[Q] Back to stock ROM just to be sure - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm currently on 10.1 ROM but I'd like to try the last old stock ROM by Motorola and then go back to my 10.1.
Which are the steps should i follow?
I thought
1) nand backup from recovery (to save my actual cyanogen unofficial epinte-olympus 10.1)
2)searching on the forum i found this . I think I can flash this stock from recovery right? (i'm not english speaking language). Or should I take this? But this second is not flashable from recovery so Is safe? if i flashed this second one i lost revocery mode so i can't reflashed back the 10.1??
Thanks in advice

Hi,
I have a similar problem. I dont know which sbf to choose....
I am on Android 4.1.2 and would like to install just any stock rom (I want to send it in for warranty). Its a german retail phone.
Could anyone help?

kiesel

Did you make an initial backup of your stock ROM right after you unlocked the bootloader?? If you did, then you should be able to restore that.
1. Go into recovery
2. wipe data, cache, factory reset
3. go to backup and restore
4. and restore the GB backup.
if you DIDN'T do a backup initially, then hopefully someone here has an answer for you, because I don't. sorry.

This site has fruitcakes and sbf files.

Flash a fruitcake.
are you en att user?
If you flash ThE att fruitcake, it wont let you go to cwm.
if you want to go back to to cm10.1 you might install with fastboot The CWM, and reboot into cwm before it boots to att. If you boot into att it will kill tour cwm.
So fastboot tour cwm, and reboot directly un cwm.
Every time you boot ib att 145 it kills tour CWM.

145 had a recovery that reflashes the stock recovery after flashing a custom recovery. You need root access to delete the file that causes that to happen, then custom recovery will stay. Somewhere here on xda there is a page that lets you flash 145 like a fruitcake. If you don't want 145, you can do 141 with no recovery issues.

i flashed the 145 fruitcake. the fruitcake is already rooted, right? so even the fruitcake flashed the stock recovery.
so there is a file to delete that stock recovery, besides de feuitcake itself?

yes. As i said, it will be in the system partition. I don't recall offhand what the file name/location was, but i do know there is a script called boot from recovery, it ties into what i'm refering to.
I believe 145 is rooted, but i was already rooted before i flashed 145.

The definition of a "fruitcake" is "100% untouched stock system", therefore a real fruitcake will never be rooted.

what about bootloader?
i read that someone removed the bootloader lock from 145 ota, so you can update from 141 to 145 and your bootloader wont lock.
so that is not a fruitcake anymore?

That would be the method i used to go from 141 to 145. There was a thread with the zip file of the ota that can be flashed via cwm. As i said, i'm not sure if its rooted or not, but its a fairly simple process. The bootloader remained unlocked when i used this method

Fruitcakes never include a bootloader.

So that means that the alternate method of upgrading from 141 to 145 via cwm is a fruitcake, right?

[Q] Is there a way to go back with CWM?

Now that we have an unlocked bootloader and a true CWM, is there a way to go back to 1.26 or 1.57 through CWM? Can i just download the .sbf and install through CWM or do we still have to use RSD?
Flash sbf via RSD lite... if you have external SD card, make sure to backup apps, as this will wipe your phone. CWM has nothing to do with sbf. See my beginners/noob guide in this section for more info.

[Q] Custom -> Bone Stock - Possible?

If i install tenfar recovery and use that to flash a custom rom, is it possible to go back to bone stock rom and recovery? maybe using the sbf?
also are there rooting and custom recovery install options available on stock gingerbread now?
sorry if these are already answered elsewhere.
You could sbf to get to stock or just make nandroid backup of stock.
The only way to get on stock rooted gingerbread is using P3Droid's release that can be found on mdw.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Also Tenfar's recovery works on Rooted GB as far as I am aware of.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
right thanks.
but if i nandroid restore from within tenfars recovery, it still wont go back to stock recovery.
also what is this news about people bricking when going back to froyo sbf - is it only a problem if u have gone to gb sbf or even going back from a custom rom to froyo sbf will brick the phone?
This is in the wrong forum. Thread closed.

[Q] Need help with Rooted Atrix!!

My friends atrix 4g is fully rooted and has a custom rom on it. He's going to sell it and I need to return it to stock. Can anyone please tell me the best way to flash it back to stock while keeping the bootloader unlocked. I tried doing the fastboot method. I get the error in the CMD prompt saying file too large and can't transfer to the phone. I don't know if I can flash the stock sbf to it and it's no longer activated. Please help guys!

Which one do I download?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
Probably 2.3.4 gingerbread, if your AT&T US. And after you flash that, flash the webtop .zip, so it will be included too. Make sure your using ROM Racers CWM or ROM Managers CWM to flash the .zips, and wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache & dalvik cache in CWM before flashing the main fruit cake

Thank you very much!
Oh, saw you tried to use fastboot to flash something that said it was to big.... in that circumstance, you need to use moto-fastboot to flash large files. Same concept as fastboot, your just using moto-fastboot files (available in sticky thread in General section), & your typing moto-fastboot, instead of fastboot in the command window.

How to use ext3 files from backup if im stuck in fastboot

Hello. First of all i did a huge search and tried everything i found before posting. I rooted my phone, use bootstrap, made a nandroid backup, saved it on my pc and tried to flash cm9. When i reboot phone from recovery it got stuck on M logo. I tried to go back to recovery and made a data wipe, rebooted phone and got stuck again. I tried to restore stock with RSD...didnt work. Start flashing and after a couple minutes said flash failed. My stock rom is from Claro PR. Gb 2.3.5 and i didnt find any where that file to use via RSD. I tried Latinamerican 2.3.5 (Argentina) and 2.3.6 and nothing. Tried to restore stock rom using Razr tool and it shows something like signature failed....thats because it restore to stock EU firmware. My phone keep stock on fasboot flashing failure or something like that. I found that i can flash system.img from my nandroid backup via adb( mean fastboot) but when i extract my nandroid backup theres only three ext3 files and the .md5. I open every file trying to find an .img but nothing. What can i do? How can use that file to restore my phone? It is posible to change that files to .img? Does somebody has the system.img file from stock Claro PR 2.3.5 or any other that worked for you on Claro? Please help!!! Thanks in advance.
You flashed an ICS CM9, right?
So now you can't flash an GB FW, because you stuck on ICS. You have to find an ICS Fastboot for your Region and use this with RSD!

Hi!
These files shaw be restored thru safestrap/bootstrap. If you lost recovery then you'll need to flash a fresh firmware with RSD lite.
Take a look in dev section for a fastboot file to ur razr. Btw, what version of the razr do you own?
Cheers

Recovery Help...

Okay, I am completely perplexed as to where I can find the CWM or TWRP download for this phone. I'm flashing it for a buddy of mine and I don't want to screw it up. I also want to know if I must update the bootloader if I'm putting on Toxic Darky?
Cwm or twrp are intagraded into kernels

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 and use update.zip B to get cwm. No need to change bootloader, that is only necessary on some Gingerbread and some ICS roms but the boot combos for recovery and download mode are much easier with GB bootloaders.
