I downloaded Sliding Messaging Pro on my Verizon Note 2 (rooted, CarbonRom 1.6) and it is a great messaging app. My only issue so far is that I cannot get MMS to send. I have tried using both of the preset APN's for Verizon that are included in the app settings.
Anybody know how I can fix this?

This is a far fetch try, but I noticed this on the charge by accident. Make sure you have the stock messaging app. If not reload it. I deleted the stock messaging app and replaced with gosms on the charge, and the same thing happened. Also if you have the stock messing app, make sure to go into it and check for the auto retrieve (not sure if this will help or not, i've just always done it)
So I emailed the dev. He said to make sure wifi is off, otherwise MMS will not work, which should really be stated in the app or at least the app description on the Play Store somewhere.

Has anyone gotten this to work yet? I just downloaded it and tried both presets for Verizon that come with it and neither work. It doesn't look like it actually changes the settings either when I click a preset.

Has anyone been having issues receiving MMS messages? Mainly pictures. For the last week or so, I keep getting an error message stating that the message failed to d/l, and is rescheduled to d/l in usually a half hour. I've tried manually d/ling and that sometimes works. I've also deleted the message and had the person resend it, and that sometimes works too. However, most of the time it just doesn't d/l at all. I thought maybe it was Verizon, but the people sending them to me are on Verizon as well and they have not had any issues.
I realize I'm probably one of a very few who use the stock messaging app, but until now it has worked fine. Also, I've done nothing to my phone so I'm pretty sure it's not my fault. Thanks for the suggestions in advanced.
MMS Pictures will only download when using 3G Mobile Network(Will not work on WIFI). Make sure its on before you download the picture.
You should just get Handcent. Its a free SMS/MMS app on the Market that works great and saves battery.

I'm always on 3G, I pay for it so why not use it.
Any way, I'll check out Handcent. I just wasn't sure if this was an issue with anyone else. Thanks!

When you get it , make sure you go to the stock messaging app, settings, and disable notifications.
Also, if you dont already have it, you should get Advanced Task Killer so you can kill apps you're not using and save battery.

Thanks for the tips, I will do that. Also, I just recently got the free version of Advanced Task Manager. I had been having lag issues cause some apps weren't quiting when I was done with them. Seems to work pretty well, and I like that you can add a "Press To End" Icon, which will end all running apps.
Just curious who all has the mini tab ROM working without galley, camera, or MMS issues.
I can receive MMS but can't send from stock app. Camera works but completely misaligned and gallery fc"s and xposed settings won't stick. I keep trying what people say worked for them but won't work yet.

Everything is functional for me...the camera is mis-aligned a bit but still usable. I don't use the stock SMS app, but MMS is working fine on the Sliding Messaging app
For your xPosed settings, did you add the modsettings folder, change the perms on the shared pref's (inside the modsettings) and then copy over the XML file from the DPI zip?

I was able to get camera and gallery to work perfectly by using romtoolbox to fix permissions on APPSETTINGS, then I used APPSETTINGS to change dpi of the CAMERA to 160 and resolution to 1000x1600. Save changes and do the same exact thing to the GALLERY. Make sure you save the settings and kill the apps when you do, it should give you that option. Hope this helps, sorry I have no idea about mms, I use a 3rd party app to save money on texting so never even tried...

MMS should work. It works on the N7100. Surely it isn't that much of a change just to have the LTE radios

I actually didnt use the xposed stuff and instead just flashed the dpi fix. stock sms wont work and the camera is oversized. Also the keyboard seems slightly missaligned. Still usable though.
If you haven't checked out the most current update, it is worth checking out...

Everything worked fine here...camera a little misaligned but that's about it...I flashed the ROM and DPI fix
I know way back in the CM 7 days, I had a bunch of issues with Bluegrass Cellular and MMS when I used CM. I fixed this by updating my APNs and flashing a modified Misc.img. I still have this Misc.img from my HTC Desire CDMA phone, but now I have a HTC Deluxe. Is it okay to flash that same file and see if it fixes the MMS or does anyone else have a better idea?
CM Nightly cm-11-20140508-NIGHTLY-dlx.zip
I am unable to SEND and RECEIVE.
Don't try the Misc.img. But you should just be able to add the APNs. If you don't have that option, then look at a 3rd party SMS app that allows you to add your own MMS settings. Ones that support this include but are not limited to:
Go SMS Pro
Hello SMS
Easy SMS
Chomp SMS
Textra
Handcent SMS
Sliding Messaging
Pretty sure those all support it and there's probably a couple more floating around there too.

Thank you very much for your reply... But I have already added the APN settings from what it was years ago. Not sure if there is a way to grab them off a nandroid backup, but even after adding those APN settings, I still can't get or send anything.
Well what messenger are you using? If it isn't working with stock, then try a 3rd party alternative. This is not uncommon with CM for CDMA devices as typically CM is built for GSM and then adapted to work with CDMA. Sometimes there's little weird things like that. Did you check in the thread for the rom you are using to see if other users are reporting similar problems? It's also possible the APNs are different from GB to KK. That happens often.
Okay, I tried using Handcent SMS and manually set the MMS settings and I still get the same thing.. Sending..
Isnt there a site that lists all the APN settings so I can make sure they havent changed? Or is there a way to get them from the stock nandroid backup?
And yes, I looked there and there was only 17 threads total, and there was nothing about MMS.
Did you do a clean or dirty flash? Users are reporting issues while dirty flashing that breaks MMS. Also, a few were having problems using 3rd party apps, but got it to work by adding the settings to Hangouts and sending via there. Another option is grabbing the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml from your original rom and moving that to the same folder of CM, make sure the permissions are set and reboot. Most of the sites with APN settings are only for GSM as typically most people don't need to mess with them for CDMA stuff. I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671592
and
http://forum.melbia.com/bluegrass-c...ar-apn-settings-for-iphone-android-t1011.html
for the actual settings themselves, though do not know if they work for KK, being that threads were from a year or 2 ago.
Well not sure what has changed but now I am getting "service not available on network.". And I have already followed those posts. I actually posted on the first one years ago.
I'm not trying to be difficult, just nothing is working

Hello all!
Since I have a Samsung (Galaxy Core Prime G360V to be specific), I have to suffer from Samsung's crappy stock messaging app, ugly yellow/orange color and all. My desperation to replace this app led me to this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-cm-app-installer-t2959922 and the CM App Installer. After playing with the CM messaging app on my sister's phone I have fallen in love with its level of customization and UI in general.
However, it has not been easy to install. For one, the APK wants to install as an update to the stock messenger. Obviously this "update" does not work and I am forced to find another way to use this texting app.
So my question is: How do I install a different messaging app and replace my stock one? Or maybe: How do I install an update APK as a different app entirely?
Thanks for reading, and I would appreciate any input from noobs and the experienced alike

You should be able to to use the Cyanogenmod App Installer to install the messaging app you want selecting the non-root install option. Then you can go into into settings, then find your old messaging app and select clear defaults then when you run the CM messaging app it should ask you if you want to set that as default so select the CM messaging app and always. If the CM messaging app doesn't work I would recommend taking a look at this article here that feature some great messaging apps. If you need any more help just let me know happy to help .

Sounds like a logical solution, but the thing is I can't install the app because it is the same package as the one I currently use (com.android.mms). If I knew how to change the app package name then maybe your suggestions would work. Maybe com.cyanogen.mms?

Sorry for the delayed reply, I would recommend just installing a different messaging app that way it doesn't have the same package name. A lot of newer messaging apps will have very similar features to what you are looking for. Then once it's installed go into settings find old messaging app, clear defaults, start the new messaging app and it should prompt you to always use that as default.

Yes, I am now using Google Messenger. The only problem I really have is that I have to toggle my mobile data to send/receive MMS. The stock messenger never had that problem. I'm going to stick with Google for a while and if the MMS thing becomes a bigger problem I will probably switch back to stock for consistency. I'm getting the Moto G5 Plus soon so it won't matter in a few months anyway

I've been using the default messaging app with my v60 and I actually love it. Up until a few days ago rcs was working perfectly with it and then it just stopped working. No read reports no typing indicators ..nothing. just wondering if anyone knows how I can fix this issue and get rcs working agian as I would prefer to keep using the stock messaging app. I already tried wiping cache and data for the app. Any help/ideas are appreciated

For some reason RCS has never worked in the stock app for my wife and I ever since we switched to TMobile. It works in Google messages, but never the stock app. And after today's announcement that T-Mobile was rolling out universal profile, I tried it again and it still doesn't work

That's so strange. I wonder why it was working....literally since I got the phone in hand, and then just stopped. Hm...I hope they get it figured out as I actually prefer the stock TMobile messaging app.

That is strange. Although, I'm having a weird problem where mms doesn't even work at all on the stock app, but it works fine on Google messages or any other 3rd party apps. Which sucks because I like the stock app but I can't use it since I can't send or receive pics or group messages. T-Mobile literally had to open a trouble ticket in my account and are trying to figure it out

Weird....mms works for me. Hopefully they can fix this with a future update as I really don't want Android messages.
Maybe it has something to do with TMobile agreement with Google regarding RCS.

I would have thought that could be it, and maybe it is, but I've had the phone for well over a month and it hasn't worked from day one. Supposedly T-Mobile is going to contact me on Tuesday after the "engineer's look at the provisioning" on my account
Aaaaaand just like that, RCS is working again for me in stock messaging app wtf?
