[Q] Restoring Stock FW - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Just the other day I got an HTC Evo from a friend of mine. It is rooted and came with some ROM. I want to restore the stock firmware and start from scratch though. I wasn't sure how to go about this, so I thought I would ask here.

A little more info would be helpful, such as hboot version and baseband (radio).

Ok, I'm new to the Android scene, so I wasn;t sure what info you would need.
Baseband is 2.15.00.12.19
HBOOT is 2.18.0001

First of all are you a CDMA or GSM user?
The people who need the most help seem to make it the most difficult to help them.
For future reference so you don't get flamed for not reading/being lazy...
Please take 30 seconds out of your time to read a sticky.

I think u cant flash stock Rom. Unless u download a custom Rom that is based on stock Rom.

I have not heard this before. But let's say it's true, then the ics upgrade won't be available to anyone on a custom rom.

Where did you hear this?? Are you just playing around with the guy? I hope you're not serious.
@babyschmoof any gsm/cdma rom, even an ruu will not change your s-off status, you'll still be s-off, you'll have to look through the gsm/cdma development section to find a stock rooted Rom, or run an ruu and then root it yourself.

I asked a legitimate question. Are you CMDA or GSM?
I then provided the location to where you can obtain STOCK ROOTED ROMS, that will keep you S-off if you're a CDMA user.
The sticky is in all the Evo 3D forums.
I'll even post the direct link...
Please check stickies first for future reference.

I know your name is lazylu, but if your require help, MORE details, it's not that hard to type.
We can rebuild the evo, faster, stronger, we have the technology, if you ask, your not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Wtf

Why are you asking for help with a LG phone in a HTC Evo 3d sub-forum?
Try looking for help in this area of the forum

Haha I think its the way he worded it. Will helping kill you?
I think he meant will it kill you to help him.
Anyway yeah LG Thrill - yeah you are lost in here --- this is the EVO 3D forums.

Take the battery out and leave it out.
You will never get help unless you actually provide information.

Actually he said he has an EVO 3d also.
Not sure which phone he is having problems with.
He won't say.
Does not know what he did.
Refuses to give any information what-so-ever.
Was told to take the battery out.
Don't know if he's unlocked.
Don't know if he's rooted.
Don't know if GSM or CDMA.
Don't know if he is s-on or s-off.
People have tried to help him but he won't read anything.
Its a lost cause.
This thread should be closed.

My first Evo LTE had a bad screen. so sprint gave me a replacement. the new evo lte comes updated to the latest RUU 1.22.651.3. Is there any way to go back to the stock 1.12.651.3.

From.what I understand this wouldn't work if he has the newest hboot. It won't allow you to ruu backwards or allow ruu when bootloader is unlocked for that matter.

That is correct, but that wasn't what he was asking. He asked if he can still unlock and root. You can unlock, but you can't S-OFF, using HTCdev.com.

Newbie Question - Are you able to flash a sprint evo 3d ROM on evo v 4g?

I'm coming from a HTC one v and I see that is a little more harder to flash a ROM on evo v 4g without out worrying about messing up the radio and the firmwire. Can you let me know ?

This forum might be a good resource for you since there is no Evo V 4G specific forum on XDA.
I have a guide here that will help you get root and S-OFF for the Evo V if you haven't done that already.

For s-on Mikey has been the go to dev. He gives a lot of support to users that are s-on
You can use any ROM while S-On. I know, because I tried them. You can use fastboot with a computer for using the Flash Image GUI app (my preference) and flash the kernel by loading the rom's zip file. Use the search feature on xda and YouTube for better instructions.
Long story short, you're not restricted to Sense Roms as you might want to assume.
