Hey guys I'm a noob, I've been thinking about it for a long time, since the note 2 uses a Wacom digitizer would it be possible to mod the Wacom digitizer to replace the normal digitizer on the gs3??
Should be fairly simple
haha, genius
I know you guys are mocking me, but seriously it does use a wacom digitizer, which is why the pen won't work on any phone except for the note 2, it should be possible to mod the digitizer and plug it in to the motherboard of the s3 im willing to try this on my s3 if someone can get me going in the right direction

I don't think anyone is going to waste time trying to figure this out when the screen sizes are completely different.....let's face it, if you want a note instead of an s3 wouldn't it just be wiser to buy one in first place? You're never going to get a working phone out of it for the exact reason I illustrated in first place

if someone does commercially sell a modded version of the s3 screen, it would atleast cost 320$ + , which is alot just for a small feature as per me, but maybe your opinion varies.

hey guys getting a vibrant with a cracked digitizer for my g/f. correct me if im wrong but it appears to be next to impossible to replace just the digitizer from what i read.... (please comment if you have done it) i see the i9000 parts are cheaper everywhere but the buttons are different. i wont be running a stock rom on it and i plan on adding a ffc so....
1. would it be physically possible to use the i9000 replacement screen on it?
2. would the buttons be a problem? not sure what the square one on the i9000 is (trackpad?) or where the home button is if there is one....
3. does anyone have a clue or am i the first to bring this up? i have searched my self silly!
4. digitizers are cheap should i just try to replace it? whos done it and what do you glue the new screen with? (i cant find any decent write ups)
i know the i9000 and vibrant have diff roms but im hopping that has to do with the radios etc. maybe i can edit the keyboard file or something to make it work.. but not sure about that pad thing...
i know this is alot of questions and i dont expect one answer. if anyone has any knowledge on any of this id really appreciate it and thanks in advance!!! id like to join the samsung crew as ive always had htc (since g1) but always secretly wanted a samsung too haha so what better excuse than to get the gf one

Sorry to tell you but the i9000 screen wont work at all. You will mess up your phone up big time if you start messing with the screen/digitizer as its one unit. Call samsung repair and that may be your best bet for a new screen replacement.

It's not possible.
Call Samsung, maybe you can get it replaced for free (or really cheap).
I'm guessing that you don't have a warranty with T-Mobile, because they cover this (my screen was damaged, and I got a replacement).
The 'pad thing' is actually a big iPhone style physical home key - it's plasticky and ugly, and the reason I got the Vibrant over the i9000. You definitely won't be able to use i9000 components on the Vibrant, the i9000 screen and digitizer are built to accommodate that button, not the Vibrant's four capacitive keys.
They have the same back, though, so you can use i9000 cases and battery doors just fine.

Well if I used the i9k parts I would swap housing LCD and digitizer all together so the button and everything would be there. I'm pretty sure it would physically go on but not sure if I can get the buttons to actually work. I know you can edit the keypad file as I've done it on my mytouch 4g but not sure if that's all I'd need to do or not :/ figured someone might have been in a situation that they tried it and couldn't hurt to ask. I have warrenty and insurance on my mytouch but I'm buying the broken vibrant out right so I'd think I could buy the parts and put them in myself cheaper than anyone would charge... I've repplaced the screens on several phones already so not a problem there. Guess that's what ill do.
Another thing Id consider is the vibrant 4g screen as it has the spot for the ffc unpainted already and everything else appears identicle but only place I see it for sale there's a min 2 per order >< has anyone ever successfully replaces just the digitizer? Its sold seporate for 35 and I read you need a new ribon as its almost impossible to pull LCD from digitizer without tearing the cable.
Hi, i just wondering if we can replace Samsung Vibrant screen with the Samsung Galaxy S 4G one so that we don't need to manually make a hole for our front facing camera, is that possible?
If so, that would be really awesome.
any body?
I dont see why not except, isnt the screen glued on and wouldn't removing the screen make it impossible to re-attach another
I think u could...as long as u carefully remove the old glue with some goo gone or something like it..but im not sure what kinda glue to use to reattach the screen

Can we use an entire LCD/Digitizer/Bezel assembly? I'm thinking of buying this

No one knows if the T959V and T959 have interchangeable parts?

I've installed an FFC on my vibrant. You don't need a new screen. You just need to take apart the phone from the back. The bezel doesn't even have to come off. Get yourself a Revision 2 FFC and when you go to install it, the only thing you'll need is a guitar pick (works great) or another safe prying tool to take the phone apart, Goo-Gone and Q-Tips. The hardest part of the whole process is the amount of time you'll be sitting there taking the black paint off the screen with the Goo-Gone. It's taken me about 30 minutes on two phones I've done. The hole is already there. Your phone will look just like the Galaxy S 4G!
Thanks for the reply, but the Vibrant my friend gave me has a cracked screen and bezel that I have to replace anyway. I figured it might be easier to just buy a new screen with a camera hole already (which the T959V does have) than to scrape out one.
Also what rom do you recommend? Seems they all have problems - unstable, no 911, no gps etc.

as far as roms go for 911, only the Cyangen based roms have that issue, gps fonuctions on almost all 2.3 roms, and all 2.1/2.2 roms. stability really seems based on the device. i use Miui as a daily driver, yet i see people complain about issues that in the 5 months of running it I have never personally experienced.

I know this is really late and a bit off topic to be honest, but to anyone interested, I just used a LCD/Digitizer/Bezel/microphone/antennae assembly out of a Vibrant to put in my SGS4G. Different application, but I'm sure it'll work the same given the circumstances of any one still wanting to put a front facing camera in their Vibrant. The only difference is I had to switch out the ear piece/audio jack/proximity sensor assembly because it had a different connector on the board. This is the lazy fix for someone who has both phones, but needs to swap out certain parts. In my case it was the entire screen and bezel, but this confirms the OP's question, yes it will work.
Just thought I post results since I came to this thread in the first place looking for answers.
I just got the phone this morning and I had it in my pocket, I have touched the wall by mistake and I heard a "crack" sound... yes, it was the screen of my brand new phone. The Galaxy S3 is very fragile, I still have my (1 year old) Galaxy S2 and that one survived to many accidents. This one I would not recommend... the screen is too fragile... now back to the subject, does anyone know any good service near London or a site were I can buy a new screen?
Thank you!
Can't answer your question about service but I know what you mean about the S2 screen. Months ago I jumped on my S2's screen three times in a row really hard because I was peed of with it and it never cracked. Wish they stayed with the original glass on S3 as S2.
its the size of the screen that makes it weaker... all the big screen phones are much easier to break.. the s2 was a strong phone but stretching to the 4.8 screen on the s3 has made it weaker
There is 2 places in wimbledon that will do it . You can walk in and wait while it's done . But you'll have to make sure they have what you need in ...
Giving it some beans on my blue s3

I managed to sell it like that and buy a fresh one with a good case on it, I hope it will last longer!
Thank you!
I've only had my used atrix for 3 months and the digitzer already has went out on me two lines on the screen that don't respnd to touch which makes the phone hard to use. I really do like the phone and it compares rather well to most of the phones out there today for being so old. My question is will the digitizer just go bad again if I replace it like I've been hearing?
Move on not worth it .
I had one atrix that happened the same thing. From what I've read around, not worth it. Usually problem comes back. I would rather sell it and buy another phone. IMHO.
Ok thanks guess ill upgrade to the galaxy s3 I've been wanting for a while.

So no help anyone?
I don't think its safe to attempt a screen repair without something like a blow dryer. There are plenty of threads and videos showing how to do the screen repair but I have always seen them use a blow dryer. Sorry I can't be of more help, in case you haven't seen the video I'm speaking of ill post it. Here is the video everyone goes to in order to replace the screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLUl9tlHSik&feature=youtube_gdata_player.
Found this video as well, this guy removed it with no blow dryer but he had stand alone replacement screen l, here it is if you wanna check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H_g4l2_AuQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

It is extremely difficult to replace the screen without buying a digitizer and screen set. A special machine puts the screen and digitizer extremly close together making it almost impossible to take the screen and digitizer apart without breaking the digitizer. Its better just to replace both

If the phone you bought has a working digitizer and a working LCD, you don't even need to use a heat gun. You can just take the whole LCD+digitizer assembly out of the phone you bought (or opposite, because you open the phone from the back side and you take all components out until you are left with just the screen assembly). Then you can put your Vibrants parts there instead.

You can't flash a t959v ROM with front camera. Although if you'll find an i9000 ROM you like I'll get permission from the dev hopefully and port you one son that from facing works. You are talking about a vibrant with FFC right?

I'm pretty sure most custom Roms support a FFC now, there are Froyo Roms that support a FFC so I'm willing to bet a JB ROM will. If for some reason you have trouble you can check this thread out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945791
