Where is Samsung Galaxy Mega forum? - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Can't find it. Very interested in this phablet.

I am also very interested in the Galaxy Mega particularly the 6.3. There should be a forum on it as developers can start tinkering with the kernel source for the Mega 6.3 and the firmware of the Mega 5.8.
I always make sure I can get root and CWM on Android phones/tablets before I buy on and having a forum would be nice. I opened a discussion thread about the Mega 6.3 if anyone else wants to talk about it.

I can't wait to see what the dev community can do with those devices.

Make your request here.

Mega 6.3
The phone is going to be launched in two weeks here in India
I cant wait to get the 6.3 mega , :fingers-crossed:
but.. somehow just a lil worried if that massive thing is not gonna fit in my pockets.
Hey any one has an idea if Xda will open a new forum for the Mega devices?
I really would like to root the mega.. and use a tablet interface on it..
Things would be so so so much easier..
I really hope the XDA team can open a new forum.

My biggest concern...
I just ordered my Mega 6.3 - as a long-standing Note II user, I feel this will be the ideal size. I already have the Huawei Ascend Mate 6.1, however I quickly sold the ASUS Fonepad - too big and cumbersome.
My biggest concern, is that I am a HEAVY apps user - I use my phone for work, and I am a systems engineer. With only 8GB of primary storage, after the OS and proprietary software, how much will be left? Then, even with a 64GB MicroSD, without the ability to install apps2sd or switch primary memory storage (without root), how usable will this really be? Hopefully I can find a good workaround that will not require root, but we shall see

First make your request here.

I bought 6.3 and I think this one is gonna be a big hit.
It is the maximum size of smartphone. It will be great for old people or middle-aged people with weak eyesight.
Hope more cROMs can come to this great device.

Also suits deaf people who want a phone sized tablet

Which phone should I get.. This is how I will use it

Truth be told I have been waiting for second gen WP7 devices to hit the canadian market, which doesnt seem to be happening anytime soon. Over the course of the past 3 months I have aquired an Acer Android tablet, sold my ipad and purchased an Android phone for my wife (casual user).
Now I am at the point where I am very tired of my 3 year old BB Curve and I want to start developing for the mobile market (for fun, possibly create custom apps for work, I am in IT)
I come from a Java background 10 years ago, then moved to .NET, which is why I was waiting for a Windows Phone, but has time has passed I have been following Android news and I am strongly considering getting an Android phone.
What I am not clear on is the Nexus line of phones, I guess this line of phones is managed by Google, which then chooses new OEMs as new phone are released? Is this a big benifit when it come to update/App support/ROMs..etc or is it a drawback?
Also, if you were to choose a phone to fit the following needs/wants, Is the Galaxy II or Galaxy Nexus a better fit (I really want a Samsung phone)
Needs
-Exchange support, not full, but the more ActiveSync features that are supported, the better.
-ROM Access, Id like to play around with ROM/Custimize the phone
-App support, I noticed on my Acer tablet a lot of apps are not available, that we can get on the phone
Wants
- I am stuck with this phonme for 2 years, so being able to upgrade to 5.0 when it comes out would be ideal.
- A Big screen! The softbuttons only on the Nexus is nice
- I want ICS right now, but I dont mind waiting till April when the GII gets it in Canada\
- I want to develop for it, if one is easier to development for (doubt it), it would be good to know.
Thanks, just looking for advice and figured this forum would be good, as I like to mess around with the software side of things, long time reader, first time poster!

Go for the Nexus. It will have amazing dev support, and being a nexus is a huge benefit. It it guaranteed to get updates for 2 years, and receives all updates first. Unlocking the bootloader is a simple command throught the terminal emulator. Dev wise...you just can't go wrong with that phone.
Galaxy Nexus if your planning to dev as that's what its really made for as boot loader can be unlocked easily an it will have the next Android version guaranteed.

another vote for Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus
you can also subscribe to the Samsung Developer program, to get loaner phones for DEVing
Thanks, looks like Nexus is the way to go
Thanks for the info, Is there a reference blog/document that outlines why the Nexus devices are special and what you get, not that I dont trust you all .
Just search google or whatever. There are multiple blogs that detail all the abilities of the Google Nexus. Again though, for what you're wanting the Nexus is going to be the best thing kicking right now. Easy unlockable bootloader and the ability to take updates immediately if you like.
If you're going to develop you might want to check out www.thenewboston.com He starts at the very beginning of basic development and gets as advanced as you like more or less. Great resource.
Nexus is a great choice for you.
samsung 9100
Get the iPhone 4 and jailbreak it.
Galaxy Nexus. It will last you years because its a google phone and will always receive updates first. Plus, they have the highest dev support.

I find the IPhone way too small to type on + I want to stand out . If people use an on screen keyboard I dont understand how people can be productive with such a small phone. I work with a lot of Iphones due to clients purchasing them, so I have been able to test them thoroughly.
Nexus or Galaxy S2
If you want a big phone get the Samsung Galaxy Note.

SGS II for sure!

Worth trading in i9300 for i9305?

I've recently bought a Nexus 4 and although my S3 is superior in many ways, I cannot ignore the benefits of 2GB RAM over 1GB.
I'm not keeping the N4, but I'm considering selling my i9300 and buying an i9305.
Only problem is, there ain't much in the way of development or custom ROMs.
I know that phone was only released a couple of months ago, but is the dev scene likely to pick up, or will it stay minimal like it is now?

If you think that 1GB more ram and lte worth the upgrade do it.In my honest opinion,it doesn't worth it. I always close all the apps that are ram-eaters in order to save more battery. As a result 1GB more ram seem useless to me.Also I don't need lte. If you want to have many apps running in the background and/or lte you should upgrade but only If you can afford to pay the difference.
IMHO, active development is a great consideration when I choose a phone.
We don't live in a perfect world and bugs can occur, and sometime the companies are too lazy/doesn't give a **** about the users and don't fix the problem. This is why it's always good to choose a popular device that gets a lot of attention - and developers.
I also think that Samsung made a mistake when they released this phone with 1gb ram, when only 800mb is available and the system takes 400mb after clearing the ram, and they got a lot of annoying bugs. If N4 had a sd card slot I would sell my SGS3, get N4 and even making some profit on the way.
To sum up, I think you should stay with SGS3 or get another device with more ram and active development. My previous phone was SGS1 and it was really great. I wanted to upgrade myself and put a lot of money to buy SGS3, and I'm not 100% happy with this choice, and I'm 100% sure that my next device won't be Samsung because they really don't give a **** about the users and released a not so polished phone.
If you can trade it, go for it. Any person can delete stock Samsung APKs from /system/app, change graphics in APKs, use smali modifications published on the Internet, run it through dsixda's Kitchen to re-ODEX (if desired) and release it as an, uhm, new ROM.
You can get properly developed stuff like the Perseus kernel for the GT-I9305 and JKay's brilliant framework is said to run unofficially on the I9305.

Back to Note 2 for now

Tried the Mega for a few days, liked a number of things, but I find it's too big for a phone (doesn't bug me too much tho) and too small for a useable tablet (does kinda bug me). I liked the LCD screen's outdoor brightness, and it's the best phone around for the price, no question, but Sammy unexpectedly replaced my broken Note 2 with a new one for free so I'm gonna roll with it for awhile and lose the Mega. Fun experiment though...
Cheers
Ok bye bye

I have both Note2 & Mega 6.3
one hand operation on Mega bit hard for me but
I prefer Mega 6.3 for daily use
I Had a note 1, that I have retired to buy a mega .
I have mixed feelings about it, in doors , it has the perfect size , just perfect. using it landscape is a must fast and zippy specially after root and debloat , battery life is amazing especially with a screen this big.
When I bought it I tought I was going to pass this iteration of the note. I was wrong , will be buying note 3 next month.
This is why , from important to not so important :
outside: the mega is just a bit to mega it is just to long, you hold it and it protrudes way to much out of your hands, it gives me the feeling that everybody is watching what i am doing . Since I have the mega when in public I rarely use facebook when I used to use it every min.
It becomes to awkward to use it with one and, I mean sometimes for the most simple things like scrolling, it takes to much concentration to operate when on the go for me..
the camera is utter rubbish. don't even try to compare it (like many reviewers did.. and I went for it ..) to the camera on the note 1 or 2 this 8 mpx snapper is on a completely lower league
this all put together.. and N3 its probably the device for me.
thankyou mega-people
They only reason I miss my Note 2 is all the custom rom's it has. There seems to be hardly any interest in our Mega. I'm probably going to get a Note 3 or S5 early next year.
actually had note 2 then retired it then got s4 and found that too small so started using note 2 again. kept s4 but didnt use it. sold note 2 and upgraded to note 3. didnt like note 3 and hated all the talk off knox bootloader so sold that and bought a Mega. i also had a Sony Z Ultra which i loved so the Mega at £285 was a no brainer. i love it despite the lack of custom roms. that will soon change once we have some device files for it. my friend and i are actually looking into the custom side of things so you never know

[Q] Next phone? :D

Dear mega users,
Almost everyone moves up to another (android?) phone, so my question is:
What is your next phone, and why?
My next phone will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Why? It is very rich on features, has a nice and luxery feeling and is amazingly fast!
Can't wait till I get my hands on it!
Please tell me your opinion
As I am completely satisfied with the performance of my current Mega GT-I9205 I am not going to change it for any new one model, unless... there will be phone with al least same screen size . Last year I have resigned for Mega from Note3 and this year will not change it for Note 4... mostly because of size under 6 inches.
I normally change my phone yearly as I like to keep ahaead of the game and have been looking recently. I had an invite for one plus but I just couldn't drop that much screen size. I was waiting for mega2 but that is going a step backward in size. The note series are great but seriously over priced if you don't make use if s pen daily. But tbh I don't really feel the need now to upgrade. I'm running slimkat which is light and fast. I don't play games so don't need oodles of power the camera is fine for what it is and the screen is perfect for my needs so I may break a habit of a lifetime and keep her for another year

Should I buy a Tab S3 over a S?

Hello,
I have a dying Tab S that I would like to change. I have an opportunity for a Galaxy Tab S3 (SM-T820) for 330 euros. It's a second hand. Bluetooth is not working, else everything is fine.
It seems a goo deal but 2 things are worrying me:
- I don't feel an overall love for the Tab S3 around. Globally, people don't seem satisfy of it. But I can't really say if they don't really like it or because they think it should not be so expensive considering the perfs,
- The second point is almost the same. The community don't care about this model. ie: there are neither official TWRP or LineageOS for this model.
Do you think I should buy a Galaxy Tab S2 instead or stay on my first deal for the S3?
The only reason to buy the S3 right now is to save money in comparison to the S4. The S3 with the optional keyboard will offer almost the same solution as the S4 but without the DeX mode. In addition, in the S3, because the screen is under 10 inches, you would be able to use all the Microsoft Office programs without a license. You would need an Office365 license for the Tab S4. I have the S3 and it works great with almost every application.
However, on the basis that things may get progressively more complex and may need more of a processing muscle, the best option may be to purchase an S4, although I understand that paying anything between $750-850 is not an easy decision
Thanks for your answer
So I finally took the S3 today. It's a second hand (but never have been used)at a good price, else I would not have bought it. I know the S4 will be better but much more expensive and I would not pay so much.
