Problems with booting my L9 - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello. About a month ago I rooted my phone using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189646. Everything went great until today. Few hours ago I received a system update (about 10MB) and installed it. And since then every time I reboot my phone I get ClockworkMod recovery menu showing up on my screen. I tried pulling out the batery, I even made a factory reset, but it still gives the the CMW menu every time I reboot my device. Maybe anyone of you could tell me what to do? Cause I'm kinda panicking right now
P.S. I also made such thing as "format /system" through "mounts and storage" menu. I don't know why, but I think it should be mentioned (just in case)

Well the best way now will be to download CWM backup for your phone from this thread, send it to sdcard and just recover using CWM. This way you won't lose root and CWM. If it won't work just you use KDZ to flash ROM from scratch. Check this thread too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36352031&postcount=3

If you share which L9 variant you have, which country rom you flashes or stay, then people will be able to help/tell you, which cwm backup is suitable to your L9.
Update your profile with your country name (if u r not criminal? lolz kidding), operator name and add L9 variant in your signature. at the moment, your profile is completely naked.

Ok, I managed to deal with my problem. Firstly I tried using cmahendra's guide on installing KDZ offline, but after aproximately 2 hours of complete failage I began searching for other ways. Luckily user edriskus answered to the message I sent him and suggested me doing the same as I tried to do before. He didn't mention the offline version so I thought that I should try the "online" one. And it worked! I don't really know how it sounds in numbers, but now my phone says that it has 4.1.2 version of android (hopefully the latest one available for L9).
There are few questions left:
1. Does my phone remain rooted or I have to root it once again (since I have reinstalled the software)
2. This one confuses me the most. Now my phone feels very laggy (which is strange, because it was factory reset previously and there aren't any apps here). I feel it from sliding menu/photos, surfing the settings and other similar actions. Maybe there is a way to fix it?
Nevertheless, my phone is working again and I really appreciate your help, fellows!

hello
Hello! I have exactly the same problem! Can you please explain to me how you manage to deal with it? I tryed to flash after this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344 but i stuck at step 6 at the Post-JB issue, since every time I reboot my phone I get ClockworkMod recovery menu. Its a dead end for me. Pls help and thank you very much!

I finally succeded! Thx Feero21 for helping me, i followed your advice by trying it in "online" method. But there is one more problem, after i flashed the Rom i saw that i have only 1 gb free on my internal storege and another one occupyed. In total i have 2 gb instead of 4. I belive that the old Rom wasnt deleted and its still their and its occupying my also too small space. what can i do? Thanks!

noob question after rooting

I wanted to change the kernel from my P500 to solve the lag problem and get better overall performance.
I rooted the phone using gingerbreak 1.20
after that i installed from the market Rom manager restarted the phone, and i backup the phone from there.
After that I got stuck with my kernel replacement and I gave up and I wanted to reset the phone to default state. I didn't do anything to my phone.
I unrooted the phone and did the factory data reset.
Now when I reboot the phone and press power+volume down+home I still get the Clockworkmod Recovery boot menu. In an untouched P500 what do you get when pressing that combination? Is there any way to make my phone 100% factory state ?
sorry for my bad english
u should even delete the recovery.....(TO get rid of it)
the recovery is on the sd card, right? i formated the sd card... so there is nothing related to rom manager...
u must try flashing the default rom from the devlopment forum.(KDZ Updater)
blah
if i wait for gingerbread update will the update solve this?
The Recovery is not on the sdcard.
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065197
and download the file "Original_Recovery_thunderg.zip" (or something to that effect) and flash it through cwm. This will restore the recovery as it was originally.
The zip is unsigned so you will have to toggle signature verification in cwm recovery.
@mihir he doen't want to get his recovery back(in other word he wants to remove it).
@soberspine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881 check dis thread and install the original rom...
@devil the original recovery zip in the link will restore the condition of the recovery to factory condition, i.e remove it.
this android reminds me of installing windows 95
the new unpdate to gingerbread will come out next month, so the update to 2.3 will get rid of that boot menu and other things that where changed when I installed Rom manager? in other words will the phone go to factory state before rooting/unrooting and stuff.
Yeah most probably the recovery will be cleared if and when you update to gb. But if you want to clear it now use the zip, it works.
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using XDA App
I don't think you'll be able to update to GB from a custom ROM or rooted phone. Even if the option comes up, it is recommended to go back to stock state (without recovery and root) or else it might cause problems.
i didn't installed any custom rom. the only thing I did was to root my phone using gingerbreak and then installed rom manager.
the only thing that changed to my phone is that now it has that boot menu clockworkmod.
now i unrooted my phone.
So it is not safe to make official update even if the only change is that i have on my phone clockworkmode?
Step by step picture guide to completely restore to open-box state using KDZ updater
did this for thousands of times and if you are doubted in any steps feel free to ask me
btw for your question, an un-touched optimus one pressing the recovery combination will result in
a stable image of an android jumped out of a white-rectangular box
a bar at the bottom loading
but that's it, nothing more no matter how long you wait
Also for your updating question:
LG WONT recognize your phone with their official updating tool only when you are ROOTED (so of course when you perform any other steps after rooting, it wont either... e.g. installing custom recovery, flash roms etc)
BUT if you go back to the original thing with KDZ, LG will update anything for you -tested by myself!
thank you for all the clarifications and the tutorial.
I will wait now for the new android 2.3 release and ill do the whole thing then.
It is possible after rooting and installing clockworkmod the phone to work slower?
It feels like the phone is responding slower or maybe is just me imagining things .
hehe. nothing like that.

[Q] tried to root i777, now stuck at galaxy s2 with triangle and i900 screen

Hello first time rooting this phone. Its a SGH-I777. I used the guide from galaxys2root.com/. At first it didnt work because my computer didnt recongnize my phone. I tried a different computer and it seemed successful until it rebooted. When the phone rebooted it did nothing but stay on the first screen. I still have the ability to get into Odin mode(download mode), but that is it. When i put the phone in download mode and use Odin it allows me to download the "zimage" but after rebooting it is the same exact thing. I have tried the one click root, one click factory restore. Tried restoring it on Kies. and nothing work took it to a store and the guy said he tried but it would stop in the middle of the download the only option i had with him was purchasing a new mother board for $80. Does anyone have a solution that can help me fix my phone.
Before i attempted to root it, it had OS 2.3.6 with kernal 2.6.35.7.
Go to the development section and read the stickies. There you will find stock rooted packages you can flash with Odin.

@jmula,
Enter recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset. That may clear the failure to boot. If not you'll need to flash back to stock and start over.
The yellow trangle is a result of flashing a custom kernel using Odin or Heimdall, and is expected. You are not the first person having problems with the tools provided by GalaxyS2Root. In the future, I would recommend you avoid his site.
And... as suggested, read and study till you understand the basics. Then if you have questions, feel free to ask.

You should be able to enter recovery. Hold down all three buttons, vol+ vol- and pwr, continuously until the phone boots into recovery. It could take 10 or 15 seconds or more. If that is unsuccessful, then since you can enter download mode, you will need to flash back to stock, or stock plus root. That is not just a kernel, but the entire package. Please see the links in my sig for instructions.
The dropbox links in the download repository are temporarily suspended until probably Monday night or Tuesday as someone abused and over-downloaded. But the hotfile links still work.

The next thing I would suggest is to try and flash the UCKH7 full stock package with bootloaders. However, as the dropbox links in the download repository are currently suspended, you will have to download it from SamFirmware. To be able to download, you will need to register for free if you havn't already. Search sgh-i777 in the upper right hand corner of the page, then download the I777UCKH7 version. Let us know if that will flash.
Ok it finally wokred after countless times of changing usb ports. I used the one click recovery. It restroed my phone to 2.3.4 i had 2.3.6. I tried to update by kies to 4.01 and it didnt work. Kies froze. The queestion is how do i safltey root the phone?

Flash a .tar version of a custom kernel with Odin. I always use an old siyah.tar, but that's just me. There are other methods floating around but that's the quickest and easiest for me. I think there's an old entropy dd.tar around somewhere too. But just flash it through Odin and you're good to go, assuming you flashed one for your version of android. If you just want to get into recovery to flash something this works as well.
There may be links to tar versions of the kernels in creepy's sig I don't remember offhand.
Ok since i do not want to brick my phone again where it is just stuck at the boot loop. I tried looking for ways to root and when i tried some of them my phone went back to the problem it had it the beginning. Should i just call it quits or do you guys have a guide?

Give up???
I personally don't think flashing a kernel with odin is the best way to root. It increments the flash counter, for one thing, though I'm not sure how many people care about that anymore. I would suggest that you use the stock plus root package to root the phone with odin. See the links in my sig.
Guide... did someone say guide?

First, to Creepy....you've been a great resource here and I read a lot of what you post and you got me out of the very jam being discussed here. I made the mistake of trying to root via the galaxys2root.com site (actually, I thought it was a different site...was redirected), got the i9100 screen and a boot loop...couldn't go anywhere. I came back here and found resources eventually unrooting my phone all the way back to 2.3.4, then moved to 2.3.6, then the stock android 4.0.3 which updated to 4.0.4.
But I still want to root (4.0.4 shuts itself down A LOT...more than 4.0.3) and I have a Galaxy note 10.1 with JB 4.1.2 and I LOVE IT! I feel on a mission to get rooted and try out some of the JB roms I see talked about here, but can't seem to find the best way to root. I've heard exynosabuse referenced here (no links to it though) and I don't want to use the wrong one and mess up my phone. I've been reading for weeks here and there's obviously a lot of great material, but I'm not sure which material is critical to understand, and which is "nice to know" but might not even apply, and which material isn't even right. Very frustrating.

The ExynosAbuse application is the only practical way to root 4.0.4 without changing base. You can download it as an attachment in the OP of the developer's thread, but read through the thread first to understand its limitations and risks.
Alternatively, you could flash 4.0.3 plus root from the development forum. If you choose that route, please read the thread to understand how to install a custom kernel, which is recommended whether you plan to install a custom firmware or not. The custom kernel will contain ClockworkMod Recovery so you can flash the firmware of your choice if you wish.
There are really several routes you could choose. All of them work. Another would be to flash back to stock Gingerbread plus root. For that see my guide How to Flash Custom Binaries Without Ever Incrementing the Flash counter!! (link in sig)
Hmmmmm..
Well, I see that their are many, more experienced than me following this thread and my following comment is not meant to jump on the knowledge train here, but............... I had the same event happen as the orig poster earlier today. I had installed an app,I then rebooted and it got a bit stuck on the Galaxy SII, What I did was go into recovery ,cleared the Dalvik cache and that is all I cleared. Then I re-installed the RR Rom .rar, which I keep on my SD, over everything and rebooted, it came back as it was 4 mins before . All I did after, was do a system restore(only) using Titanium BU. So when I see all the "clear and restore this and that" I started to doubt some of the more experienced than I. My 2 cents is, that, if one does not know EXACTLY ,how to correct an issue, leave it for our more knowledgeable brothers and sisters.
If I am wrong ,please except my appology.

I don't know what you're trying to get across here. Yes, restoring a backup nandroid works. Yes, you can try wiping cache and dalvik to see if it fixes an issue. Yes you can restore apps via titanium backup. All these things are indeed true.

And yet you say, "All I did after, was do a system restore(only) using Titanium BU." This may have worked for you, but this is an absolute recipe for disaster, and should not be given as a recommendation.
And further, from what you say, you did not have the "same event happen as the orig poster." Instead you "had installed an app,I then rebooted and it got a bit stuck on the Galaxy SII." This is by far not the same as trying to root with a tool from GalaxyS2Root.

[Q] Stuck On Quietly Brillant Screen!

SO here is the deal... I am a complete an total rooting noob but i need some help. After unlocking the bootloader with the help of Hansoons2000 tool and then flashing the phone and then pushing SuperSu to the phone i installed super su and that is where my issues began. After installing SUperSu i got stuck on the Quietly Brilliant screen on my first boot i heard this could take a while so i waited about an hour. Thats when i realized I had a problem. Heres a list of all the steps i attempted so far but to no avail..
I went into recovery and did a factory reset and cleared the cache.. Didnt work
I also relocked the phone and unlocked assuming it would wipe it that did not work.
ANy help to save my phone would be greatly appreciated. I am a first time rooter and have been stressing about my phone all day thinking i threw 700 dollars down the Drain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And i may ask some stuid question because i am a noob. Thanks in Advance!
By the way it is an Att One X+ that i got about 3 weeks ago if that helps
which recovery you have?
you need a custom recovery for rooting
Install the TWRP Recovery if you haven't already. Do it through terminal. Then, go install a custom Rom (I suggest Viper XL+). Make sure you wipe everything your supposed to. You can do this with the installation of. Venom, it is the AROMA Installer. Flash the boot.img through terminal to. Everything should be fine and it will be rooted.
»»»Correct me if I'm wrong.
Sent from my HTC One X+
This might mean that you would need to reinstall a new rom. Now what you can do to avoid the whole fast boot terminal stuff you can try locking the bootloader and running the ruu for the at&t hox+. What that does is it wipes everything and brings the phone back to stock (stock rom, stock recovery)
After the install goes through you can re unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery (I have an at&t hox+ and use CWM) and flash a new rom (I use desensed stock look Elegancia ROM)
I like doing the ruu method because I like having a clean slate if something went wrong.

Gald you got it working again! I had to find out myself how to fix my phone when similar stuff happened to me too, now I am able to flash my phone properly with different roms. It's almost like an addiction .
now on topic, the one method i do use for backup is I use the CWM backup method, because it says your apps and your systems settings etc all in one folder and when you finish installing your new rom you can use the CWM recovery to restore the backup of your phone. CWM will restore your information and apps as well as the screens and where the icons were at in the home screens. Pretty cool I'd have to say
Now as a backup to the backup I keep my text messages call logs MMS alarms near and dear to me so I use My Backup Pro, keeps a backup online on their servers and can restore them without a prob (although I do find it annoying when it saves information when you sync facebook to the contacts. i have about 200 contacts on my phone and somehow it backs up 700 contact information?)
The tool I used to unlock my bootloader, root my phone, and install CWM (Clockworkmod Recovery) is here
pretty self explanatory and easy and has not failed me
Any questions feel free to ask
same
That the same program unused the first time that bricked my phone after installing super su so do I need to install supersu or are there any alternatives? Thanks for all your help.

[Q] Lenovo A2107A-H Help with restoring to OE ROM

Hello,
I am reaching out one last time to see if I can get my tablet back to the way it was, before I messed it up doing the CWM install. I am going to put as much information on what I have done and be as clear as I can.
I am trying to avoid sending it in to Lenovo and try for a warranty, or paying $50 deductable to AT&T for my Full Protection Plan I am paying for each month on this FREE tablet I got from a promotion.
My device Info:
Lenovo IdeaTab A2107A-H on AT&T purchased at AT&T, Rooted with CWM Touch, European Stock Rom.
First thing I did was root using this thread, method 1 with 4.03root. This worked fine. I tried several times to Backup and install CWM with this method using MobileUncle. I even tried the “updates” that were posted there. Now, there is only one use to be three or four.
Second, I followed this on another site through a Google search to make a scatter-text and a back-up on my PC. This part of my problem now as I did not realize the back-up did not do a complete back-up of the tablet as I thought. It skipped some important files, “ANDROID” and “NVRAM” .
Third, I posted on the thread in the first link for help because I could not get CWM on no matter what I tried, and ursulavasey was nice enough to email me some programs and instructions. Using pemergency’s thread here. Which formats the tablet to install CWM
.
My major problem is, with the custom ROMs I have tried, FoxTrot, Tesmart, and the European Stock from here. It will not connect to the AT&T Network correctly. I can reset the IMEI number and connect but, it will drop out a lot and will not run on 3G. Except the Euro Stock, it says 3G in the notification area, it just seems slower than the OE Rom. I also downloaded a Stock Rom that was in two zip files and not sure how to get them into one file to flash, can’t find the link for that one though.
Just for fun I re-followed the GSM Hosting scatter-text thing again with my wife’s tablet and got a better back-up. Everything worked great, However when I flashed it to mine it will not let me reset the IMEI number with DroidTools.
So basically… Is there a way to fix this and put the OE Stock AT&T Rom back on somehow? or Can I re-write something in the back-up from my wife’s to get it to take my IMEI?
Sorry this is long, I wanted to get as much info in the OP as I could. Thank You for your time, ANY help would be appreciated. I hope I put this in the correct section, If not I apologize.
SOLVED! Except one small thing.
Well, I managed after trial and error to merge my incomplete back-up with the complete back-up of my wifes tablet. I used all the files from mine, added in her "Android" folder and CWM, formated and flashed with SPFlash Tool. At first the tablet would not boot to the OS, it would boot into CMW. So I tried a "Factory Reset" from there, and rebooted and successfully got the OS up. Then I could Root it again, replace IMEI number and setup the tablet again.
The only small thing I can not seem to make go away is the "NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10" in the Wifi Settings. I have tried several methods to make this go away. Nothing so far worked permently, only until a reboot or a screen unlock. I did not get this when I flashed my merged back-up using the "stock recovery" instead of CWM, so I think it is that recovery.
What is this "NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10" anyway and is it a major or minor problem?
I can't remember exactly what methods I tried, Is ther one that works 100%?

I bought the phone for the sole purpose of it being 4G/LTE. When I got it, I couldn't figure out how to get it, so I contacted Three and was told that my phone had to be 4.3 - it was running 4.1.2.
When I tried to get 4.3 through whatever means, it stopped working.
I tried to do a complete factory reset and now I'm getting many more problems -
I keep getting errors that anything Google related has stopped working (especially Google keyboard).
My contacts won't auto-sync, despite me having my Google account synced up with it.
The icons at the bottom of the screen (back, home, settings/whatever else) won't light up and the home button isn't working.
It's a different loading screen than normal - before it was a Huawei Ascend splash screen, now it just says "Android".
It is not being detected by my laptop whatsoever.
When I try and download anything using a browser, it says "starting download" but nothing works.
So, anyone have a solution? It is driving me demented. And all because I wanted bloody 4G.

I think we need some more info on the attempt to upgrade via whatever means. What steps / guide were you following? Did you install a custom rom? If so, what rom and what recovery are you using? From a few minutes of searching around, it seems that there is no official 4.3 update for the phone, and just being ON 4.3 itself will not automagically enable LTE service as this has much to do with the radio/baseband used as much as the actual operating system and that will not get updated via a custom rom (99.999% of the time unless SPECIFICALLY stated). Seems like they are working on an LTE capable update/patch for 4.1.2 soon according to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50495570&postcount=162 (that post is part of a thread about your phone on a UK carrier so should be pertinent).

Thank you for your reply.
I'll talk you through the steps I took as much as I can.
Firstly I rooted the phone using eRoot, which did work and allowed root access.
I then downloaded P2Tools, which was obtained from this thread and it allowed me to put CWM on it.
Once this was done, I attempted to put CM 10.2 on it, but kept getting a Status 7 error. Some quick Googling later, I discovered this video, which showed how to solve it.
When I followed the steps on there, I kept getting a Status 0 error.
That was when I started to encounter those problems, so I wiped everything I could, even system, but that part failed.
And that's about it.

K. So you are still on the stock rom, rooted, with CWM recovery (which version?), and after you attempted to wipe /system, it failed to wipe (what was the error message there?), and now it boots and has all kinds of weird glitches? First thing to try would be to go back to CWM and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and then Fix Permissions. This MIGHT help. If it doesn't then you will just probably want to throw a stock rom back on there to get back to running right again.

I've wiped the Caches and Dalvik Cache and can't seem to find "Fix Permissions". I did some searching and it seems this feature was removed from CWM? I'm running v6.0.3.7 of CMW.
When I try to format the system, it says
E:format_volume failed to unmount "/system"
Error formatting /system!
Weird, they did take it out. Koush said it was a placebo. Which normally I would take as law, if it weren't for many times I have ran fix permissions and it caused apps that were force closing to not force close anymore. But whatever, if you wanna try, flash this: http://db.tt/9aWdF8Rp. It'll either help fix something, or do nothing. Won't make it any worse. If it can't mount to format though, it's either or a bug with CWM for your device, or after factory reset, reboot recovery and try again. But you really don't want to wipe /system unless you have a nandroid or another rom on your storage that is accessible.
Thanks so much for your help so far. Took me ages to figure out how to get that file on my phone, but I managed to do it. I then installed zip from recovery mode and chose the fix_permissions. Then reboot and it asked me to root the phone again. It's now upgrading and hopefully it will work now.
It is still saying "Unfortunately, Android keyboard has stopped" and other things. What do you reckon I can do now? You're right, it seems like I can't make it any worse.

Ok. So looks like first thing to check is to see WHICH version of the P2 you have because it seems like there are at least 2 different sub versions of it. The P2-6070 and the P2-6011. Please go to Settings / About Phone/Device and let me know all the software info there.
Also, have you unlocked the bootloader (I'm guessing so since you have recovery, but just checking)?
I found some more info on how to get you back up and running, but want to confirm the system version so everything goes as smoothly as possible. There's a new update that just came out not too long ago that people are saying LTE works on, so hopefully we can get you to that point.

Mine is the P2-6011.
Swear if we get this working, never changing anything ever.
Yes, the bootloader is unlocked.
Alright, so here is a link for the newest firmware for your phone :
http://huaweidevices.ru/ROM4221/P2/...R001C00B038CUSTC19D001_United_Kingdom_H3G.rar
Need to be on stock recovery. Unpack the rar file and put the whole folder /dload on the root of the SD card. This has the update.app that should take care of everything for you. Turn off the phone and turn it on by holding Vol + and - and Power together. This is supposed to boot it into the mode to take care of the update for you.
If you don't wanna go back to complete stock, I have another way that involves switching to TWRP recovery and restoring a rom via nandroid restore. If you'd prefer that, lemme know and I'll shoot you the links.

If I ever meet you I definitely owe you a drink. Did exactly as you said and everything (from what I can tell) is working.
It's one of the things I love about Android phones - unless you do some serious damage to it physically, for the most part it is fixable.
So, thanks button isn't enough - you saved me giving up and buying a new phone
*Hi Five* Glad all is well!
But yea, I do this for a living. Seriously. Helping people on here is how I stay sharp. lol
getting a gateway 504 error from link to firmware, would love to get this update working as i keep getting a notification on phone saying update available but it wont work
