3)
I tried with (pacman rom) and still do not want to find the mobile network (everything else works)
in the SamMobile download is a dll should be placed somewhere? where?
what I did wrong and how to fix?

ok, what should see or know?
I can not figure out what to check?
please can you be more specific?
thanks
R: network not work
To check imei go to settings>about>phone state (raw translation from italian but it cant be too different). I believe glebun is suggesting u seriously f***ked up ure phone, so u should check what imei u got and post it here.
In this phone (gs3) some things about the network are closely connected to the kernel...such as mac address...
have u tried chamging it before? Or changing phone's network name or ip?
try flashing a different kernel...also you've never touched the phone's modem before right?

Check your APN settings match your carriers aswell...

Google "how to check imei". how hard is that?
Check also the modem version, if the one provided with the new Rom is not compatible with your phone networks it can explain it. Even if afaik jb modems are less sources of issues than ics ones. Most of the time custom roms come without modem.
There is a modem correction thread in general section.
But first check that your imei was not wiped.
Type *#06# on the stock dialer.
If the IMEI has been wiped, it's the EFS problem then. Only service centre. Don't think you could solve it youself

I9300UBEMH2 Unbranded Chile 4.1.2, I'm chilean, no signal

I updated my S3 to I9300UBEMH2 which is the official rom for my country. I came from XXEMG4 (I didn't have signal with this firmware). I thought upgrading would fix the Cannot register to Network problem but it didn't. It's strange as this firmware is the stock for my country. My IMEI and SN are OK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Usual is
Wrong APN settings .
or
Wrong Modem Wrong CSC.

APN and Modem are correct. I really don't understand what is the problem damn phone.
Sometime your device will give a generic IMEI, it can't be used
Compare the IMEI in the status and IMEI in the back of your phone after removing the battery.
You can try Archie's emergency zip. It will change your modem to MG4 without changing the RIL, remember to backup first

My IMEI is correct. That's why I don't understand whats the problem. Thanks
as you can see MG4 and MH2 have different modems, so when you pass from MG4 to MH2 the modem was changed and something went wrong.
Have you checked the SIM card in another phone?
Maybe there is something wrong with it.
And BTW, do you have an EFS backup?

Yes, currently Im using an iPhone with no problem. I've tried others SIM in my phone and nothing. I only backed up when I was on XXEMG4, but not before that.
Thanks
did you receive the MG4 update via kies or OTA or flashed it via Odin?

Via OTA, MH2 via odin
regardless if the firmware came ota or he flashed it himself with odin. op states imei is correct and apn is also correct. that probably means the serial number is wrong. marracing, have a look under the battery and see if serial number matches the one in your phone settings. if not than that is why you cant connect to network.

The serial number matches with the one under the battery. This is very strange. I don't know what else to do.
have you tried to reset the apn to default? if you did that already than you need to speak with your carrier, maybe you are not registered on their network because of an issue on their end. if still cannot resolve than take the phone to a service center. good luck
When I first bought the phone (bought it in the US) it came with some German apps (one called Bild is the only one I remember). It has something to do with this issue?
Thanks!
Still can't register to network. Maybe it's blacklisted?

[Q] Galaxy s3: No WLAN and no Mobile Network

Hi,
I bought a used S3, with a small crack in the screen. Otherwise the phone should work.
When I got it, i reset it to factory settings, because it wasn't.
After reboot, the phone worked, but I can't go online with WIFI or Mobile Network. I also can't phone with it, it found no Carrier!
I flashed some other original Samsung ROMS with odin, but it doesn't help.
If I activate Wifi Tethering, I can see the S3 in my WIFI Network.
I can see the IMEI in the settings. It is the correct IMEI, I compared it with the IMEI on the cover and on the bill.
Can anybody help me?
thanks in advance

Hi,
I suggest the same, but I thought, that I put the convenient firmwares on the phone with the official Image.
In every Image I tried, there was a modem.bin The IMEI is ok, so I hope the /efs is not corrupt.
I never rooted the phone,....
Maybe a custom ROM can help?
thanks in advance

Hi,
I recognized the the wifi is ok if I am close enough
to the wifi router (10cm), maybe the mobile network is also ok if I
close enough to the sender.
Do I have problemls with the antenna?
