Anyone have an apk for the stock JB messaging (SMS/MMS) app? Oddly enough I prefer the UI on it to ChompSMS or even the AOSP one (probably the only one there!), but my Google-fu must be lacking as all I can find are ones from earlier Optimus phones.

You could try copying this to system/app and setting permissions, I'm not quite sure if it'll work, but it's worth a shot.

Didn't work, as "an existing package with the same name and same signature is already installed"
Sorry for being such a noob, but how could I remove the AOSP version? I've always removed bloat by just flashing a ROM that didn't have it, but I like this one..

If you are on the RootBox ROM, I don't think the LG MMS app will work, it probably needs some of LG's framework, which isn't in RootBox.
You could always try to use a file explorer to rename the MMS.apk in /system/app to MMS.apk.bak.
You can then try to copy the LGMms3.apk to the same folder and make sure you set the permissions and reboot. You won't be able to install it just by clicking on it because it is a system app. But again, I don't think it will work.

It won't replace superuser. You have to manually uninstall that. But you don't need to, I think you can have both at once.
Chainfire said:
As you may know, I make a lot of apps that use or require root. I also release rooted kernels. I run into a lot of issues with existing Superuser tools. More importantly, a lot of my users run into these issues as well and then email me about it. So I decided to do something about this. Doesn't mean these were problems you have ever seen, or will ever see.
And thus, I have written - pretty much from scratch - SuperSU. I have taken the su binary command line parameter parsing from Superuser, to make sure that is compatible. Aside from that, it is completely rewritten, because how I wanted to do a number of things was incompatible with the existing codebase.
This is not a stab at ChainsDD, or his skills. He has done great work and will no doubt continue to do so, however, I felt the need for some of these changes, and thus made them. This is an early release, so I expect there will be some unforseen issues somewhere.
From now on, all CF-Root and Mobile ODIN Pro (EverRoot) releases will be built around SuperSU.
Please note that SuperSU is not hardened-security-tested or reviewed, and may be exploitable (... as may other solutions ...).

APK alone won't be enough. There are some needed libs in order for this to work.
Guess we'll just have to wait till someone ports it to our Note.

Instructions are simple:
"replace original SamsungCamera.apk in system\app\ with this one using e.g. “Root explorer” or something… You need a rooted Device!"
Since it's just an apk, there shouldn't any harm in just testing it out -- just be sure to make a nandroid backup and be prepared to use adb to push the original SamsungCamera.apk back to /system/app if it causes any sort of bootloop/fails.
My suspicion is that it does rely on some of the S3's unique framework or lib files, and the camera hardware itself is also different, so it probably won't "just work"... but ya never know! lol
I also posted on HyperX's site to see if he has any interest in getting it ported to our i717...

I don't understand. I use Rom toolbox constantly to change fonts. I even used fonts from toolbox and converted to bold type font.
I'm having this exact same problem so I didn't want to start a new thread. I've tried ROM Toolbox and probably half a dozen other font changing apps and none of them work. They all request (and are granted) su but after rebooting, same stock font. I must be missing something obvious. P769 w/20F rooted.
I believe that it's because LG UI is based off of Sense. If you use the font changer, some browsers font change on Google search. But that's about it.

Well, I do. I believe I can edit some light settings on Sony Vegas 12 (Which I TOTALLY got legally xD) to where the glare on the screen will be.. less dramatic. I'm also considering doing it in a brightly lighted room, so that the glare isn't as dramatic when compared to the dark. I believe it might just work. And I was getting on to ask, after this video, what other content would be useful?

Hi guys..I've tried to edit the sammy keyboard and in particular i've edited in layout/arrays some lines that say 'recognition_time'. The default values were 1000, 300 and I have casually modded them to 100 and 30 (also other lines). I think that something is improved..but I do not know if it is a placebo...
I also asked to @mr.harsh to help me with this little project and I am waiting some infos about smali coding.
Now, can someone of you test my SamusngIME keyboard?
Please, i need testers you just have to download from attachment, copy to system, set perm to rw-r-r (644), reboot and then let me know something! (Do a backup before installing it)
Only for stock sammy firmwares deodexed.
Many thanks in advance, i'll be grateful

The launcher bug would be kinda useful man, I just don't think that having this much space on the phone storage, would one have to move an app to sdcard
Anyway, the problem about Sammy's keyboard is not you, it's Samsung itself, since the keyboard is super laggy when typing anywhere except message...
