And which rom are you using, that helps a lot when you ask something like that, don't you think? You're looking for the best, fastest kernel? Head over to the development section and try a few for yourself. This's the best way to find which one is better for you, because different people has different needs. Anyway is just my opinion
Try pure kernel, without too many add-ons like dual recovery etc. It's my opinion. Rage or Kernel Panic.

Maybe, you should give the Serenity V3 (ICS) a try. I'm using it and it's giving a really good standby, smooth interface and sound is pretty too.
CM9 if you want walkman and other media apps
CM10 if you don't want sony media stuff (except old walkman and clear audio+)
Dont revive old threads which are not allowed
and dont suggest any rom
Your best bet is to go through the threads, read like a crazy man and determine for yourself, which one is the best. Each ROM can perform differently on individual devices. So what works for someone else may not work for you.

can anyone recommend a good stable kernel and rom for the sony xperia x10, the phone is already rooted, something which has a small foot print and graphically awesome would be good, id very much like to install all my own apps.

but sometimes after i unlock the screen, my phone will reboot without any warning...don't know why? maybe because the OC setting?

I have seen over the Development Thread of NEO/V/ARC/S/PLAY, and about 90% of the ROMs are based on XPERIA Builds and most of them look like each other. Don't you guys get bore with the same interface ?
Its just a suggestion for devs that it would be great to make ROMs with different UIs.

Performance is quite common thing in all the Builds, and Devs focus on performance and whats latest coming on XPERIA devices. We should have a look at other UIs, like HTCs or Touchwiz or Motoblur, and we can make things work because there are lot of ported apps which can work standalone.

Because stock based roms are the most stable roms.. Cyanogenmod, AOKP, Paranoid Android roms are not stable as stock based custom roms.. U can flash touchwiz, motoblur launchers as well for changing the look...

Yes mate! U cant beat it!! The nice icones , the widgets, the home menu, the camera... Its all good!! It just needs tweaking to run nice on our phones!

Hello smashingeeks, no offence but,let the devs decide what UI they would use, devs NEVER forced you to use the rom they built, if you want a new UI badly i suggest you do the ff
1.Buy another brand.
2.Make it yourself
devving is just the way it is, devs spend theyre time not yours plus they never ask for payment but only support and appreciation, if youre a dev. ( like whats in that siggy of yours you should have known this ryt?) so act like A dev respect like a dev!

I rather like clean ROMS with less bloatvares.. I prefer installing good apps and keep mobile faster :fingers-crossed:

You can try using new launchers ..but a set of widgets look good with good and suitable launcher ..moreover ..framework editing s are needed to get some things working like for sense ..you can try different launchers ..its just that the whole look of the ROM will look incomplete ..for example ..If I use a touvhwiz launcher in my upcoming ROM and add to that sony widgets.it would look just a bit odd ..whereas if samsung apps are ported to us and we use touchwiz + the samsung apps ..the look and feel gets better for the ROM ... I am a fan of HTC Sense ,. there's a sense rom in development ( its there in neov development section ) and so far .most of the things are working well ...Lets say ..sony produces the best unique software
Same me, I am desperate to see a Stable SENSE from Zack. But for NEO L/PLAY users, Wifi isn't working, neither the camera.
Now first of all don't tell me search first and then post because i searched whole forum but everybody claims their ROM is fast and good and also users tell it is good. So i have my specific usage of phone so Everyone would you like to share which ROM are you using and how much free RAM you have when you using normal applications like Gmail and likewise ? I want best of best which should be Latest + NIce UI + Superfast + Ultimate Gaming

I used to use Ultimate HD, Ice Cream Pureness, MIUI, and CM.
Now i used Zelly Cream.
They all have their own positive values, as well as flaws.
You should try each one of them to know the perfect rom for ur daily usage since each user has different needs.
For me, I like ultimate HD and Zelly cream the best.

Dude just tell me which ROM are you using and how is your experience?
Telling that I am an idiot doesn't give you the license to annoy others.
Use the ROMs yourself and decide which ones best.
And if you can't then you shouldn't be on xda in the first place
