It is a problem with that ROM. I'm on the 04/08/2013 version and am having the same issue. I also have the issue playing videos from the gallery.

Thanks. I thought it was the problem of my phone or youtube app.

Youtube HD apk

A little backround info about the youtube app for the Evo 3D: If you download youtube from google play(doesn't matter if you're rooted or not), it will not play HD(High Definition) video; only HQ(High Quality). If you haven't noticed already, HQ isn't really much different than the normal video. The reason it doesn't play HD is that our device's screen is not technically considered an HD screen because of the pixel density(Evo 3D is qHD:960X540 HD is 1280X720). However, HD videos play fantastically on our device, so Google fails for not allowing youtube to upscale to HD. Fortunately, there's a fix for this. For those of you who want youtube videos to play in 720p HD(not sure why you wouldn't...), instead of crappy HQ, I have a working apk attached. Simply download, put on your sd card, and install like you would any other third party apk, and if you have youtube installed already, or if it came embedded in your rom, just say ok or yes when it asks if you want to replace the system app. I've installed it myself and tested it, and there are no weird bugs, glitches, discoloring, missing lines, cut off portions, weird aspect ratio, etc. It works flawlessly, and any video shot in HD looks crystal clear. Came from beneath-a-burning-turtle's Common Sense 1.7 rom, so thank him, not me.
Wow! What a difference! I thought that the video quality could have been better on YouTube. Now it is. WAY better! Thanks allot!

Great find man, appreciated.
Big difference, I always wanted HD instead of HQ on my E3D. Works on Viper3D GSM.
Thanks

Will this work on the Evo 4G or does it specifically have to be the 3VO?

Awesomeness! Working on MIUI. Just delete the YouTube app in system/app and install normally.

I see no reason why it wouldn't, it's just an apk. Give it a try, if it doesn't work, uninstall it and re-install the one from the play store
Niiiiiice.

Here's my problem.
Once I downloaded it and tried to install it, it gave me an error message saying that the install was not done because a package with the same name already exists.
How do I get past this? Also, how can you move to card after download, but before install? Do you need a pc for that (which I am not by at the present)?

You need to delete the original from system/app, then put the HD one in, and make sure the permissions are set right (rw-r--r--) I recommend using root explorer, its a dollar or two on the market, but its worth it

Go to settings>security and make sure unknown sources is checked then try again. If it says 'this will replace a system app do you still want to install?' click ok and it should install, if not uninstall the youtube that's already on your device, if you can't then just root your phone.
Will I still be able to play 3d YouTube videos using this?

YouTube app

So this seems to occur across all the roms I run including cm and all sense roms. While watching a video it seems to freeze and won't let me pause the video or change the video. I can still move around on the YouTube app but asoon as I click on another video it just freezes and I have to exit. Right now I'm running the new viper Rom and it still comes out. Is anyone else getting this?

Get tubemate.
What all have you tried to fix the issue ?? Is this on wifi or mobile ?? What ver of yt are you running ??
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=LTE
Try deleting cashe or clearing for both YouTube app and stock browser then try again. Worked on my new iPad then tried with CM10.1 and fixed buffering for me.

youtube is working fine for me on deck's cm10.1
I am currently on cm 10.1 but what happens is that when viewing a video it seems to just stop at 52-53 seconds into the video and won't continue. I'm using WiFi and i know its not the WiFi since my roommates can use the YouTube app perfectly on the one x+ and the nexus 7. I have not cleared the caches and I always flash between cm and sense and I wipe everything and on cm you have to manually install YouTube.

Qik Video Chat

Just updated my wife's EVO 4g LTE and noticed that the Video Chat option is gone. WTH is Sprint doing?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I noticed this too, when I tried to download it on my wife's and it was missing. I still had mine installed but said wasn't compatible with my phone. I just uninstalled it and we'll be using Google+ video chat from now on.
Why not just use google talk

What about the Tango app?

YouTube and Facebook not playing nice

Ever since the most recent YouTube update (5.0.21), any time I try to open a link to a video (might be all FLV videos) in Facebook Chat, whether it's the actual Facebook app or Messenger, it doesn't work.
It tries to open in Gallery, and gives me a "Can't play this video" error.
I've tried different ROMs, different kernels, etc... with the same results.
Anyone know why or how to fix this?

So upon installing Showtime, I have decided that it may be my least favorite app ever
On the other hand, I've found that my phone is evidently not even finding YouTube to be an option. I tried clearing defaults, but there were none, and changing it from a system app to a user app didn't help either.

Got exactly the same issue and it's driving me insane. :silly:
Tried everything possible and downgraded to Youtube 4 but nothing is working.

I'm guessing that by this you mean use Wi-Fi Tethering. That not only doesn't make sense, since all that does is allow other devices to use your internet connection, but this problem has nothing to do with connection speed.
When I try to open the link, my phone doesn't recognize YouTube as a compatible app to open it.
