Hello all. Im looking for a good rom for an i535 that supports multi window use. I tried synergy and it would have been perfect but none of my Verizon apps work and NFL mobile is probably my most used app. That was the deal breaker for me im a big fan of beans rom but he doesn't offer multi window. Any other suggestions out there. Looking for something stable too.

Did you ever find one? I have also tried Synergy but it did not work for me. It would be nice to find a rom that is pretty much completely stock with the multi window feature added.

I Synergy was the best rom I found, my for some reason my messaging app doesn't work as it should.

I found exactly what I was looking for. The recent update to iB4STiD's MDOB rom is based off the latest VRBMD3 OTA. It is stock Touchwiz, bloat removed, with multiwindow built in. I'm sure with the VRBMD3 update we are going to see a lot more new roms that include multiwindow. Lets wait and see, but for now in my opinion this is the fastest, most stable rom out with the multiwindow feature.

Of they are only apks & libs you could extract them from a stock Rom and put them into yours I guess.

What is the ROM based on?
Is it Sammy or an AOKP based ROM?
If it's Samsung Based, I could take a Titanium Backup of it and send it across to you.

It's ReVolt ROM running AOKP (Whatever that is?) according to the Settings menu.

If it is not Samsung based but aokp it won't work as it needs Samsung framework.

Damn.... why is it the "perfect" ROM never exists. I've been flashing since windows 6.0 and NEVER found a ROM that's 100%
Guess I'll have to look for market place alternatives then.

Try null Rom, using it now for some time and it combines somehow aokp and Samsung features quite well

There is no single perfect rom for everyone.. Everyone is different and has different needs or "cravings"
Thats also why there's so many custom roms out there, to fit your needs (sometimes) If you cant find one, go with stock or learn to make your own.
I just switched to Carbon 1.5 and I would like the default Samsung camera and keyboard app. Is there a place I can download them from?

and that's the reason I can't switch over to CM10.1 or PacRom. I really like the keyboard and the camera with all its features. But dang, I want my CM roms.

After a few hours on the Carbon ROM, I forgot about most of the TW features I liked. Seems you can get all the functionality you want from apps from the store. I say try an AOSP ROM for a few days, worst case you have to flash back, but I don't think I am going back to a TW based ROM again.
Coming from the GNEX and Killrom and Eclipse and all the other goodies over there, I truly do like the ASOP/AKOP roms. I just like that keyboard. And while swiftkey is right in front with keyboards, it just seems to be missing that little something. I don't know. I'm getting all the ones I want to try, and will probably blow through several different ones before I decide. It just takes so long to restore and get everything set up. :silly:

You can't. Those only work on touchwiz roms. Eclipse is aosp

You can install apps from the market that are just as good. I use Quill as spen note taking app.

Look around and you will find several equivalent apps to replace the "S" ones.

But I couldn't write on a photo. Thats an spen feature I miss. But I'm sure theres a replacement available.

Hello i am currently trying to get the 4.2 Photosphere camera to work with our phone but have had no luck... It force closes and breaks. Sometimes i even get the message "Camera not found." I have tried to get a logcat but there is literally so much spam going on with my current Touchwiz rom that i find it a waste of time to comb through it or upload it. When I finally flash a AOSP rom i will try again and upload a logcat. Here is a tutorial with i found to be complete crap and lies...

They said it works when obviously it doesnt. I noticed they they installed in on the international version with the 8-Core and we are using the Quad Core model. Maybe that is the reason.

Yeah, I would be curious if it worked on an current device w/ aosp or AOKP rom, as opposed to a tw rom. I really think that tw screws the photosphere up...idk...a few more flashes and I'll know. BTW, got a link to the photosphere app? I lost mine on backup and for the life of me, I can't remember where I got a good version of it...

I tried Carbon rom and it did not work there also, i believe that is built off of Cyanogenmod so i'm pretty sure its something to do with our device specifically... but what do i know. thats why i asked this question in the first place.
Google hasn't released the code for photosphere so its buggy on aosp ROMs
ill be glad to try it out when they do. why wouldnt they have something like this ready for such a great phone?

Bump i would like to see some more progress.
I see that in the SlimBean rom he has a Addon for Photosphere but i dont think it is compatible with our phone =/
Also the AOSP Roms have the GalleryGoogle.apk that work but stripped of the photosphere... come on people someone has to know how to fix this.

Samsung is saving "S-orb" to be released as a feature of the galaxy note III. We'll get an update adding it then.

Yes this does work on the DNA i have also confirmed this... but it does force close on our S4. I have checked that zip against a couple other zips i have found the the md5's have checked out and are the same.
Also changing the build prop does nothing to stop the crashing.

also i have heard that if you have any other version of Gallery.. aka Gallery2.apk you may have to delete that first to get it to work.

Yeah, I don't know which rom you are using, but on my rom I ended up with two gallery's and two camera's, which makes sense sort of. One gallery and camera for tw and one gallery and camera for 4.3 photosphere. I chose to leave them, but to each his own...
Here is a guide to install the samsung apps that you want to your phone.
This isn't everything. Just the ones that were not included with Scotts CleanRom. I need a dev or others to help me get other APK's like for camera and dialer.... things that were already installed on clean rom. - but this should work for some others.
I am no developer, just a flashaholic. if someone can go through these and help me pick out the ones that are "needed" and add others, it would be very much appreciated.
This works with adding SOME other apk's as well
1. Download the zip - HERE
2. Extract the zip
3. All Samsung Apps -> System -> App
4. Delete the apk's you don't want
5. Archive the Meta-inf and System folders
6. Reboot and flash the new zip
7. GOLD!!!!
8. help a dev and donate to them or at least THANK Them

The Google edition firmware is not AOSP, it is, for lack of a better description, TW firmware without any of the TW visual frameworks or assets. In this sense, think of TW as Samsung's compiled android code, not a UI.

This is kind of what we've been clamoring for for a long time, yes: optimized Samsung kernel/code, AOSP app/visual framework. It still doesn't quite solve the timely updates issue, as so much of that is muddled by OEM testing, and especially in this country carrier testing, but it's a step in the right direction, because the amount of app/framework development for a newer version is cut down by only having Google apps.

I had made a TiBu backup and restored a couple TW apps that I liked. The stock camera wont work though. I see it's not included in the zip file in the OP. Hope someone gets a working apk soon.
