[Q] Tips for ZeroLemon 7000 mAh battery - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does anyone know what rom and kernel are best for battery life. i also have the ZeroLemon 7000 mAh battery, and wanting to get the best battery out of it. thanks for all the help in advance

I would suggest you try Perseus and then undervolt the CPU scales to lower power consumption. you can also tweak how it turns off the other unused cores to save power.
as for the rom, you would want to go with one that has all bloatware removed.

[Q] Battery saving ?

What is the best thing to do to keep battery life as long as possible with a single charge?
- kernel setting ? (I am using Calkulin froyo 1.5Ghz version 6)
- some battery saving script?
- some app that I don't know which saves battery life
- And how do i turn low the performance as the battery goes down?
Went to gtabcomb 3.3. really made big difference in batt life. I power completely down at night too.

[Q] Optimum SetCPU settings

Hi everyone,
I'm wholly on NDT MIUI GINGER 2.3.7 MULTILANG SUPPORT V9.0[SiyahKernel2.4.2] ROM. I have SetCPU installed but not really sure how to use it for optimum results.
I'm quite a heavy user, spending a gd 2+hrs worth of music listening to and fro work, at least half of workday of internet browsing and social networking, plenty of messaging and I have my emails on regular push. Currently using this ROM, I get a day's worth of usage before needing to charge at night before going to sleep but I wish to improve it further.
My SetCPU now is on scaling smartassV2 ( i have no idea which to use or what exactly it does, i used it because it sounds cool), everything else on default.
Anyone here can point me in the right direction or guide me on the best settings for my usage?? I see Profiles and Voltages but have no idea what to put in them.
Thank you for any assistance!!
you can try to undervolt and underclock. try to undervolt by decreasing +- 25mV to see how much you CPU can stand. have look here for battery saving tips.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
as for the governors you can learn more from here http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/CPU_Frequency_Scaling
also you can try to buy an extended battery such as the original samsung galaxy s2 battery 2000mah. i am pretty sure it will make a difference.
thanks mariosraptor,
after a day or so on smartassV2, UV of -50mV on each voltage tier, main profile running at 200-800mhz i can say there's is a slight improvement, not much but better.
In the past, when I unplugged from 8am, I will have to charge again by noon. It's not toally drained but I would have used it to around <10% battery before charging. Now I can pull thru till around 3-4pm with the same heavy usage so that's a good few hours' real-world improvement.
I would have gotten the new extended battery if it had been available locally earlier. I bought myself a portable battery pack long before Sammy put that battery on sale. Even so I will prefer to lengthen the lifespan of the phone battery a.k.a charging less often and still get the best out of my phone.
SetCPU really helps but I do not expect much since I suppose no amount of tweaking can ever beat heavy usage. I will share my SetCPU settings here later on. Cheers
You are welcome.

What's the difference in Balance and power saving mode?

Does anyone know what each mode does to the tablet besides the obvious of saving battery?
Also do you recommend downloading Juice Defender to increase battery life?

From what I understand, it adjusts the Tegra 3 processor with how much power to give meaning lower the power selection, the slower the processor will perform but will give you better battery. I believe that is all the power settings are designed to do.
also Juice defender not needed as this device has great battery life. Actually the best battery life of any Android device. Right up there with ipad2.

Is there really a difference in the 3 operating modes?

I haven't tested them thoroughly because I usually have my prime where I cannot charge it, but now that I have a dock I was wondering is there really a difference between "Normal" and "Performance" mode? If so how will this affect my battery life when docked in the keyboard? Will I still get an entire day (5-9 hours) of power using out of it? (Pandora, Youtube, Netflix, Forum browsing, and Web-based Homework)Thanks for any input. Also is there anything I can do to boost the performance as well? I am rooted.

yes there is a difference. its default mode is set to balanced mode @ 1.2Ghz. this is the best of battery and performance. if you want your battery to last extra long, put it on battery savings mode @ 1Ghz. you want ultimate performance, put it on Performance mode @ 1.3Ghz 4 cores or 1.4Ghz on a single core. the different modes does affect battery life alot and performance. but you can have prime on battery savings mode and still stream movies and such with no issues. The biggest key to battery life is brightness. that will determine how long or how fast the battery drains.
if you unsure just leave it on default balanced mode. there will be no task that it can't handle and still give you good battery life. even performance mode gives good battery life but drains at a faster rate since you getting maximum performance out of the prime in that mode.
More Kick
And too add a little more kick to your device here is a simple Overclocking app that works very well. I've used it since I've had my TP (a month or so) and it has never caused issue one.

I gather the OP wants to know more about the battery impact than anything:
Checkout this comparison: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5175/asus-transformer-prime-followup/3
That was during Honeycomb but the modes are the same, they just have a different name. Normal == Performance
As you can see there is very little difference in the battery life between balanced and performance.

Actualy since the latest update, wifi causes about half or more of all battery drain.
